  1. My car is doing the same. It creaks while going over first few bumps. It disappears after. Dealer was not able to replicate the problem.
  2. Thanks @cheezemonkhai and @tubbytommy. I am not familiar with this type of work. I'll ask a VW mechanic if he could do it for me. Can someone post the replacement instructions? It would be very helpful. Is this a common occurrence in Octavia?
  3. Hi All, MFD scroll wheel in my octavia is broken. I am not heavy handed. The plastic around the wheel seems brittle and didn't withstand normal use. Skoda Australia doesn't want to cover this under warranty. Dealer quoted 750 AUD to replace it. This is outrageous considering the car is only two years old. Has anyone had similar issue with the scroll wheel? Thanks.
  4. It diverted me a few times. As others said, the updates were quite slow sometimes.
  5. I had the same problem when the car was new. Cleaned windscreen with paint thinner which removed all the waxes. Never happened again.
  6. Update - Car had new clutch pack last week. I haven't driven the car much after that. Will see how it goes.

  8. Had similar rattle on driver side door. It was a loose harness. Dealer fixed it.
  9. Thanks for the update. My car is still waiting on the approval from Skoda.
  10. Hi all, Just came back from the dealership. They've confirmed, it is a transmission problem. So far, the dealership had few golfs and one Skoda with similar issue. They also said VW has redesigned the clutch packs for new transmissions (my car is 03-2014). Dealer was not sure whether to replace the whole transmission or just the clutch pack. In the past, Skoda asked them to replace the whole transmission but VW only replaced clutches for those golfs. Tech has contacted Skoda with all technical details taken from the transmission. Hopefully it'll get replaced next week.
  11. I haven't driven other engines. Covered 30000 kms in 1.4 tsi. This engine is a gem.
  12. You don't need to have ACC turned on for front assist to work. It comes on between certain speeds. It can be turned off from MFD. ACC and front assist use same radar mounted on the grill, but they function independently.
  13. Thank you. I'll ask the dealer to check the brakes too.
  14. Happens on both when the car is building speed. It stays for a while after the shift is complete.
  15. Could be. It started as a faint whine and gradually got worse.
  16. This is my first Skoda and my experience is a mixed bag. Had three warranty repairs in first year, and there is still an ongoing problem which is yet to be diagnosed. Torsion beam setup is very hard on city roads. Also, it is not agile as a multi link suspension. On the positive side, it is very stable on highways, good space, plenty of toys, better than most of the cars in its price range and 1.4 TSI is a cracker. Would I buy one again? Yes, I would (only with a proper multi link suspension).
  17. Thanks for your replies. It only happens at low speed. It can't be replicated easily. Other thing I noticed was, it only happens when the engine is warm with air con turned on and DSG shifts from 2nd to 3rd. It is more pronounced while driving on slope/descent.
  18. Hi All, My car is making strange whine when it shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. This doesn't happen all the time. https://www.youtube.com/embed/eqJTcZ4LuLo
  19. My car is doing the exact same thing, more frequently now. Dealer had a look multiple times and was not able to reproduce the noise. Here is a video clip. Appears between 0.02 and 0.05. You may have to increase your speaker volume. https://youtu.be/uJergObvxbk
