  1. Hiya, Thanks for your replies. Yes, that makes perfect sense, but there are a few hills near by not steep but definate hills and it suddenly started displaying this behaviour. Yes servicing is upto date, hmmmm good question about 'S' i don't know... Works fine if i flick it into manual... Thanks Dave
  2. Afternoon all, I've noticed over the last few weeks the DSG gearbox doesn't want to change up whilst going up any sort of hill, its really hanging on to gears. flat or down hill no problems, I would guess it uses some sort of inclination sensor, any idea where its located and how to test it or reset it...? Octavia 2 FL 2.0 DP DSG 6 speed... Thanks Dave
  3. Ok thanks. Yes thats where I'll be heading next, time to dig out the test equipment...
  4. Good stuff thank you. I've read a lot about mis-coded items that can cause battery drain issues, is there anything I should be looking out for?
  5. Afternoon all, I've been working away a lot recently so haven't been using the car much, a week abroad followed by a week at home for the last 5 weeks. Every time I've come back the battery has had enough charge to open the doors and liminate the dash but not enough to turn the engine over. I've been through the common causes but so far no improvement. The battery is an 18 month old optima yellow top that so far has checked out well, charging system has also checked out well. glove box light & boot lights have been removed & brake switch has been replaced. I've read a lot about the CAN gateway not going to sleep if the radio has been upgraded (i upgraded to a columbus about 2 years ago). Would someone be good enough to cast an eye over my VCDS scan and let me know if they spot any part number or coding issues please... Many thanks Dave Monday,09,April,2018,15:40:46:43776 VCDS -- Windows Based VAG/VAS Emulator Running on Windows 7 x64 VCDS Version: 18.2.0.3 (x64) Data version: 20180212 DS287.0 www.Ross-Tech.com Dealer/Shop Name: VIN: TMBFE61Z9A2065494 License Plate: Mileage: 141760km-88085mi Repair Order: Chassis Type: 1Z-SK35 (1K0) Scan: 01 02 03 08 09 10 15 16 17 19 25 36 37 42 44 46 52 55 56 62 72 77 VIN: TMBFE61Z9A2065494 Mileage: 141760km-88085miles 01-Engine -- Status: OK 0000 02-Auto Trans -- Status: OK 0000 03-ABS Brakes -- Status: OK 0000 04-Steering Angle -- Status: OK 0000 08-Auto HVAC -- Status: OK 0000 09-Cent. 6. Thanks for your reply, hmmmm mine get no where near flat, probably half way between normal uk and flat... Any idea what might be wrong with them? Thanks Dave
  7. Evening all, I recently came back from France after a few weeks holiday, whilst I was over there I enabled tourist mode on my adaptive headlights assuming it would move my lights over, well..... it does.... a bit... I assumed it would swing them over to the right like the local cars. After being flashed a number of times I decided to check, pulled into a car park about 10ft away from a flat wall and flicked tourist mode on and off a few times.... Excuse my poor art work... Red lines = Tourist mode off Green lines = Tourist mode on Blue lines are what I would have expected from tourist mode. Headlights do they're 'dance' when I start the engine so I know they move well. Anyone else experienced similar, am I expecting too much, is tourist mode not that good....??
  8. Thanks for your reply. The V8 is 15 years older & 80,000 miles more than the PD140 but it does run silky smooth...! Errr I don't remember seeing any under bonnet sound deadening, yes engine cover is attached properly. Yes there has been an ambient air temp drop since I drove it last...
  9. Morning all, I've been driving my V8 discovery for just over a week as the other half went away in my Octavia. Getting back in the Octavia I seems noisier than I remember. What I can only describe as 'that diesel sound' seems to be far louder than I remember under acceleration. I may be very wrong here as it could be a placebo affect after driving the V8, bit of a shot in the dark but are there any known problems that can make it louder...? Had a good look around the engine bay, no leaks, nothing loose and oil level is fine.... Thanks Dave
  10. Thanks guys, at least I know it working correctly, I might have look at the possibility of modifying it. Thanks Dave
  11. Evening all, This is really beginning to annoy me, it's happened a number of times now I keep accidentally knocking it from drive into neutral, usually after I've had it in manual then forget I've put it back in drive. Is it supposed to have a lock out, ie you have to press the button or can I modify it so it needs the button pressed? Thanks Dave
  12. Prices reduced and to be honest open to offers prior to going on ebay...
  13. Morning all, The auto tinting on my rear view mirror is getting rather intermittent, I've just been looking at it and removal itn't not too obvious, its the one with rain / light sensor on the windscreen. Does any one know how to remove it? Thanks Dave
