  1. I took delivery of a 1.2 Sandero Ambiance in white last Friday. I'm not too worried about reliability as I have been following their forums since they were launched. There are some reports of problems but look how many owners are having grief on here !. I test drove the TCE90 but I didn't like the lumpy power delivery, plus I'd have to wait until the new year for one, so I took a chance and saved £800 by going for the 1.2. The engine is a little bit agricultural ( or characterful as the sales team would say ) but it's flexible and nippy due to low gearing in 1st 2nd and 3rd. I did wonder about the fuel consumption as most owners seem to be getting around 40mpg, but on it's first run on Saturday, a 320mile round trip I got 54.3mpg which I am delighted with. If it proves to be reliable then I'll stick with Dacia. I chopped in a 6 month old Roomster 1.6 Diesel, because I can't be bothered with all the up coming faffing around with emissions and as the supplying dealer was ex Skoda ( Savilles at Mustow Green) they weren't scared of taking it in. Actually they part exchanged the new car with me so I got a new car and a hefty cheque...result.
  2. I read about this on here yesterday. My car has started doing this at 8000 miles, so I popped in to Progress Skoda at Letchworth, car is booked in for next Tuesday. There is a TPI on it but I don't know the number.
  3. I'm so glad you've posted this question as I have been having the same problem, and after many months of pondering I think I've cracked it. As you are a Police Advanced Driver please don't think I'm trying to teach granny to suck eggs, I wouldn't dream of it, this is mearly a suggestion based on my own experiences. What I have been doing is as follows. Left hand bend. I would approach having taken a course as close to the centre carrigeway markings as is safe. Adjust speed and select appropriate gear. Watch the limit point and apply the required amount of lock keeping O/S/F wheel next to carrigeway marking. Now it goes a bit wrong. I should be watching the limit point all the way round, but for a split second I can't resist checking the position of the car relative to the carrigeway markings and in that split second I've missed the limit point starting to move away from me. As it's moving away it means the radius of the bend is starting to increase and so I should be chasing it with steadily increasing throttle AND taking off some steering lock. Because I've missed it for a split second my steering lock remains the same and so the car appears to magically return to the centre of the lane as I've been steering a slightly tighter bend without realising. I've been making myself ignore the checking bit lately and just concentrating on the limit point and the difference is marked. Please try it for yourself as i'd love to know if it's just me!.
  4. " Can I get a coffee ?". No you ****wit, you don't work there. It's " please may I have a coffee ". It's not just the " Jeremy Kyle fodder " that use this, I've seen and heard booted and suited professionals do it too.
  5. That's really good economy. True about the torque, it really is astonishing for a 1.2. Does the "Advanced Member" refer to driving ?
  6. My Fabia 86 estate is just coming up to 1000 miles and has averaged a true 50.4mpg to date ( 52-53 on the display ), it hasn't used a drop of oil so far and i'm actually driving it a bit harder than I normally would so as to run it in properly. I mainly drive on A roads and motorways but I do a fair bit of town work as well.As it is so high geared it is difficult to maintain more than 2-2400rpm for any length of time so I've been winding it up a bit in 2nd and 3rd but on a light throttle so as not to " lip the bores". When I've got some more miles on it I'll do a proper economy run, probably to the NEC if there's anything good on, and I'll see how close I can get to my petrol record of 73.54 attained in a Suzuki Splash 1.0.
  7. Yes I get this problem as well, not helped by cleaners using jet washers that fill the mirror housings with water. I find the best way to remove the white marks is with a chamois leather, dip in really hot water, wring out hard and imediately wipe. Heat causes the now diluted white mark to evaporate instantaniously before it can reappear. Takes seconds and works a treat. It also bugs me when they use liquid tyre black, as it doesn't have time to dry and so splats up the side of the car on the way home. It does make the poor chaps jump when the go near my wheels and I bellow "NO", then I have to tip them to make friends again .
  8. Hello Mark, I don't supose the car is still available is it ?.
  9. Hi all, Just taken delivery of a Fabia 86 tsi SE Estate in Rio Red. Last had a Skoda 10 years ago which was a Fabia 1.9SDI Sedan in Beige, that was affectionally know as the Slug. Can't say that about this one though, the torque is astonishing, loving it already.
