  1. heres mine I didnt go for the active suspension..but did go for the performance pack
  2. didnt have it on my previous 2 petrol vrs' my mk7 golf gti has it though..so I dont think its anything to do with operating temp..unless the different shaped engines bays have a bearing on it?
  3. same up here current car of choice for the barry'd up brigade is a mk4 golf tdi for some reason..presumably cos a diesel is cheaper innit?
  4. I am amazed people can even get in the tyne storage facilities have fences about 15 feet tall then another 4 foot of electric fencing on top of that..perimeter cameras all round as well as gated security posts and mobile patrols.
  5. with no mudguards on the rear the rear overhang is prone to chipping as well..but not as bad as therear wheels are nto driven...but yes its the front wheels chucking debris backwards and the shape of the arches. the Golf has much less pronounced rear arches and doesnt get the protection as far as I can tell
  6. its an area prone to chipping as the front wheels chuck back bits of the road surface or gravel. of the car companies fitted mudguards as standard it probably wouldnt be needed
  7. part ex fixed at 10k until I get my new car no matter how long it takes! mine only 19 months old at moment on a 12 plate..but I took early action as I knew how long the golf orders were taking I went to a dealer group in the north east though that also has an alfa franchise (the one I bought the car from as it happens) as I figured they would be able to move the car internally rather than have a vw dealer with a car they didn't know what to do with. I love the way my mito looks..I just never grew to love the engine and in the end it just never felt powerful enough after my octavias...but it was only ever a stop gap as when I changed there was no new mk3 vrs and no mk7 golf gti on the market. but they were imminent so just got something to tide me over in the end heart ruled head as the vrs is way more practical and cheaper..and I have had 3 of them! but we have never had a golf gti and its something, that as a couple, we were surprised to find we actually really wanted one... handily..I can afford it..I have no kids and commute is only 3 miles there and 3 miles back...my car is for me to enjoy on weekends in teesdale and weardale..and the wife says I am not quite old enough for a mid life crisis boxster yet though it may well have cost me my ps4 for my birthday
  8. thankfully I am not in a lease car or anything..it just means I have had to plan ahead. If I had gone back to an Octavia vRS I would have just placed the order next month instead as I was aware of long lead times on both marques.
  9. you should all think yourselves lucky I ordered a golf gti on saturday..upto 25 weeks at the moment according to the dealer bulletin though of course this might change
  10. shame they don't do a fast enough petrol yet..the FR is way down on power compared to the vrs in petrol guise
  11. dont go and cancel the order and then try to buy a golf gti or gtd...anything up to a 6 month wait for those
  12. saw a new GTD in the car park at lunch time and it looked just like yours
  13. is it not something that gets disabled when you have xenons? to be honest I would leave it off as I find it irritating as another road user!
  14. the torque increase on the petrol sounds nice..it never felt like it was lacking previously! but it should make it pretty flexible in any gear.

  16. so thats great ..people can afford a golf gti..what happens if you need a big boot? I dont get the argument.....ones a small hatch,ones a big hatch you buy a big car if you want a big car..you buy a small car if you want a small car? as somebody has laready said..I think the leon cupra will be the sweet spot in the entire VAG range this time for pounds to performance ratio
  17. its hard right across the board..a lad at work has just ordered a tdi140 passat cc and he has been told 16-20 weeks I am sure parts sharing is great for costs..but when 4 marques all want the same stuff can the suppliers keep up?
  18. is the leon FR only 180bhp? I think the leon cupra might be the sweet spot, now they have a better looking dash this time round.
  19. yes they are fogs..because xenons are standard you get the led strips in the main units as drl's
  20. right that video has me sold..blue with black trim and 19's is the one for me!
  21. sadly its the way they get the tax down..120 quid a year for a near 220 bhp car is brilliant they have just introduced on the rs megane and its cut it by about 2 tax brackets...in the real world people probably just turn it off ( I can in the mito QV)
  22. so if it already has hill hold why the need for a full electronic handbrake? I prefer having something uncomplicated as back up!
  23. my wife and I are terribly predictable..its always red or black red mk1 vrs , black mk2 vrs, red facelift vrs, now black alfa..next will be a red mk3 vrs I think some colours come in and out of fashion, some colours are just safe bets

My alfa has both sort of ( and amazingly it works!) so it has a manual handle but also has hill hold..so on a certain angle hill if you dont engage the handbrake but keep your foot on the brake pedal, then when you want to move off you lift your foot off the pedal and it holds for for a few seconds..you just drive off and it disengages..sounds like the same as huskoda above
  25. cant see any flappy paddles? is this a multi function steering wheel..on a manual?? finally!
