  1. Hi everyone - I have an issue with my trusty & ultra relaible 2009 Skoda Fabia 1.9 Diesel. All of a sudden (no rhymn nor reason to this) all the warning lights come on the dash (you can be driving or not) and you loose power brakes, steering, air bag waning light comes on, etc). Ignition off & back on and the cer behaves as you'd expect - but the AirBag light remains on. Here is a copy of the AutoScan ednesday,22,December,2021,19:25:00:15721 VCDS -- Windows Based VAG/VAS Emulator Running on Windows 10 x64 VCDS Version: 21.9.0.2 (x64) Data version: 20210903 DS330.0 www.Ross-Tech.com VIN: TMBDG65J193107054 License Plate: Chassis Type: 5J (5J - Skoda Fabia (2007 > 2010)) Scan: 01 02 03 08 09 15 16 17 19 25 37 44 46 55 56 76 77 VIN: TMBDG65J193107054 Mileage: 281020km-174617miles ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 01: Engine Labels: 038-906-019-AXR.lbl Part No: 038 906 019 NS Component: 1,9l R4 EDC G400SG 0984 Coding: 00102 Shop #: WSC 00186 VCID: 75E5DBCA4FFC5F2162-4B00 TMBDG65J193107054 SKZ7Z0H5188603 1 Fault Found: 18058 - Powertrain Data Bus P1650 - 35-00 - Missing Message from Instrument Cluster Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 6R0-907-37x-ABS80.clb Part No SW: 6R0 907 379 J HW: 6R0 907 379 J Component: ABS 8.0 front H06 0003 Revision: 00000000 Serial number: 00000000000000 Coding: 0002193 Shop #: WSC 13765 790 00000 VCID: 45856B0A0F9C8FA132-513C No fault code found. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 08: Auto HVAC Labels: 6Q0-907-044.lbl Part No: 5J0 907 044 A Component: CLIMAtronic SK25 0608 Shop #: WSC 00000 000 00000 VCID: 285BC2BE98CE72C929-513C No fault code found. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 09: Cent. End-------------------------(Elapsed Time: 04:14)-------------------------- New car electronics are not my strong point, so wanted to pick the combined brain of the hive mind to see if you can assist me in rectifyiing this fault. Many thanks Mark
  2. Can anyone help please? I want to fit a combined sub/amplifier in my boot. Ive sorted the speaker cabling from the back of the “Dance” head unit The problem im having is finding a suitable supply/connection for the main power. Obviously direct power from the battery would be good, but having the 1.9 Diesel engine, I can’t see enough of the firewall to see where the wiring comes in? Is there an easier place to pick up a power feed? Any help and pointers would be appreciated
  3. Cheers pixelated - sounds just like mine its in at the end of the month for a 2nd hand ‘box and cam belt and water pump - that the dealer missed 20k miles ago!!
  4. Cheers mrgf id love it to be a CV joint - however I have a suspicion that, as the knocking doesn’t happen when turning one way or the other (only when you slow the car on the gears) I suspect gearbox
  5. For the last Thousand miles or so I've had a clicking/knocking from the front of my Fabia daily. kinda thought it was a CV joint, although turning at full lock didn't make any noise The noise is only really evident when the engine is labouring at low speed Went to the dealer today - they reckon (although haven't confirmed) that it's the diff! The car has 132k miles on the clock What are the known issues with these gearboxes? Are they expensive to rebuild? thoughts and experiences welcomed
  6. Well, 2 hours later and 3 broken 1/4" hex head extensions later I removed the fuel filter Torx bolts and replaced the sidelight bulbs! Why should something that should be so easy be made so difficult? Ah well, it's done now - thank you all for the advice and comments. Here is hoping that the bulbs last a long time now!!
  7. Cheers all flapperJack - I've I clipped the fuel filter and lifted it clear from the housing but I can't see how the housing can be removed as its welded to the inner wing and I can't see any fixings anywhere?
  8. The Off Side side light on my 58 plate Fabia 2 has failed I looked in the handbook (which isn't much help) but cant see any way for access into this area without taking the headlight out? Any ideas? There is no access from under the wing as the fuel filter is in the way.
  9. Are these still available pip? If so, where are you?
  10. Bums! Thanks Andy I'll have to pass on them then Cheers for the info
  11. I have had a look using the search facility but couldn't find anything conclusive for the Fabia 2 Do VW Corrado front seats fit into the front of a Fabia 2? A friend is breaking a Corrado and the front seats have lumbar support and I would really benefit from seats with this in my Fabia Any advice welcome
  12. Ok, so I stupidly thought that this age of Skoda would follow the same age of VW/Audi as far as wheel bolt pattern - i.e. 5 x 112PCD - however after a trial fir of a wheel from my Golf they aren't - well mine arent anyway. So what are they? Not that replacement wheels are on the horizon at the moment, but it woudl be nice to know
  13. All done today Socket fitted into the top of the little tray (it doesnt get in the way of my legs/knees either) and all wired in I am using the socket by the handbrake for a douple USB and plugging in my iPhone/Aux cable in there to charge my phone and allow me to play music through the head unit - well pleased Cheers jonro2009 for the pointers
  14. That's great! Thanks!! I've just done something very similar (but connected into the rear of the fuse box) and put an inline fuse holder. I'm going to drill the top of the little tray I think for the socket so the socket points towards the floor. Thanks again for the photos
  15. Could you post a photo of where this is please Jonro2009?
  16. Ok, I'm trying to remove the small tray that sits to the right of the steering wheel, just above the removable panel for fuse box access - how do you do this? I've removed the side panel of the dash, I've found some bolts to loosen the fuse panel off, but still can't find how you remove this area? The reason I want to remove it is because I want to fit a cigarette lighter socket in there (so I can plug in my SatNav). Any help/pointers greatly appreciated
  17. Cheers mannyo - I'll drop by the dealer and see if they can dell me (fingers crossed)
  18. Cheers Richardsfavorit - I've been driving for 20plus years so I know about regular vehicle checks My issue is that, living on a reasonable hill means that things like oil level checks are difficult as there is no level ground on which to park my car - making accurate oil level readings difficult. My current Mk5 GT Deisel Golf and Mk6 Golf R have oil level indicators which I find very handy when level parking is not possible - hence wondering if the Fabia has a level indicator or not??
  19. Ok, so I've done some more tinkering on my Fabia, which is a 58 Plate 1.9 Diesel Sport The question I have is does it have an oil level sensor? The handbook seems to suggest that it does, but without waiting until a light, or not, comes on, how will I know??
  20. I've just been under the car and looked. It is the very tip of a bolt touching the disc back-plate (as the garage said). I need to "adjust" the back-plate when I have a replacement locking wheelnut key! (The joys of 2nd hand cars)
  21. I've just bought a 58 plate Skoda Fabia Sport with the 1.9 105bhp TDI engine. On full right lock there is a clicking/metal springing noise, not all the time, and I can't narrow down when this happens. The dealer I took it to to do the cam-belt and water pump says it could be the disc back-plate catching on the disc? Any other thoughts?
  22. Hi guys and girls I am Mark from East Sussex - just ventured away from VW's that I have had all my life, to a Skoda Fabia 1.9TDi Sport Great little go-kart and just getting started with doing some subtle things to it. Here are a couple of photo's of the little car - a bit of a depatrure from my 2011 Golf R however, but so far, the increase in fuel economy is being enjoyed I am sure I will have some questions about stuff as time goes on, but hope so chat to you soon Mark
