Funny you should say that. Someone else I spoke to thought the same! -
Octavia 1 PD130 turbo problem

Thanks. However, I left the car with the dealer am today. Hopefully, it'll be back on the road by Wednesday. Rhino -
I have owned a 130pd (from new) on a 53 plate. It's covered 28,000 miles. Over the weekend whilst travelling back from Chester on the M56 the engine management light came on following which there was a distinct lack of power. Investigation by local Skoda dealer revealed that the the turbo and waste gate were u/s. The cost of the repair is estimated at around £1000. The car has been completely fault free up until now. I wondered if this is a common fault or has been expirienced by anyone else? My faith in the vehicle has been somewhat shaken. Thanks in anticipation The Rhino

Some little scrote bricked my octavia on my way home from work this evening. It's damaged the paintwork in the centre o the nearside front door and below the rubbing strip on the back door down to what looks like the primer although there's no dents. Both areas are roughly about one and a half inches square. I guessing they may require a spot of filler. It's ben suggested that I try chips away or similar. I've been given mixed reports about them and therfore reluctant to let them loose a a preistine car. Anyone used them? Would it be better to use a skoda bodyshop?

The key factor is the burden of proof, which means that you must be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt in court, who the perpetrator is. The CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) will not take action unless they are 75% and above, sure that they can secure a conviction. Idealy you need a witness, photographic or video evidence, which clearly shows the perpetrator, and I must stress clearly! Without such evidence you are unlikely to succeed. Ste W

I wonder if we share or once shared the same occupation? -
My pd 130 gave me 1000mls notice, no reason why the vrs should differ. The local dealer in Bolton had it for a morning i.e 8.30am until 12pm.

Time to take the wife out.............to the dealers, leave the brochures around the house until she decides it would be a good time to trade in. At least that how it usually works! -
There is a body, The Motor Insurers Bureau, that was set up to deal with injury claimes arising from FTS RTA's and unisured drivers involved in RTA's. Unfortuately, it doesn't extend to damage only incidents. You will have to stand the cost out of your own pocket or claim from your own insurance with the usual consequences.

Should variable service trigger after 2 yrs?
Flying Rhino replied to bk1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
My octavia went 20months before it told me it required a servic. I beleive it depends on how it's driven i.e.start ups, shot journeys, throttle openings etc. My local dealer told me that it shouldn't go more that two years though! Maybe worth checking with your dealer. Mine's a 130TDI by the way. Ste -
Thanks Chowy. Ste.
