  1. I read about the oil on someones build thread for their car, it was on a seat forum but think he is or was a member on here, you are correct goneoffski, it was 5/40 he recommended so apologies for the mis-quote, reasoning was that it shouldn't burn off as fast as can handle temps upto 145 before breaking down. As for ARB, i would assume that adding something "non-standard" means it would void the warranty. Mine is now out of warranty hence why i have had the other work done, next step is a RARB, also want to do the suspension but don't want to lower it, just better quality so going to have a look around and see what there is, problem is, think i may have to do shocks aswell if get new springs, would hate to get new springs for shocks to go and potentially damage new springs.
  2. It still uses the same amount of oil i think i have just got used to it. I had new spark plugs put in just before went down to santa pod just incase but garage didn't keep the old ones in order so not sure which came out of which or would have posted those. With the oil i just check regularly and top up when needed, then get full oil change done every year regardless of miles. Think i read somewhere about changing to 10/40 instead of 5/30 but not sure, if see more about it and there are benefits i may do that
  3. I've had the cobra cat back non-resonated system put on my estate, the tailpipe was just slightly extended on the hatch system to fit the estate
  4. Ok, back on here after a while, thought i would update on the car, what i've had done etc. Car has now been remapped, should be running ~215bhp although not been on a rolling road, i've also fitted an itg replacement filter, and the cat back non-res exhaust (slightly modified for estate) from cobra. Brembo pads and higher temp brake fluid. Also lost my santa pod viginity this weekend, best run was 14.6509, not sure how this compares but i was chuffed with it for 1st ever run
  5. Both of them said they had taken it to the technical team and both said because it has passed the test there is nothing they will do. I will try to get it in writing from them so i have it documented. i originally went to the seat dealership to get the problem solved and all they did was check for leaks then say it would be £750 to fix it, as though it was obvious what was wrong. Told them i had a warranty on the vehicle so i called warranty company who basically said that because it is a modification to the vehicle it isn't covered under warranty (a whole other story of the arguement had with them) am now waiting a response from the dealership as to whether they will sort the issue due to breach of sale of goods act.
  6. Now now gents. Lets chill. i initially dealt with carla and then apparently went to an escalation team and dealt with charlene. haven't had a written response from them as was all over the phone. i've covered 900 miles since the oil first got weighed. Due to check the level later this evening. have now logged a complaint with the seat garage where i bought the car to see if get anywhere
  7. Ok. So after skoda uk customer services saying no to authorising work on my car, me asking it to be passed on to the escalation team and them also saying no. Looks like i will have to live with the car as it is
  8. I just hope it gets sorted. Its the first "new car" i have owned and love it. I don't want to end up with an engine failure (as in total dead engine) and getting lumped with a bill because a manufacturer doesn't want to admit they've made a mistake, although in a way they have but are getting away with it
  9. I noticed that. The instructions are conflicting. It says weigh the empty container. But then nowhere does it say what to do with that weight. The example at bottom of page gives an example calculation but asks for the weight before test (including container). So what could be thought of as taring the scales with container on is then thrown out as a weight with container is requested. CONFUSING!! But something i will bring up with the whoever calls me tomorrow from skoda.
  10. Have to apologise @goneoffSKi The start and end weight was including container. Sorry for that part I have now raised a case with skoda to see if there is anything they will do about the amount of oil it is using based on what the results are from the garage. Should be getting a call in the next 24hrs.
  11. So, start weight 3490g after test 3240g (250g loss) 382miles driven = 614km? Their calculation: 250 ÷ 614 = 0.407g/km = 0.407kg/1000km 0.407 ÷ 0.84 (density of oil?) = 0.484l/1000km All driving was normal, just to and from work, nowhere to thrash it as usually busyish roads or speed bumps I got a photocopy of their procedure with the calculations on it and the invoice stating: "Carried out full test found car to be using 0.484l/1000km. Can only authorise work on the vehicle when oil consumption is above 0.536l/1000km" I must say i was very surprised to see the oil weight figures. They seemed very rounded to say their procedure states must use weights with 1g precision. This may just be having my quality head on though. But if said +&-9g potential. Thats 18g potential difference, which would put consumption upto ~0.51l/1000km based on their workings I'm calling skoda uk tomorrow (recommended by skoda garage strangely) to see if there is anything they will do
  12. Ok. Oil consumption test now complete. Over the test i have been calculated as using 0.484l/1000km. So i guess i am stuck with it. Not bad in that i love the car, but bad that i have to put so much oil in it to use and enjoy it and it is considered acceptable by skoda :-(
  13. I'm currently on 310miles for 180 requirement from skoda garage for oil consumption test. They have said nothing about charging if go over. Its booked in tuesday for re-weighing. Only reason they wouldn't want you to go over is because the more miles you do the more accurate a result you are going to get

  15. Currently going through the same. I had to pay gor my oil consumption test and am currently 50miles into my 182mile requirement before i take it back to be measured. When the result comes back that it is high i am dreading the number they are going to say to fix the problem
  16. 1. A letter from skoda saying there was a service campaign related to dsg box 2. Was told there could be a "short circuit" caused in the gearbox due to the oil that had been used and they were therefore performing the change free of charge 3.Wouldn't say i have noticed anything different since having it done apart from gear changes seem harsher in "S" mode when gearing down. Then again i can't really remember what it was like before 4. Was given the invoice stating 34f7 "RECALL" <<< not service campaign. No book stamp but sticker under carpet in boot 5. 2010
  17. Quick update. Took to seat dealer bought car from. They did a check on the vehicle to ensure no oil leaks then without doing a consumption test said that the fix was new oil injectors??? Apparently also a fault on the ibiza. They wanted to charge £750 so got in touch with warranty company who claimed that because the fix is a modification to the engine i am not covered. So i am now going for oil consumption test at skoda dealership on tuesday in the hope that if proven to be excessive consumption they will gix the issue
  18. Everything is on hold apart from getting prices. With regards to the oil skoda have said i will have to get a chargeable oil consumption test done (£90) i have contacted the dealer i bought car from as don't feel i should have to pay for this and the seat dealership has said i have to take car into them tomorrow to run a diagnostic of the car. Will see what happens
  19. Ok. I realise other post are going on for the oil consumption and hence don't expect a reply but thought i would keep this updated as to where i am with my car currently. I've had an e-mail back from dealership saying the only work which has been carried out on my car is the 34f7 recall (dsg). And there are no outstanding service campaigns/recalls/ecu updates for the car. On the topic of oil consumption the gent said the acceptable figure was 1l per 1000 miles. After threads on here and looking at handbook, a shortened version of my reply went as follows: Corrected him on oil consumption 0.5l per 1000km = 1l per 1200+miles Then quoted my figures His figure = 1.09l per 1000 miles corrected figure = 1.2l per 1000 miles skoda figure = 0.677l per 1000km Have then asked what i should do considering these figures are higher than acceptable figures Once again. No need for a reply unless you want to. Just thought would keep my experience and progress in here until i have all details to add to another thread
  20. Hope you get it sorted. I'm hoping i'm not in the same boat but will see when get a response from dealership
  21. @goneoffski when my car when in for dsg the invoice i got had 3 requests: Request A carry out 34f7 recall Request B 43569 Request C new customer Issued parts: 2 x G052512A2 TRANSM.OIL 1 X 000010006 STICKER
  22. Have a look under carpet in boot for a little sticker, think it is code 34f7 that will be written on it. Or thats what was on mine when they did the dsg. I've e-mailed to ask what another code is on my invoice to find out if had an ecu update done at same time
  23. Well this is newest car i've had and never had anything with a turbo or supercharger so not sure what is "normal". All i know is i've had the car just over 2 years, put 18/19k on it and have used 3 x 4.5l tubs of oil, and its had 2 oil changes in that time (oil supplied by garage not what i've bought) I would guess that its no longer under skoda warranty but i got warranty at the dealer i bought car from. the chatter type noise is really confusing me. I've tried to replicate driving conditions/styles to try and make the noise so can narrow it down but no luck. It just does it every so often and know its under acceleration because i've noticed the car holding back, i then lift off a little bit and it seems to go fine. So you or anyone else used top gear performance in doncaster? They do powerflow exhausts
