  1. Issue probably sorted. Looks like what has happened with mine is the skoda dealership I purchased the oil filter from accidentally gave me the wrong oil filter. The guy at the garage either didn't realise that the filter was different than the old one or thought it was a new design or something So I managed to get the skoda dealership to replace it with the correct one (I bought it 3 months ago so it was nice that they did) and have been driving the car for around half an hour and nothing has come up so far I asked the guy at the garage to have a feel to see if he can find any old orings but there were none he could find under the oil filter Hopefully that's that Thanks for all the replies
  2. Thank you when you say make sure a new filter is used do you mean replace the newly fitted filter with another New one? as the one that was fitted yesterday was a brand new skoda one cheers
  3. Got this problem with my Skoda fabia MK2 as well Garage did an oil change this morning and the red oil light has been flashing every now and again. Will take it over to the garage tomorrow to see if he can find the old o-ring. Hopefully that's the issue and it's not anything serious
  4. I'll get onto them on social media, will keep sending them tweets and messages to see if they fold Cheers for the info Will update if I get anywhere
  5. Ah right, OK thanks, I'll see if there are others who've had the same Cheers
  6. Thanks for the reply I don't think it's an oil leak as it looks like someone has resealed the area
  7. Thank you for the reply, sorry I forgot to mention that I had the oil change done shortly after I purchased the car. Would they not fob me off due to the car not having any service history? Worth a try I guess Regards
  8. I've got the same DSG issue with shudder when going from 1st to 2nd gear once the car is warm. Got the 1.2 tsi version with 7 speed DSG Would Skoda do anything for me? The car did not come with a service history though so I've not bothered trying to get them to fix it Sorry to jump on your thread
  9. https://youtu.be/KATC0m7jvdk?t=41 Here's an unrelated video of my engine bay, what's the grey paste/glue type thing just to the left of the oil lid/cap? Best seen at 40 seconds It was there when I purchased the car Has the belt/chain been changed? Regards
  10. Was your car under warranty? Did you have a full manufacturer service history? Did you pay for the technicians to test the car? Thank you
  11. This thread has me worried I've got a 60 plate 1.2 tsi fabia and had a major service last year at the main dealer. After 10ish months and only around 8k miles my oil light came on. Thought it was normal
  12. First time I've ever had to buy tyres so forgive me if this is a stupid question but I need 2 new front tyres for my fabia as the tread is running low I had a look at the ones currently on the car and their size and noticed that they're 215 45 16 and not the recommended 205 45 16 size The front 2 on at the moment that need replacing are budget branded but the back 2 are continental branded and have some decent tread left Am I able to buy 205 45 16 tyres for the front and leave the 215 45 16 tyres at the back as I'd like to stick some Uniroyal RS3s on it which don't seem to be available in 215 or will it cause issues? The car does move to the left quite a bit, would this be due to having the "wrong" tyres fitted? (I've checked to see if its the tracking but they said that was fine) What would be the best thing to do as I don't mind buying 4 x RS3s 205s and fitting them on but would prefer having to buy only 2 lol Cheers
  13. Sorry, another one of these. Total tyre noob here never bought one before Done a good bit of searching, need a couple of mid range tyres to stick on the front of my car. Based in the wet UK. Pretty much all my driving is local miles I rarely go on the motorway. Price range up to £75 a tyre but preferably £50 per tyre From the searching I've done it seems like the one to go for would be the Uniroyal rain sport 3 at £116 for 2 Before I make the purchase is there anything else I should consider? The spec of the RS3 I'm wanting is C for economy and A for grip which seems quite good to a noob like me
  14. Thanks for all the replies so far Took my car in to the main dealer to see if they could identify the issue The guy had a listen and opened the bonnet to move around the fuel pipes, the vibrations heard from the cabin then stopped so thankfully it seems as though it was just the fuel pipes causing the issue The noise has started again I think but I'll have a play with the fuel pipes as they may have moved back to where they were. There is foam in the enclosure and clips holding the fuel pipes The engineer did notice the gunk on the left of the engine and said that someone's been into there. Need to find out what could have been done and if I can identify it as I have no history for the car
  15. Thought I may get a better response here, posted this in the fabia section Skoda Fabia 2 1.2 TSI 60 Plate The light came on previously and was on for a couple of months before I bothered checking it out Cleaned the connectors from underneath the passenger seat, cleared the code and it didn't come on for a couple of weeks but came on again yesterday Got the code read today and it came up with: B1007 - Belt tensioner front (n154) passenger side circuit resistance above threshold Tried cleaning the wiring contacts with electrical solvent cleaner then replugging in and clearing the code but that hasn't helped this time. So does anyone know if all of them are disabled if I was to have a crash or only the specific one that is faulty? Reason I ask is that I'm going on a long trip Sunday so don't have a chance to sort it before then but don't wanna risk the car if no air bags are going to work Thanks
  16. I've had the code read so know what it is exactly. It was the same code as last time What I want to know for sure is if the airbag light is on does this mean all airbags or only ones affected won't deploy in the case of an accident Going on a long trip Sunday so don't have a chance to sort it before then but don't wanna risk the car if no air bags are going to work
  17. Hmm not sure The light came on previously and was on for a couple of months before I bothered checking it out Cleaned the connectors from underneath the passenger seat, cleared the code and it didn't come on for a couple of weeks but came on again yesterday Got the code read today and it came up with: B1007 - Belt tensioner front (n154) passenger side circuit resistance above threshold Tried cleaning the wiring contacts with electrical solvent cleaner then replugging in and clearing the code but that hasn't helped. So does anyone know if all of them are disabled if I was to have a crash or only the specific one that is faulty? Thanks
  18. Just came on. I know which one it is it's the wiring underneath the passenger seat that is faulty. Gotta make a long journey soon and if I didn't get the time to sort it I was wondering if it meant that all my airbags wouldn't work in the case of an accident or only the one's that are faulty? Thank you
  19. happens all the time for me, but only when the cars at standstill or creeping. Will have a bit of a play with the AC etc see if I can find out what's causing it
  20. Thanks for all the replies Bit of a development. When I put the AC on the rattling noise from inside the cabin seems to stop but the engine still sounds the same when I open the hood whether the AC is off or on.
  21. Yeah I've had a listen to a few YouTube videos and read a few threads but can't seem to find someone with the exact same noise I think. Thought I'd post a video for a more knowledgeable member to analyse
  22. Hi guys, got a bit of a rattle coming from my engine so thought I'd post it up here to see if anyone knew what it could be. Took my car for a service the other day at the main dealer and asked them to have a listen but they didn't bother I don't think. Can only really hear it at idle, doesn't seem to matter if the engine is hot or cold. When I rev the car or move off from standstill it goes away but sometimes can be heard when creeping forward. Is it the infamous cam belt thing? Not clued up about cars so please bare that in mind when replying! Thanks in advance
  23. Nope they didn't, I asked him for the code and he only told me its description anyway an update wires under the passenger side seat were hanging loose, disconnected wires, sprayed with wd40, disconnected battery for 15 mins, reconnected wires and then cleared the code via a local garage for a tenner so far the light hasn't come back on. Think it came back on straight away after RAC cleared it so I'm hoping it has been fixed. Will update if anything happens anyway
