    You are correct; It was mice as my wife discovered this morning ....!!!
    Opened the bonnet and she found a mouse had been taking seed from the nearby bird feeder and storing it ready to eat later.
     
    Problem solved.

    I presume I have maxidot as there is a diagram of the car and it shows if the doors / boot / bonnet is open?
    I've looked through the vari0ous settings but not able to see one which seems relevant.
