  1. Well got car fixed, it was the mechatronics box, Parks Skoda wanted £2200 to replace then said could be clutches so they wanted me to pay the £2200 and then they would test it to see if clutches were ok, if not, would be another £800, so paying out £3k for a car worth £5k.mmmm, so took it to a specialist who repaired the mechatronics box for £1200 and he could tell when he took the box off that clutches were ok so not too bsd in the end, complained to Skoda but they didn't want to know so I reckon the 7 speed dry clutch has problems which they don't want to know about, they don't even have an exchange system for the boxes, shocking!....
  2. Same shape I think there is a problem with the 7speed dry clutch as my last Skoda was a 1.9 6 speed wet with no probs, I sold it at 130k on clock.......
  3. Well got it checked out at local Skoda garage and they said it was the mechatronic box and maybe clutches but won't know till they change box at a cost of £2,200, I have sent e-mail and letter to Skoda UK complaining about it, waiting on reply, at the moment it's in a garage getting new box fitted for £1,400, should be ready today or tomorrow, love the car but wouldn't get another unless I get extended warranties......
  4. Had a gearbox failure light come on when putting car in garage, next day light still came on, drove a few miles and revs were high compared to speed, parked up and later went out to put car in garage, had no gears, revs in drive 1250 max, revs in neutral 2500 max, any ideas?
  5. Gettin a noise coming from which seems to be the front of the engine, only at tickover an you can feel the car shaking, again all at tickover, anyone cime across this??
  6. Check to see if there is a stone or something stuck in the guard...
  7. Maybe if the SS had a delay in it, say 1 min (after which they reckon wastes fuel) that would cut down the SS operating as often and with no change to fuel economy???
  8. Yes but changes as soon as the engine restarts, I mean for it to stay on one setting till you change it...
  9. Hi All, can this button be rewired or changed so you can manually switch it on or off?
  10. Hi, just got a 63 Octavia Estate dsg and seem to have a plastic frame under drivers seat, anyone know what fits in it?....................Chaz
  11. Hi, just upgraded from 57 plate 1.9tdi dsg Octavia Estate to 63 plate 1.6 Octavia Estate dsg, 57 plate best car I ever had (8 years).......Chaz
  12. Hi All, well at long last the saga has finished, took Arnold Clarks body shop three weeks to sort it out, eventually a new tailgate was "fitted", had to take it back the following week to get it realigned, not a great paint job but adequate, again Arnold Clark warranty clerk was great but that's as far as the thanks go, had bother with them years ago and thought at first they had changed but alas not, customer service a total shambles, thanx again for all your help and replies, not a regular user but will look in on you all from time to time.....................Chaz
  13. Will be asking that question when I get the respray, I think the standard paint warranty is only 3 or 5 years so should get that I guess and I've learned my lesson about driving in reverse by getting a bikini cover for the tailgate ;o)............
  14. Well , at last folks, SUK have put their hands up and going to strip and respray the tailgate under warranty, taken a while and have to wait till March to have it done but at least it's underway, thanx will go to Arnold Clarks in Glasgow and Customer Service at SUK, who seemed to move things along fairly quickly leading me to believe that the retailer I bought the car from, PARKS MOTOR GROUP in Hamilton, were the ones dragging their heels, case is closed now but was told if there are any problems with the repair a case can be opened again so thanx for all the help people and will keep in touch............
  15. Hi all, been a while, update on the rust issue, now almost 4 months, to cut a long story shorter, on second visit to retailers saw more rust above number plate, more pix sent to SUK who now say it's zinc inclusion, therefore a paint issue but out of warranty but the good news is the rust above number plate could be perforation which is under warranty, SUK now have pix and report from Skoda approved painters in Glasgow so expecting to know this week what the final result will be, hoping for the best, chap at Skoda thinks warranty re-spray might be on the cards, here's hoping............
