  1. Not got a VRS, they didn't do 4x4 in a VRS, but really happy with my 4x4 150ps elegance Had its first service a week or so ago, and still got no complaints Part of me would have liked the VRS spec with the 4x4 but i think I'd then worry about the skirts and alloys (one of the 17s has been kerbed by someone!) Reading the forum, I do feel the odd one out, so it's nice to read threads like this :-)
  2. I have found out tonight that I will sometimes have to sit in the back to let the kids warm their bums up...... Not sure if that is strictly a failure of the car though, or me being too tight to pay for rear heated seats when we ordered....
  3. My van is EA189 2010 140ps and I got the all clear on that (as well as the octy) From reading some of the van forums, mostly caddys have been affected not T5s It seems to have been a bit of a non-event really, in general.... which must be really irritating for the media
  4. Not annoyed, but a bit worried that none of it annoys me..... I suppose the fact we had a puncture, wife didn't notice it, drove on it and had to keep going until she could safely stop, which ruined the tyre, which cost me £80 is as close as I've got But stopping immediately would have cost more than a new tyre if the car had been hit. And though the TPMS didn't flag it up, I'm not sure I'm that bothered..... The other (better) system has the downside of expensive valves and if she'd run that flat then maybe damage to the transmitter. So I'm still in a state of happiness/ambivalence after 6000 miles and 6 months.
  5. But once the car warms up the rear window will stay demisted, but because the mirrors are completely exposed they could ice up again as no other source of heat would get to them..... That's my interpretation anyway (?)
  6. Or just rotate your wheels for a couple of months, and wear the rears out a bit Then tyre swap in October and worry about it in the spring
  7. Been caught out with my VW van like that, twice in the first 6 months.... Not done it since (3 1/2 years) though
  8. Just for info, the holes for the dog guard in the headlining have a metal pillar screwed in, which sits proud of the headlining.... This has a shaped rubber bung around it (that grips the pillar) and holds itself in and also covers the edges of he holes. If you took the guard out and looked, you could see the 2 attachments in the headlining but it wouldn't bother me enough to stop me buying the car. The only issue would be whether you could get the pillars and bungs seperately, or whether you'd end up giving the dog guard away with the car (the later I suppose, and not really an issue to me on a 4-6 year turnaround)
  9. I know there was a problem recently with waterpumps... My VW van went in for cambelt and the waterpumps were on back order. I questioned a friend who worked in VAG procurement and was told they'd had a faulty batch.... I wonder if there is an inherent fault with the design and faulty ones pop up periodically? I guess in overall numbers the failures are going to be tiny.... But still blooming annoying when it's yours
  10. I have a detachable towbar, and there is a rectangular piece of plastic, about 3" by 2" with a circular section that pushes into the towbar aperture.... I'd go take a photo, but the car is off visiting until sunday.... but will do then if needed
  11. Personally, I think I scrutinize more in the first few months and then the car becomes just another part of my life..... So for me the niggles become obvious very early on and then I just learn to live with them :-/ I think the long lasting love comes from reliability, build quality and customer experiences with the dealers etc Even if you get a fault, that might not actually put me off the product as long as I am dealt with correctly...
  12. really happy with ours so far, just over a month of ownership and just under 1600 miles had my first proper trip in it at the weekend to see some friends, so got to use it on the motorway finding the 150ps diesel really torquey, managed 53mpg on weekend run, and mid 40s the rest of the time at the mo (which I'm very happy with as it's a 4x4 estate) having come from a 10 year old Seat Altea, I find the build quality better, it's easier to drive, got more equipment, quieter having read some of the stuff on the forum I did worry, but it is definately better than it's predecessor..... and having driven a friends new A6 avant the other week I didn't come back to my car with a feeling that I was missing out used the factory towbar in anger at the weekend too (with thule 9708 bike rack) and was easy to fit and it all felt really secure I've also had a really positive experience with the dealership too (even with a hiccup in the order) and I think this helps too so another happy customer here :-)
  13. There is a sort of transmission shunt that I've noticed on all the haldex 4x4 vag group cars I've driven, which is really noticeable from 1st to 2nd.... After 90k miles in my van I don't get it very often but noticed it again the first time I sat next to my wife when she was driving. I think the boxes like a slower change, but doesn't bother me much..... Just changed my driving style a bit. Hopefully it'll grow on you :-)
  14. Will the 18 fit in the wheel well? (I know this has been done elsewhere, but I have an elegance with 17s and a spare) Could someone not buy and split with 3 others so you all have an odd spare? It might be a bit more appealing to those who just want a spare and don't have one :-/ Cheap tyre is about £70, One of those rims. £70 The jack kit from skoda. £40 Not cheap, but would give you a full sized spare for less than 200. Only useful if it'll fit though I suppose
