My beloved skoda monte is due its 4yr service in the next couple of weeks and I'm looking for a bit of advice..... 1. Should I be looking to change the cambelt and accessories? If so where can I buy a kit? Should I be using genuine skoda parts?

Ok had this in at the dealers today and they said the MAP sensor needed changed and that the electrical connectors were shot as water had got into the connections........£250-300 pounds lighter Does that seem about right??

So got the following error codes after the monte carlo lost power under load....... 7296-P0237 Turbo Boost Sensor (A) circuit low input 7338-P2279 Intake air system Leak Any ideas where the sensor is? Couldn't see a visible leak in air intake.......any ideas??

Is there anyone on here living near Perth Scotland that could hook me up for a comp diagnosis?

So a couple of strange things have happened to my monte carlo over the last few days.......firstly i went out to drive it the other day and one of the back wheels was stuck solid it was a roasting day and i thought maybe the rain (thunderstorms) followed by the heat had seized something ?? Anyway it was on some loose gravel at the time and when it hit tarmac whatever was holding it went and it drove fine.....bit worrying none the less perhaps a drum seizing at the back or sumit? Anyway on to today and its raining again but not too bad......so i'm going along fine and then when i was on the slip to join the motorway all of a sudden i felt the loss of power....kind of like losing a cylinder in a petrol engine and the ESP light and the coil light both come on!!! i get into town all the way going slowly as i still feel like there has been a loss of power......i stop anyway and try to start her again and the display now says 'stabilisation control' error. Anyways i had to go hunt pokemon with my son so we went to do that :P and when we get back to the car there are no warning lights however on the drive home it still feels like the power has gone particularly in the low gears?? Any help appreciated ......i'm sure if i go out and put my foot to the floor the lights would come back on ......

It was yup...... Checked engine bay all good there!

Ok so I made a bit of a boob when I was giving the interior a clean as I accidentally used a wipe over the cigarette socket..... I normally have a usb adapted plugged in but I had taken it out.....suddenly the sub stopped working so I checked the fuse and yes it had gone!! So replaced the fuse but still nothing from the usb..... Tried it in her indoors car and it works no bother so I took apart the console around the handbrake a bit and checked the connection at bottom and all seems fine..... I had it in for a service the other day and stealers quoted £62 to fix it!!! Anyone any ideas ??? Is there another fuse somewhere? Or would two go ? Oh and I drive a Monte Carlo tdi

Hi everyone, i seem to have a problem with my monte carlos idle! Its a 12' plate and about to run out of warranty so i'm keen to see if its something i need to get fixed or something thats known to go wrong etc. It's the 1.6 tdi and when i am driving it feels like the idle is always a little high and the car pulls a little with no throttle which can be a little scary especially in slow traffic.......its my first diesel so the only way i can describe it is kinda like the old choke system you used to get in petrol cars......if the car is moving at all it does this in all gears and when i am slowing to a stop and have engaged the clutch the revs stay up at around the 1000rpm and then when the car comes to a complete stop they drop down to the normal 750rpm but only when the car is not moving whatsoever?!?!?! Is this normal? anyone else have the same kind of issue??? Any any help appreciated thanks in advance

George you were indeed right! Stoopid stoopid me put petrol in at the pump instead of diesel DOH!! Lets hope no real damage....fingers crossed!

Thanks George Sorry yes not bought from new but second owner....done about 21k and yes TDI 1.6, i live in Scotland so its always raining :P can't think that it's had different diesel although i have now started panicking thinking maybe i put in some petrol instead of some diesel lols........naaaaa surely not!! I dont know whether or not the car is still under warranty so i am looking to find out if i can get it in somewhere for it to be looked at under warranty.... I'm in Perth

I have had my monte carlo for a little over 4 months and had no problems really in that time....however this morning i tried to start her up whilst i got rid of the ice from the windscreen.....did not like this at all started misfiring and to be honest i thought she wasnt going to start? granted it said -3 on the temp guage but i gave her another go and she managed to turn over but still really lumpy like firing on 3 cylinders anyway to cut a long story short i had to take my little one to nursery and get myself to work 20 miles away. Once the car had warmed up a bit the lumpyness got a bit better but i could still feel it cutting out every now and then and then the glow plug warning light came on and continually flashed about 4 miles into my journey. I have read the manual and it says that i need to get it to a specialist ASAP. Anyone ever had this happen to them? As stated car has been running fine up until this point.......

Ok had the monte for a couple Of days and I'm a little disappointed with a couple of things..... Gearbox seems a bit 'loose" ?? Almost like the linkage isn't that strong and wobbles a bit? Is that normal? Steering feels very light especially on motorway and doesn't give much driving feel through the wheels? Again is this normal? Bit worried about motorway driving in winter here in Scotland.... Got a slight pull to left if I let go of wheel although I haven't tested this extensively..... Going on a long run this weekend so will test this.... Jury still out on whether or not I am happy ..... Got 14 day cool off with stealers pretty sure if I decide I'm unhappy with car they won't let me just return it without me paying for something.....
