  1. Hi guys, went to replace the tire on my car due to a puncture, upon pulling out the locking nut key I was greeted with this chewed up mess(see pics), anyone know where/how I can source a replacement? Will probably remove them all once I have a suitable key and replace with normal bolts. Thanks for the help
  2. Hi fellas, suffering with back pain which I suspect is due to the VRS sport seats, looking to change the seat and thought the easiest option is to change the seat for a normal Fabia seat, is this a simple switch or are the mountings different? Thankyou
  3. Decided Im gonna take it to a garage, iv got no way of getting under the car as im away from home and dont fancy working under it with a jack in place, how much am I likely looking at for a repair of this nature? Thanks
  4. Hi guys, could this be fixed using a chock block? phoned an auto electrician and he said it sounded like either busted wires or a new alternator which rings true with what you guys are saying. He charges £45 an hour and that includes his travel so could be best part of £100, if i could save that and get back to teeside where i can get a pal to do it that would be best for me. Sorry if this is an ameteurish question. Thankyou
  5. i could have a go at fixing it but im in edinburgh working so need it doing ASAP, ill ring an auto electrician tomorrow. thanks for all ur help
  6. Thanks Wino, couple of questions. Is the car safe to drive in the mean time, is it possible the power steering will fail when I am driving? Also is this a job for an auto electrician and how much am I looking to pay to get the job done? Thanks pal, i appreciate it
  7. Hi fellas thanks for the replys, the battery light does not come on, however the car started when i tried it last, i tried twice and both attempts the car started and drove fine even though i only drove it about ten metres. Your thoughts?
  8. Hi guys, ill start from the beginning. Changed the oil and filters on Sunday on the trusty vrs and all appeared to go fine. Was driving to edinburgh today from teeside and stopped off at berwick to put some air in the tires, did this whilst the engine was running(dont know if this is important). After about 10 minutes the traction control light came on the dash and wouldnt go off but the car still drove fine, got to destinationand went to work. Three hours later got in the car and all appeared fine, again after about ten minutes the TC light came on but again the car drove fine, then after about five minutes just as i pulled into the hotel the steering wheel light on the dash came on and the steering hardly worked, parked up and turned the engine off. tried to turn it over to see if the problem persisted but the car now refuses to start, the clock and mileage readouts just show a couple of lines once the key is turned, any idea what the problem may be? Thankyou
  9. Hi guys, was driving up the A1 last weekend on the way to a job, was in my trusty 54 plate fabia VRS which has 172, 000 on it although you would never think it as it is a beast to drive, iv owned the car two years now & to my knowledge it has not had a remap. Anyway, I was overtaking a granny at about 70 when I heard a "pop" from the right side of the engine and the car lost power, no engine management light. Called the breakdown as I am a novice with cars and upon arrival he identified that the plastic pipe which connects between the two hoses on the turbo and intercooler had popped off on the top of the intercooler side, as displayed in the pics below. Anyway he towed us home (100 miles) as he was not a mechanic just a bloody driver. Now after arriving home I got a pal to look at it and he identified that one of the lugs on the intercooler pipe had worn down and was responsible for the pipe coming off (a common problem after looking on here and a few other places), iv priced up a new pipe and they are about £150 from skoda, I have however read on here that there is a simple fix using four self tapping screws, tie wraps and jubilee clips. Does anyone have a guide with pics for this exact location on the pipe as I cant seem to find one. The pipe is secured with a jubilee clip at the moment and is running fine but I need a more permanent fix. Any help is most appreciated, thanks Eddy
  10. Hi Guys, I know this is a bit of a longshot but does anyone in the Teeside area have one of these I can borrow for an evening as Iv bought new rear discs and pads for my Mk1 VRS and didnt realise you need this tool to change them and they are £33 quid from halfords. Sorry if this seems cheeky but I thought I would chance my arm. Thanks for reading, Eddy
  11. Hi fellas, sorry if this is a dumb question as im not the most savvy when it comes to motors, my 54 plate vrs currently has 205/45 2R16 87 WXL tires fitted but they are getting rather worn, my sister has some 195/65 R15 tires lying around(taken off a golf before alloys were fitted) my question is, would these be suitable for my VRS or not? All help is much appreciated
