  1. Contrary to the recent posts in this thread, I'm still most interested in the mk3 Greenline model of Fabia. When's that turning up?
  2. So nearly half-way through 2016, where's that Greenline III?
  3. Although iPods can be troublesome we can't put the blame specifically on them since I use a USB stick and the official Skoda USB-MDI cable. Since changing the audio source to Radio and then back to MDI effectively fixes the issue, this rules out the possibility that it's a physical connection issue (otherwise the channel swapping would continue). Would be great if there was a firmware update, although I don't have the means to find out what firmware I have. Regardless, since the latest MDI firmware on the internet seems to date from 2012 and my car was built in 2014, I'm sure it has the latest anyway. I too have a 3.5mm AUX port, it's next to my handbrake rather than directly into the headunit. I don't use it often enough to remember if also has the same problem... will need to test that. It's as if some sort of voltage is being tripped, because as far as I recall the audio doesn't switch back itself once it's made the swap. Then again I never leave it long enough to wait and see.
  4. Did the dealer diagnose the issue, 6stringer? I have MDI in my Fabia and it often swaps the channels over seemingly randomly. I get around it by quickly switching the source to Radio then back to MDI and that sorts it until it randomly happens again. It's definately the MDI: - It affects any track (although you might not notice it on some tracks purely because of the song's stereo mixing is balanced) - The channels are never swapped if listening to Radio or CD - You reported an issue with your Amundsen, I'm using a Swing, so it's not the headunit. I've owned my car from new for six months and have just beared with it, it's a bit annoying, but recently I'm getting tired of it... especially when you sometimes here the 'clipping' sound that occurs when the channel swap happens.
  5. the Kenwood looks too fancy for my liking, and I'm not prepared to spend more money on speakers I know are perfectly capable of sounding great, even without an extra amp. I think I'll sell the Columbus, I don't have maxi dot, so it's funny enough looking down every so often to check the nav. I don't particularly navigate heavily anyway, although I've always preferred in-built navs. I did a bit of looking around and found this. Seems like it's a widespread issue. Quite disappointed, maybe I'll use the money for a bluetooth kit on my Swing.
  6. I bought a new Fabia Hatch GreenLine in September this year. It has eight speakers and came fitted with a Swing. I have just purchased the latest model of Columbus (model K/L) and wired it in. Yet my Swing sounds better than the Columbus! Even after 20 minutes playing with the Treble/Mid/Bass settings and using different sources, the Swing just drives a fuller-sounding bass and better toned Treble. I have had the same problem when I install an aftermarket radio too! What gives? Anyone else noticed this?
  7. Thanks Chris. Essentially the RNS has multiple hardware versions with no logical order! I think it bottles down to this folks, if you were in the market for a Columbus, what would you buy?
  8. Thanks for the prompt replies. I'm a little surprised that the blockier font is the newer style. I've driven a 2012 fabia with the blocky font and my 2014 fabia has the thinner font. It's a small detail, but I can see it bothering me.. I might even buy an older model! I understand that the part number has a letter at the end, the "higher" the letter, the later the model. However I can't seem to see any pattern with the "hw" number that people have been quoting. Can someone explain that? Appreciate the help guys.
  9. Hello Briskodians, Having installed my after-market double-din nav into my car, and finding the sound produced surprisingly inferior to the oem swing unit, I have sold it and am looking to invest in a Columbus. However I would like your advise. Firstly, I have a 2014 Fabia Greenline II. I have noticed that some dashboards use a different font to others, and some head units also include branding and the SD symbol on them (see table image attached) Can anyone shed some light on the design? My Swing has no branding and uses the thinner font. Would buying a Columbus from a dealership yield the latest model with this thinner font (I'm assuming it's a newer dash design). Secondly, if you were looking to buy a new Columbus, where would you go? I'm wondering how legitimate the below eBay listing is. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261496824794
  10. You guys should create a sticky thread with a master list of Columbus models and their corresponding firmware versions to load.
  11. Would someone be so kind as to point out which adapter I will need? Is there one that goes from the car fakra loom to canbus adapter to iso?
  12. I have a mark 2 Fabia, and although the brown section of my loom seems to match the original post in this thread, my black loom does not. Here is a diagram of the loom coming from my console. The blue section at the bottom I suspect is for aux input from the MDI and 3.5 sockets. The brown section I suspect is correct But the black section uses different colours in different positions to the original post. The OEM Swing unit does give me a wiring diagram, nor are there any labels on the loom wires. I'd rather avoid guessing which pin to wire where, so would anyone mind helping me out here?
