  1. Hi Everyone, just to let let you know that next week my Fabia VRS 14 plate is going. I’ve had to change to a diesel as we are moving away and my journey to work will be 3 times further each way. The only problems I’ve had with is it a small engine sensor fault and a light failure wiring fault both fixed by my warenty for Free. No oil problems. 37k on the clock. my only criticism is the hard ride and the large steering wheel. Apart from that she’s been great. A lot of fun and always gives the BM’s and Audi’s a shock when you put your foot down. thanks to everyone on here who helped me. all the very best, J
  2. Thanks for your reply Lightrain. Your train of thought makes a lot of sense actually. ive cleared all the faults for now but the indicator ones always come straight back on and the engine light came on a week ago so I will give the garage a call.
  3. Hi there everyone, i was was wondering what the manufacturer specific code 04238 means on my carista obd diagnostic. I got the engine warning light up again today and it showed this code and the turn right and left control module code too. should I get Skoda to replace the turn modules? what does the engine code mean? Is it relating to misfires? The car is a bit shaky at low revs but appears to run ok once warmed up. I use shell V power fuel. many thanks All,

  5. Thanks for the reply rum4mo. I will plug in again in the next day or two and check out the exact code whilst I’m checking the rest of the lights. i do have LED bulbs in the interior/map reading bulbs (forgot about those) wondering whether to change them back to normal bulbs if it’s going to cause a problem.
  6. Thanks for your reply’s guys - really helpful. i must admit I’ve not checked absolutely everything yet. for sure I’ve checked the rear number plate and side indicator bulbs (in the wings) and I did check all the back lights except the brakes lights. im curious though, when I plug my Clarista Module in it says that my indicators are at fault yet they all work? How accurate is that? thanks again,
  7. Yes I thought that - but no only normal bulbs in there.
  8. Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could assist with this. I've had a bulb failed light on my Fabia VRS dashboard pretty much since I bought the car in March. (the yellow light on the dashboard that looks like a light). My local skoda (Croydon) have had a look but Im pretty sure they just reset the OBD just light I've already done several times with my Carista app. The warning light only comes on when I put my lights on via the switch. If I turn it off the warning goes. I'm certain no bulbs have failed. Any assistance would be appreciated - thank you.
  9. Wow what a difference the steering adjustment made - the car is totally different to drive. Can really throw it round the bends now So so glad I didn't have to pay for a new ac compressor. The service lady told me it was £535 for a new one yikessss! Wow Mr Grindel looks like you seriously saved some money there. not a penny charged for the hire car or the fix/steering adjustments - what a relief.
  10. Hi Everyone, I don't know if you remember me mentioning my air con making a whinning noise when switched on - the pitch changed with the engine and gear change. Well today the local Skoda garage replaced my Aircon compressor. (£200 about when I looked up the part) and my steering has been adjusted to make it lighter for Parking. My wife found it heavy. I don't know if this was done in the Vag or not. There was not option on my dongle when I plugged it in. Fortunately all done under my extended warenty and they lent me a brand new Yeti Auto SEL FULL leather to drive around in. Which was very kind of them. anyone else had their compressor replaced before? all the best,
  11. Thanks bobster I will bear that in mind if I get any problems with the engine. Good to know you had a positive experience. only problem I have is whining sound from the air con when switched on which changes pitch with the engine and a bulb failed light but all my bulbs are working.
  12. When I purchased my VRS it was from a Skoda Dealer in leamington spa. i paid £8k on a march 14 plate and they recon' all the alloys, new tyres all round and 1st Mot with 2 free services. 30k on the clock. A great deal I think. theyre are not many at dealers though over 3 years old. But the ones I see on autotrader are quite expensive. have a good hunt around - if you have over 6k to spend you may even find a 12 or 13 plate with the newer engine in. Might be a safer bet. also consider PCP on a newer car 13 or 14 plate comes with free services and 1 years warenty. good luck, J
  13. Thanks Thanks for that I will let the garage know at the next service. I thought it might link to the engine somehow. Though it's not been doing it much of late.
  14. Hi Ed, the carista dongle and iPhone/android app is very straightforward. Also it gives you a month free on the pro version of the app which lets you adjust the lighting/locking etc. have a search on the net is all there. yeh I think I will have to switch to momentum too as Shell is very expensive here too. going to change all the Lights to LED this week ( as much as I can)
  15. Citigo Elegance '64 plate previously.

Now have a '14 plate Fabia vRS in metallic red with a black Magic roof with Amundsen Satnav, cruise control, climate control and rear parking sensors. LED light upgrade for interior, indicators and brake lights.

  16. Hi Everyone, Just updating on my Fabia vRS '14 plate I've used this forum to gain much knowledge regarding this super car. I purchased a set of vRS mats with the red surround and a rubber boot liner. These look great. I can see by the two services the car has had at 19k and 28k that it was set to a flexible service ( confirmed by selling Skoda dealer) I plan to take this down to my local dealer and get the spark plugs and brake fluid changed as per this forums recommendations. Then service every 10k. Tempted to do the spark plugs but I don't have the correct tools and I'm a clumsy fool who will almost certainly will break something whilst attempting it. I filled up with morrisons 95 Ron fuel driving the car back from Warwickshire after picking her up. The engine light came on not long after that which I reset when I got home with Carista. It came on a few days later too which I also reset. I filled up with Shell V power last week and so far the engine light hasn't come on. More interestingly my fuel economy has gone up by around 10%. I understand Tesco Momentum is liked by the car too? I have purchase osram LED Bulbs for the rear break lights and indicators plus the side front wing indicators. Am I correct that access to the front wing indicators is under the wheel arches? I've also ordered the sunglasses assembly and LED lights for the interior lighting. The drive to work now is more enjoyable and the seats are definitely more comfortable than my citi go was and slightly better I would say than the grand Picasso at home. The kumho tyres grip very well but are noisy. Maybe I will go for the uniroyals next time. Carista got me my big digital speed in miles on the DMI, the doors all lock now when moving and unlock when the key is pulled out. Very useful to produce an engine report too. Nice car car all round. Thanks for all the previous posts on these subjects they have been really really helpful and I'm most grateful. regards,
  17. Very nice Mr Silly. Nice color too. ive now had my vRS for 5 days and I'm starting to get used to it. having driven a Citigo ASG around for 2.5 years this was a major change of car. The biggest change for me is the smoothness of the gear change and the way the car seems to have unlimited power. When driving it back down the motorway from the garage I floored it down the slip road to the motorway and found myself easing off at around the joining lines of the section. I thought I was going to take off - the car had put 50mph on the speed I started at which was impressive. I've owned to Toyota Corolla GTI 16v (j ref) and a C320 CDI (56 plate) before which were both quick but not this quick! the other thing I really like is the solidness on the road. It doesn't hide the bumps as well as some but the corner turn in can be electric at speed. I never feel like the car looses grip. Though I'm sure it's possible. I love the little switch on top of the windscreen wiper stork which changed the frequency of the intermittent wiper wash - so useful! I think I had this on a Nissan Primera GT special edition a few years back. My only grip at the moment is the whirling sound on the vent fan which changes pitch as I rev the engine but disappears completely when I turn the vent fan off - weird! Anyone else had this? the garage I bought from spent £500 getting the wheels re-conditioned and they look spotless now. The Kumhos are great tyres and seem to hold well in the wet. economy has been a mixed bag to work. 24-26 mpg in traffic 33-36mpg on an early morning run both into London on a 15 Mile trip. No motorways or dual carriage ways. 30mph limit! Which I think is very good and as expected. Citi go was 31 and 50 mpg on respective journeys which is what you would expect out of a 1 litre 75 bhp car. i knew I wasn't going to win on fuel consumption but I just love this little car and think it has the massive potential to be my best car yet..... cheers.
  18. No its strange noise from the fan/aircon and only appears when the fan is switch on. The whirling sound changes with the cars acceleration but if I switch off the fan/aircon the noise disappears.
  19. It is true but I was trying to avoid starting a new thread that may have been covered before. Would you you have preferred me to start a new thread?
  20. I also have this noise but it only appears when I turn the fan on. It gets worse when I turn up the fan up and disappears when I turn it off. has anyone else had this and what did you do about it? thanks,
  21. Hi there, well, I picked up my vRS today and I have to say the garage had done a great job on the car. The wheels look great and we're all reconditioned (cost around £500 apparently as the engineer had to build up the wheel sides which took along time) new tyres,MOT and guardx protection in and out with lifetime Warenty. I drove it to the garage to fill up left there and noticed the engine light had come on. i got home plugged in my el327 adapter and using the Carista app I interrogated the ecu. It showed up a couple of sensor reading errors with the accelerator and the air intake pressure. I cleared the errors but will be taking it to the garage to get it checked though. To be honest it drove perfectly. It has a Skoda warenty so I'm not tooo worried. Hopefully it's ok. ive changed the headlight bulbs (dipped) which were a little fiddly but not too bad. The full beams look difficult though!! i have to say I'm very happy with the car - my iPhone synced seamlessly with the Amundsen sat nav, music streams perfectly and dab works fine. Simple but effective sat nav too. all the best,
  22. Thanks Awayoffski for that. i phoned up my local Skoda dealer (not the one I'm buying from)and asked them to check on the computer what the history of the car was. Nothing has happened except for the two services and the tyre change/mot which has been done already. I don't think I can ask the garage Im buying from to change the brake fluid and spark plugs now. However I was thinking of getting a 30k service done at my local garage (I've 2 free services from the car deal) and get these items done then. Then I will bring the car in line for a 9.4k service each year as you suggest. are the spark plugs easy to change? Do I need a special tool? Does £40 a set of plugs sound right? many thanks.
  23. Hi all, the 2014 fabia vRS I'm picking up next week has done 30k miles and has has just 2 services. One at 17k (inspection service) and one at 28k (oil change) Am I right in that this car was on a variable service plan. What should the service intervals be? And what should be changed when? I already have a copy of the service record with the vin number and above info but it doesn't tell me what has been changed. the dealer (Skoda) where I'm buying are doing an MOT (1st one) on the car before I pick up too. is there anything I should look out for? Appart from the wheels and tyres which are being sorted I did have a good look around the engine bay - all looked clean and well without any signs of oil leaking anywhere. Bodywork looked fine. thanks.
