  1. Thread revival! I'm now happily back to Skoda ownership in a 2012 Fabia. It only has the basic RCD 310 head unit so I'm either looking to get an aftermarket double din or potentially an RNS 310/315. Other than nav, the main thing I want is to be able to stream music via Bluetooth and skip tracks on the screen as aux doesn't allow this. Does anyone know if an OEM unit is capable of this, and if so, which one? Alternatively I might just get something aftermarket with Apple CarPlay, but I'd rather go OEM if I can. Thanks! Edit: I'm open to any of the Skoda touch screen units as long as the cost is ideally around £300 all in with any BT adaptors if required. 510/Columbus could fit the bill potentially!
  2. I bought this universal/Leon Cupra R splitter for £45 delivered: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221120452835?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I'm pretty sure it's the same one Awesome GTI sell, just worked out cheaper off eBay. All ready to go! FITTING Spanner level – 1/5. Time – 2 hours max. Tools needed: Axle stands, jack, drill, file, heat gun/hair dryer, saw & masking tape. You could remove the bumper, but I just jacked the car up onto axle stands to give me enough space to get the drill underneath. If you don't have axle stands, then you'll have to take the extra time to get the bumper off. It isn't specifically for the Fabia so it isn't a perfect fit, which is why you need a heat gun or hair dryer to make it a bit more pliable just before fitting. I started by cutting the tabs off the central struts. I also then filed the ridges off the tabs at the back of the splitter so that it would fit flush underneath the bumper. I offered the splitter up a number of times, and had to keep filing plastic off the two struts shown above until it looked right. I guess there's no set amount to take off, just depends how much you want the centre to push down away from the bumper. Once I was happy, I then heated up the splitter to make it more pliable at the corners, and taped it to the bumper. I then marked and chopped off the two ends to sit flush into the bumper. After re-taping it on, I simply ran self-tappers (around 15mm I think) up through the splitter into the bumper. All done! It took me just under two hours in total I think, but I was trying to be a perfectionist with filing/trimming down the tabs. For a cheap mod though, it looks awesome!
  3. Well it says they're the black headlights, but based on that photo they aren't. It's difficult to see on my photos, but the inner edge (closest to the grill) and bottom edge of the light have a black finish, whereas that light looks all chrome. Could be worth checking with them though!
  4. Right, just taken some snaps last night after fitting my splitter. So here you go! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/328097-depo-xenon-headlights-d2s-6000k-hid-fitted/
  5. I've had my vRS for about 3 weeks now and have set about making a few upgrades. First on the list was Xenons! WHAT I BOUGHT The headlights I bought were the DEPO 'black' Xenon units off eBay, I offered them £200 for the pair delivered. Fantastic quality I have to say: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111195351628?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I then went for a D2S 6000K HID kit, also off eBay for £65. A really nice kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261379467841?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&var=560279102171&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT FITTING Skill level – 1/5 spanners. Time – 2 hours max. (for perfectionist monkeys like me) Old OEM units prior to removal. I'm afraid I didn't really take any photos during fitting, but it was so easy it really wasn't worth it. I read another post saying you need to remove the front bumper, but you don't! I just loosened it off at the front, put a load of masking tape on it around the lights to ensure I didn't scratch it and was able to manoeuvre the lights in and out. They're just plug and play really, you'll need to remove the pitch adjustment units from your old headlights carefully and put these into the new units. You also need to take the H7 bulbs and holders from your old units, and use these as your main beams in the new units. I also panicked that the indicators didn't work, but this was due to the bulbs being a poor fit in the DEPO bulb holders, so I ended up using the bulb holders from the old units. Fit them loosely to start with, and hand tighten initially to check allignment. Close the bonnet, make sure you're happy with the positioning then open it again and tighten them up properly. There's nothing suitable supplied for fitting the ballasts onto the back of the headlights, so I used some strong double-sided foam which worked perfectly. New units fitted. How did that splitter get there too?! They've completely transformed the car I have to say, the difference at night is unbelievable. Well worth the money! Tasty 6000K bulbs. I've also got Cree 501 LED sidelights bulbs, well worth the investment.
  6. From someone whos had newer hatches (A1 1.6TDI, BMW 123d), nothing offers bang for buck like the vRS. I've only had mine for 3 weeks, but I can easily say it's the best value car I've ever bought! Yes it's a bit dated inside, but it doesn't take much to freshen it up and just enjoy it for what it is. I couldn't justify spending an extra £1500 on a SE vRS, but if I were looking to spend a bit more then that's definitely an option IMO.
  7. Apologies for the slow response in getting these photos up, just haven't had time to get my camera out on her yet. I'm fitting a splitter on Thursday, so will make sure I get some shots then and will either put up Thursday night or Friday. Quick note – I started panicking after fitting as the indicators weren't working. All it was, was the bulbs weren't a good fit in the new indicator bulb holders, so I ended up swapping them for the holders off the original lights and worked perfectly! So panic over. Also worth noting that neither the DEPO lights or the HID kit I bought had anything to fit the ballasts onto the back of the lights. I ended up using some strong double-sided sticky foam and its worked perfectly. Has really transformed the front of the car, can't wait to get the splitter on!
  8. I've just fitted these exact headlights tonight, they are the DEPO units and look brilliant! I offered them £200 for a pair and they accepted. I bought a 6000K D2S HID kit for £65 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261379467841?var=560279102171&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649). Seems all OK so far, haven't driven the car yet but I'll get some photos early next week and upload onto here. Took me about 2 hours to fit, had to loosen off the bumper to get the bottom of the lights out. Easily done though, it's all plug and play and the beam adjustment still works as per the OEM units. Will post a link here in the week with more details once I've done a write up.
