This has happend to us, but turning off the car and then restarting fixes the problem. it is not a temp ralated problem, will be a software problem. not that they will say so.

there are no fault codes. the bat is new. as stated before after an 1.5 hour moterway trip it still will not work somtimes. where as some times when auto light are not on stop/start works after a couple om miles. -

thats what i think. as just having the lights on would affect the consumption but it would be very small. -

Its not the current drain that would be affecting the consumption but the onboard computer that is affecting the consumption. Just as a lot of them have to get reprogramed to sort the emisions out. -

The car is a superb greenline iii est. the problem is that in bright daylight when the lux level should turn off the lights, they are on. This is also affecting the stop/start and the consumption. i know of most of the interlocks that affect the stop/start, and lights. When i say in fine conditions i mean that it was sunny temp about 12deg no rain. -
Sometimes in daylight conditions the light are on. Always leave the light on auto; if you turn lights off they go off but back in auto they come on. This when it happen also seems to affect the stop start and fuel consumption. The stop start does not work if the lights are on in daylight, I know that there are a lot of variables to get the stop start to work, But a motorway trip of 1.5 hours in good conditions temp 12 c, and stop start does not work I find strange, as normally when the lights do not come on I can drive in the same conditions 2/3 miles and it works fine. Also the mpg seams to drop if the light are on, the mpg is normally very constant with my driving.
