  1. Thanks for the interior photos guys. These are very nice cars
  2. Thanks. Alcantara is my favourite seat covering but I found the fixed position of the headrests in the Superb Sportline too far back. This has best of both worlds.
  3. Have you any photos of the interior Silver? What’s the trim finish on the dash, looks like a grained wood in the mock up. Are the seats Alcantara and are the headrests adjustable? Sorry for all the questions but might fancy one of these in a year or two!
  4. Very nice Silver, that looks lovely.
  5. Good idea, must try that. 28c here today and cooled the car fine, just doesn’t have that icy feel to the air from the vents. Maybe saves mpg?
  6. Agreed, on very hot days it struggles. I share a carpool with a Volvo V60 driver, you could get frostbite in there!
  7. It’s a mechanical failure of the switch, you should clearly feel the two stages when you press down. First the one touch fails then the opening operation fails completely. Just had mine replaced under warranty. It’s a single module containing the four switches on the driver’s door. Took about half an hour to replace.
  8. I’ve owned both and driven a few others. This would be my explanation too, cloth absorbs background noise of which there seems to be a bit in the Superb.
  9. 17” wheels are quieter than 18” and cloth interiors are quieter than leather in the Superb.
  10. I fitted Continental Max Contact 5 in this size to my SE Business, replacing P7s. They were fantasticaly quiet and had great ride and grip too. Higher rolling resistance though which made it feel a little slower off the line. Still miss the silence and ride quality as I have an SEL on 18”s now. MASSIVE noise difference from the Pirellis.
  11. Tried it for about 5 miles and lost the will to carry on - in Eco mode that is.
  12. Third fill 54.7 mpg measured, 57.8 on maxidot.
  13. Third fill 54.7 mpg measured, 57.8 on maxidot.
  14. Should have said I think the cruiser nature of the S3 means it would really suit the automatic gearbox.
  15. I came from a 170 to a 150 TDi, both manual. Firstly the new car is more of a cruiser by nature so you don't feel the desire to press on the same as in the S2. Secondly the gearing is a lot longer in the new car which means it doesn't respond to the accelerator as sharply. Acceleration in 6th is fine but not instant like the 170. Pull in 5th in the 150 is similar to 6th in the 170. High speed cruising is much more relaxed in the new car though. 100 feels like 80. New car typically operates easily from 250rpm lower in the rev range than 170 and will pull from virtually idle even in higher gears. Ultimately you get used to the drive and it's more economical. Ride quality is much improved too. Sometimes the 170 got me into more trouble than it got me out of!
  16. Took a drive to the coast today with the family, 76 miles round trip, got 66.7mpg on the maxidot which reads about 3mpg high so 63 mpg. 60-70 mph on the motorway, 50-60mph on B roads and a long stretch at 40mph through road works all with reasonably gentle acceleration. Taking it easy but not holding anybody up. 1500 miles on the car to date. Definitely better economy than the 170 S2 but not quite the same oomph.
  17. Rick, if you leave the stalk in position 1 and sensitivity in far right position and the wipers don't work when it rains then there's something wrong with them. Dealer fix. Mine don't sweep when the screen's dry. As Danny says, they will stop wiping when car isn't moving.
  18. Yip, mine works well too. Not completely perfect, as I'm in between extreme right hand position or the next one to the left sometimes on the sensitivity selector. Your's doesn't sound right. Is the screen clean in front of the sensor?
  19. 2nd fill, 55.1mpg measured, 58.0 mpg on maxidot - well pleased!
  20. Yea, I saw a new SE estate with the spare wheel option in the boot. Thought it strange the spare was an inch smaller diameter but same profile and nearly same width as the car's normal wheels, so basically it's nearly an inch smaller in diameter - how does that work with the traction control, ABS etc?
  21. And women just don't understand! It's good to get a few miles up and feel it loosen up a bit, don't know if this is software related. Hope you're feeling a bit better. What was your last car?
