  1. Kkk 130 turbo will take a stage 2 map for a very short time! Big power doesn't have to mean huge torque
  2. I've had a performance torque map on my standard vrs, did the job, nice gains but smoked a bit, then when I put a hybrid turbo (Ali @ unit 18) I used there map and it was mighty impressive, it ran 191 bhp and 298lbs which was spot on, No smoke, ran perfect until I sold the car, If I compare my fabia to my current car, scirrocco gt tdi 170 dsg then the Vw feels slow and flat comaprison Get a unit 18 map with upgrades, money well spent
  3. 6k will get you a very tidy low mileage example probably on a 07 plate Don't get caught out by over inflated prices some are for sale at
  4. When I swapped to business insurance it was £10 per year extra. Nothing ventured..........
  5. I had a fabia with a stage 1 map, then as parts wore out replaced them with updated parts, I ended up with a hybrid turbo and strong map with associated upgrades making approx 200 bhp. My honest opinion having done this is don't bother, it's not worth the outlay in cash. If you want a 200 bhp+ car then buy something that was designed that way out of the box. I currently have a mk6 golf Gti with 210 bhp and it faster in every way than my fabia was. There is much cheaper metal out there that will Leo the same jobs for much less money though
  6. That looks very wrong, I would get those brakes looked at ASAP or return it to the purchased garage to get the problem sorted.
  7. I think the mk1 looks best lowered and on spiders! Not a fan of the thicker alloy setup on the fabia!! But as you mention, nothing ventured! Car looks very tidy though fella
  8. Nice motor fella, not a fan of the wheels and colour but that's just my opinion but I'm pleased you like it, nice plate touch though
  9. I've had both a p-torque and a unit 18 map on my fabia Vrs, I initially had he car mapped by p-torque but then due to an unrelated issue replaced the turbo for a hybrid one, then I got a unit 18 map from Ali, from a personal perspective I preferred the drive and delivery of the unit 18 map. It's just my opinion, I don't have a bad word to say about either map, but I preferred top end pull from the unit 18 map, this may have been because of the extra power the turbo could handle
  10. Very clean and tidy, I think the Vrs should have had spiders fitted as standard, just need to treat yourself to some wheel nut covers!!!
  11. Hammerite smooth green is a perfect match but I think it's out of production, not sure what else matches though, maybe eBay for smooth green
  12. I paid about that and bought new pads, didn't fancy putting on used pads, I would also take the time to repaint the brakes, makes such a difference to the appearance!!
  13. If it was the dmf I would expect the rattle to be constant when the clutch is engaged,
  14. If you look at the seat Ibiza Cupra tdi, it has 312 AP brakes. I would uprate, if you are going to make it go faster, it needs to stop better, I would recommend 312, best mod I did!!
  15. That's bloody quick chap, if that's the full circuit then your lapping the same as some serious metal Audi rs3 and a BMW z4 M both driven by pro drivers lap in 1.45 That I would like to see!!
  16. Nice sig figures, but what's the diesel lump like when the roads not straight!! My old fabia struggled even with suspension mods!!
  17. Exhaust will not make any diffenence on a tdi until very high bhp, 173 bhp is very possible, 350lbs of torque and I would be saving for a new clutch. If it made 258 lbs post map I would be questioning the map!
  18. I think it really boils down to what you want from your fabia, if it's a specific map to suit uk fuel, climate etc to make use of mechanical tolerances to take into account for a variety of customers in different countries then mapping is a great idea. But its a very slippery slope, and changing parts to push massive power adding over 100bhp over stock will probably end in massive bills and a car which defeats the point of its original build market! Saying that, if modding is your hobby, and you are trying to make a personalised car then all the very best Hope that answers the original question.......
  19. I totally agree that light tuning is great fun and can give a good bang for your buck, I ran my fabia to 195 bhp, I upgraded parts as they failed, but it soon became expensive. The problem comes that to make 220 bhp really usable you need, fmic, brakes, clutch, suspension, smf, hybrid turbo, intakes, erg delete and LSD to make the most of it, then the boost pipes pop off meaning changing them too. I found its only as good as the next weakest link and it can become a money pot!! I enjoyed modding my car when I had it, but now I have sold it and owned some purpose built machines they are better in every way and make more financial sense to me. Obviously just my opinion and thoughts chaps
  20. You can run 200bhp with a torque friendly map no worries! I ran 200 bhp on standard clutch for ages with out issue! In my opinion the cost of updated clutch etc isn't worth it, if you want 200bhp + then buy a car that was designed to handle that sort of power
