  1. Hi, I have had to replace my 1.9 engine and now the only thing holding me back is I have a major exhaust leak where the car now sounds like a tractor! Can someone please tell me should the V band clamp go over from the turbo side right over to the DPF (With the gasket in between?) (See attached pic, should it just stay in the green section or go right over to the red) I'm having real issues doing this and doing it from the ground it is quite fiddly, I left it with my local exhaust centre who said they couldn't see anything wrong (which is a joke lol) Any help appreciated
  2. well thermostat was replaced and coolant flushed but still no different!!! Doing the same thing, 100% whenever driving steady at 60 but once driving on inclines and revving it a bit more it overheats :( - No beep on dash though ?
  3. Left the car at my mechanics and hes telling me that the egr blank could be putting pressure on and causing the overheating whenever I left the car off to him.......Is he right?
  4. i think the one that replaced the original had metal impellers on it
  5. Yea I used to have a 1.6 tdi for 2 years and never heard the fans on it I have ordered a new thermostat and i'm going to get it replaced next week - Is there 2 different types of these? Car has done 102k miles When I got it I noticed there looked to be plain water in the coolant tank, or else a very weak mixture of coolant! However it was completely clean and still is Thanks for the help!
  6. The fans used to run on it most of the time before it was remapped, i.e would be running if i drove 5 mile in it Whenever it overheated the last time im nearly 100% sure both fans were on because i could here them from inside the car I know the one for the ac works as it comes on when the ac is switched on Thanks
  7. on my 1.6 tdi it had a problem where it would overheat when doing a regen when i got it about 6 months ago. water pump replaced but no different. i thought the dpf was becoming blocked so i got it gutted out and deleted from ecu along with egr (also blanked the egr off) The car is now overheating when driving up hills/mountains/inclines no loss of water or oil etc. economy has dropped slightly Any ideas please help!!!!
  8. My 1.6 TDi starts fine but then dies out after a few seconds! No fault codes, my egr and dpf have been deleted, any ideas?
  9. Cheers for the replies, but after further research it sounds like the car has had the emissions 'fix' which is causing problems. Will contact vw tomorrow
  10. My 1.6 tdi had an overheating problem about a month ago. Temperature would go over 90 to about 100 when going up hill. No loss of coolant, no lack of heat from the interior heater, no loss of mpg or power, no fault codes. I got the waterpump and timing belt replaced and has been fine since for about 700 miles. However the fan seems to be on most times when at 90 (was like that when I got it in May)However today it developed the same symptoms while driving, a bit jerky taking off/rough running etc. And when going up hill the temperature had rise again, the fan does come on but possibly I think it comes on when it is too late.Any body have a problem like this before? Or where would I start with it having no fault codes
  11. My 1.6 tdi mk6 golf has had the same symptoms since i bought it. I was told it was fine. It had went over 90 to about 100 mark on the gauge. Replaced water pump and timing belt. It was fine for about 500 miles until now. Fans usually on even after light driving but don't seem to come on when they need to? No fault codes, no loss of coolant, no drop of mpg etc
  12. On my 1.9 Tdi 105bhp Golf there is a quite loud tapping noise when revved over idle (no sound on idle). I think it is a problem relating to the cam, the car has covered 100k I have removed the rocker cover too get a better look and all off the tappets look to be set at the same height....however one looks very flush to the base - Could this be the cause of the noise??? Also 3 injectors look the same, apart from the second one where the springs on it look more compressed compared to the others, is this normal?
  13. Got the injector pump replaced which turned out to be the culprit, now running 100% again!
  14. Thanks for all the replies. Yea I tried bleeding air from the injectors and also used an extractor pump on both the inlet/outlet of the injection pump but no joy. I have tracked down another fuel pump so hopefully that will solve the issue, stupid mistake on my behalf but at least I will never ever run a car out of fuel again.
  15. He said his son can remove the immobilizer on the spare ECU, however I don't know if the immobilizer on the current ECU will need recoded once its removed.
  16. Yea when I was taking to my mechanic today he mentioned its likely the fuel pump thats causing the problem, but he is going to try another ECU in the car as mine may have gotten damp :(
  17. Thanks for that, will try that tomorrow as the car is at my mechanics place. Cheers
  18. I have only checked the injection pump quantity with VCDS and judging by the guide I was following the numbers of the IP quantity were OK (that was about 6 weeks ago now though)
  19. Just signed up and thought I would say Hi! I have been visiting the forum quite regularly and thought I would sign up as I am thinking about buying a VRs Fabia that is local to me as my uncle has had a few off them and I quite like them. I currently have a problem with my MK4 110 TDi which is annoying me a bit and have posted a thread about it on here so hopefully I can get it sorted: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/329875-110-ran-out-of-diesel-and-not-right-since-help/ Cheers
  20. Hi all, Was just wondering if anyone has experienced this type of problem before. Its about my 110 TDI MK4 Golf by but understand these where also fitted to the first of the Octavias. I let it run out of diesel soon as I got the car home, so I changed the fuel filter and added more fuel to the car expecting it to start and it did eventually but the throttle is very laggy/slow now with hardly any response at all, definitely not like what it was when I got it . So I scanned the car with VCDS and it had a MAF fault, got a new one fitted but no different. Since this problem has developed I have had a mechanic my family usually use too look at it and he said the timing was off so I got a new belt fitted - No better. He also said he checked the exhaust and cat for blockages, cleaned the EGR and intake, cleaned the fuel tank and lift pump. Still no good and it's starting to annoy me now as I bought it to drive myself (12 weeks ago now) and now looking for a Fabia VRs. Has anyone ever experienced this type of problem before? Thanks in advance
