  1. If you do sell then please let me know, I'm in the market for one of these right now
  2. Just seen this and I was going to report back about C2C sorry I completely forgot! :( They use a Skoda dealer's fleet arm so the discount isn't applied on their cars but it is available through Drivethedeal.
  3. Really like my car, space is great and realistically the cabin is 90% as good as a Golf. Just wish I had gone for the vRS instead of the 1.4 petrol unit now!
  4. Carfile over £1,000 more than coast2coast unfortunately, might give c2c a call in the morning to see if loyalty discount applies to their dealer.
  5. Great, thanks for all the replies Sounds like just a dealer initiative then not a Skoda UK thing, and not stackable with other offers. Coast2coast have a new vRS at £20,998 so I was tempted by the thought of a £20k car with a few extras! Will stop configuring my new dream spec vRS online! :peek:
  6. Just wondering, is this a dealer-led thing, or a central Skoda UK thing? Got this email from my dealer the other day... (presumably as a result of emissions scandal) It did get me thinking, what is the cost to change from my 1.4 TSI into a petrol vRS? Hence the question - do I have to stick with my dealer to get this discount or am I free to find the best price nationwide and get the £1000 off Skoda UK?
  7. I've also noticed a discrepancy between my trip computer readout and the Fuelly calculated figure after fill ups. Typically the car is a few MPG too optimistic, but when in Eco mode the car really is in la la land with the amount of fuel it think it is saving!
  8. I enjoy mine but it does feel sluggish when fully loaded compared to lightly loaded (although MPG seems not to suffer too much) Suspect it's the DSG gearbox which keeps revs low to save fuel, but when it's got a few passengers you need to give it a few more beans to get it shifting!
  9. For a lease car you can't really afford not to take out GAP insurance I would suggest, not the other way round!
  10. You can easily fix this, it's a bit of a faff though and involves using another app first. Your default music player (HTC one) will load the metadata, so start playing tunes using that. Check on the Bolero that the track/artist info loads, as it normally should. Then switch to Spotify and start playing your Spotify music... hey presto your song data will load! Who said technology should make sense?
  11. Not quite car care this, but I have run out of screen wash for my Octavia after using up the little bottle of concentrate the dealer gave me when I bought the car. Are all screen washes the same, or are some better than others? Any recommendations?
  12. Interesting, so a Mark 4 Octavia could be here as early as 2018? Suspect the move to MQB was the big jump though, the next gen could be a bit like the Mark 5 to Mark 6 Golf - mostly cosmetic and cost savings! edit: few hints of future technology here: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/golf/89538/new-volkswagen-golf-mk8-tech-secrets-revealed 10 speed DSG sounds the most interesting, as does a more powerful TDI engine for the hotter versions
  13. Also not particularly relevant to getting the best deal, but don't bother with the sports suspension! It's a torsion beam rear axle anyway
  14. Carfile and coast2coast seem a tiny bit cheaper than DtD, although DtD has the strongest brand name so if there's only a few quid in it you might want to stick with them as you used them before! Or ask all of them where their dealer is and pick the one closest to you
  15. The car is depreciating a bit faster than I thought it would, this may affect my desire to get another one. What attracted me was a decent price and low interest rate but looking at the lease costs of some other cars the monthly outgoings seem quite high now...
  16. It's pretty refined these days. Also although I get crap MPG around town, my overall MPG is still around 40, nothing like as bad as manwithnoaim or philwood
  17. 1.4 TSI DSG hatchback here. Most of my journeys are <5 miles, from cold I get around 30 MPG, when warmed up a bit more, 33-35? On a short trip to Tescos (1 mile) it's 28 :p
  18. I park on a downslope too and I'm wary of putting too much strain on the gearbox pin. What I do is: Reverse up the drive (so I'm facing downhill) and (while footbrake applied) engage the handbrake Put it in neutral and release the footbrake - the car does roll forward but it's stopped by the brake Only now engage P so that there is no strain on the gearbox
  19. Well I think PCH is great if you know your needs and preferences aren't going to change over the contract period. Definitely the cheapest way to fund a new car, as the leasing company will be getting cars cheaper than you would be able to, so there is less depreciation over the term. It's when you sign up for a 2 year lease then decide you hate the car, or you suddenly find out you're not having one baby, you're having twins, or that your new job requires a 50 mile commute instead of a 5 mile journey and you only signed up for a 5,000 mile lease that you run into issues because of the inflexibility.
  20. That looks like an awful deal - you've suffered the steepest part of the depreciation curve now with your Octavia and you want to start over again with the Audi, on a higher rate of interest and undoubtedly a fairly large balloon at the end.
  21. Cheers all, might try Genoa's advice of giving them a rub with some alcohol or sandpaper first. Only 6 months in and the wipe has become a bit streaky so not too impressed with the OEM parts, which also seem more expensive than the Bosch ones!
  22. Mine has gone off twice - one was a slow puncture that I hadn't felt at all so it worked brilliantly. Second one was a false alarm at 70mph on the M25 which made me stop on the hard shoulder to check but it was absolutely fine. Suppose better safe than sorry!
  23. Anyone got any idea where I could find a decent pair? Quick search here didn't bring up any results as to particular model numbers for wiper blades that fit the Mark 3 Octavia. Typing my reg number into Halfords website brings up 0 results, rather unhelpfully.
  24. Very true, although as I moved from a 10 year old Golf (PD engine, no DPF), the total ownership costs of a new Octavia are slightly higher :p Definitely worth it though!
  25. I'm averaging 40 MPG out of my 1.4 TSI hatch after almost 6 months (3500 miles), slightly disappointed given the advertised MPG however my old 2.0 TDI only did 44 and fuel was more expensive and diesel engines cost more to buy too.
