  1. Thats great, thanks Langers2k, Yes got an ABS and Anti skid caption on intermittently initially then stays on permanently. The garage did the error checking and changed the rear right ABS sensor but the fault still remained. It has occasionally at slow speed operated the anti skid for a few seconds. I have a bit of a rumble/grinding sound also from the engine compartment, sounds as though its coming from the left hand side (passenger). But its not a typical wheel bearing noise, it usually comes on when i'm cornering left but I've just changed the front right wheel bearing and both front drive shafts too so i'm discounting the front right wheel bearing. Is there a bearing on the inboard side of the front drive shafts? Totally unrelated to the ABS i know!! Cheers.
  2. Sorry should have said! 2007 1.9tdi 4x4 octavia 2.
  3. Hi all, Has anyone got a circuit diagram for the ABS/Anti-skid loom? And also an exploded view of where the loom runs roughly (and where the ABS unit sits)? Many thanks. Alec.
  4. Hi all, Looking for exploded diagrams of the front suspension area, has anyone got a link to some please? Thanks. Alec.
  5. Ah!! I didn't even think of that one, the noise happened once on the way to work this morning for a very brief second. It seemed to me to be coming from the front passenger side, although i may be wrong. But definitely the front of the car! Daft question probably (as I haven't looked under the car) where does the exhaust run from? ie which side of the engine? I've also just had the front drive shafts replaced a couple of months ago and the sound seems to have manifested itself shortly after that. Could be my imagination but is there under there that could be occasionally catching them?
  6. During cruise, not speed related. Dropped the clutch the noise is that quick i couldn't tell if it any any difference. Doesn't happen at idle at all.
  7. Was driving to work today and all of a sudden i got a VERY Very loud noise - i can only describe it as akin to standing on the other side of a brick wall when someone is using a hammer drill - only in the metallic end of the frequency range if you know what i mean. Only last for less than a second but is very concerning. I've had it a couple of times now but put it off as my undertray/sump guard vibrating against something but its was a lot louder today. Anyone got any ideas? Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi 4x4 Thanks all
  8. @hrvrs Actually that's a good point, I've not asked him to check the rear bearings out. All of the bearings were changed not that long ago but i do a lot of miles so your suggestion may be a very fair and valid one!!! Will get it back into the garage, they'll be oh so happy to see me again!! Ker-bloody-ching!!! Needs a new cam belt anyway. Bank manager now having a heart attack!!!
  9. Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll get under the bag of **** vehicle when i get home. Fingers crossed its something as simple as a panel coming adrift.
  10. Long shot i know but would here be any bushes/suspension components that would give these sort of fault indications?
  11. unfortunately the car had the exact same noise prior to all the work!!! bugger.
  12. @planehazza, thanks for the reply, yes we thought of the wheel bearing initially so that was changed, we then found that both CV boots were somewhat split so with the history of the droning thought it would be wise just to change them. I went for the full drive shafts rather than just the boots as we thought it might have been the CV on its way out and with the mileage i cover the other side wouldn't be far behind. unfortunately still the drone!! 4 new boots too but due to the drive shafts being changed i'm waiting to do the Hunter this weekend. Not holding out much hope though. Any other thoughts? Advice/comments welcome!!
  13. Morning all, I have an issue with my Octavia 56 plate, 1.9Tdi 4x4, it produces a droning/buzzing noise on steering left and also when going over dips in the road surface. It has been in the garage for a few replacement parts so far (not necessarily related to the noise). Parts changed so far:- x4 brake calipers x4 pad sets x4 brake discs x4 drop links x2 rear ARB bushes x1 front drivers side wheel bearing x2 front drive shafts x4 tyres (Goodyear Ultragrip 8) The next step is to do a Hunter 4 wheel alignment (Saturday) I still have the annoying drone, this will happen even when slightly turning left, Most predominant when cornering downhill and to the left, the noise doesn't change when i dip the clutch. Both the mechanic (who has worked on my cars for years and is a knowledgeable guy) and myself are scratching our heads at this one. Has anyone got any idea's??? Many thanks.
