Hmmm... a Yeti driver who listens to Aphex Twin. You're definitely breaking the mould a tad! FWIW, we use our TDI Yeti in about the same way as you've described, and find it excellent around town. DPF has not been an issue at all, particularly if you're doing the odd Motorway run.

Has anyone experienced issues with squealing brakes at low speed? We've heard a squeal coming from the brakes for our 2.0 Outdoor TDi Yeti since shortly after we bought the car - mainly at low speed (eg 10-20kms p/h), when lightly braking going down a minor incline (such as a gradually sloped road or driveway). We raised it with the dealer recently at our first (15K) service, and they first indicated that it was 'glazing', and proceeded to take them off to rough them up a little, however that hasn't helped. I've just called them to query it, and they've advised that there is no issue in terms of braking, and that it is just caused by brake dust, which is common for people living in hilly areas (we're in the Adelaide Hills). I'm not at all happy with this response - we don't drive the car in any abnormal or unusual way, and while we do live in the hills, there is nothing particularly extreme about our environment. With that in mind, I don't think it's unreasonable for us to not accept this, and would like to take it further. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar issue with their Yeti, and what the root cause (and solution) was? Thanks

Got the panoramic roof on our Yeti Outdoor earlier this year, and have not regretted it for a minute. The ambience it lends to the cabin alone (extra natural light etc..) makes it well worth the money alone imo. But couple that ability to open it right up on a late summer afternoon drove back from the beach - just awesome. We wouldn't be without it now.

So it looks like the distortion sound had come from the speaker vibration rattling a couple of things in the door recess. Removed them and all good! Thanks everyone who offered suggestions /advice - much appreciated.

I don't expect an absolute premium sound, but nor do I expect distortion at only average bass at not unreasonable volume.

Good suggestion, thanks. I'll check the door pockets as that may be the issue. In the event that it's not, I assume this is something that can / should be looked at under warranty?

Four months in to our new Yeti and I've noticed that there is some distortion coming from the right speaker (drivers door), while playing music with a bit of bass, and at a volume that while loud, is certainly not excessive. We went with the Tech Pack (not sure what is called outside of Oz) which is supposed to have the 'premium' sound system, so the performance is disappointing. It's possible that is just a fault with the speaker and /or installation, so I'll get them to check it at our first service, but has anyone else noticed this with their Yetis audio?

Unable to check at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it reflects the 15,000 recommendation from the dealer. We'll definitely be getting it done at 15k, but just torn as to the value of doing an interim service around now (ie 7-8000 kms).

We've got a 2014 build (FL) with Sunroof and the 'submarine' lights are fitted and working. They are always on at night, and we really like the effect. Was interested to know though if you could turn it off (not that we want to), so might try turning off 'Auto' mode as someone else suggested. Certainly no issues with glare or distraction off of the glass though.

Hi all Just hoping to get some advice /thoughts on when to take our Yeti (Outdoor 2.0 tdi) in for its first service. Dealer recommendation is at 15,000 kms, but I've spoken to a couple of people who have suggested halving that (at least for an interim oil change). We've already clicked over 7000 kms in the first 4 months (and still loving it). Any thoughts?

The only concern I've got with the genuine Skoda one is that it doesn't seem to go over the curved lip, which is the bit that is most likely to scratch or get marked (has already happened on our Outdoor).

There's no roof racks on that? Have since seen a picture earlier in the thread though showing sunroof and roof racks and it looks fine. Thanks to those who responded.

Does anyone have a panoramic roof with roof bars fitted also? Interested to know how they go together.

As I understand it though, by the time the DPF light comes on, it's going to require a specific act of intervention (ie driving at certain revs for a set period of time) to resolve the issue. I'm looking at how I can better manage this in the course of our normal day to day usage (which involves a number of short trips during the week), to avoid even even getting to that point. This is working on the premise that having the light come on and then dealing with it then is not the optimal way to manage a diesel engine with a DPF (which may be misinformed on my part).

Just further to this, do regens occur both as needed, AND periodically?I guess what I'm asking is, will an active regen occur after 500 miles, as you've suggested, even if there has been effective passive regen occurring in that time?

Thanks everyone for your comments - all very helpful. I'm thinking for general driving around town (short trips to take the kids to school etc..) we'll get around in Sports (S) mode, to keep the revs up. Presumably that will help. Beyond that, we'll try and get as many km's into her as we can over the weekends! I'm hoping that should be enough to keep the filter clean and trouble free.

Hi all So after a 5 ½ months wait we’ve finally taken delivery of our Yeti Outdoor in Jungle Green, and absolutely love it. Love the colour, love the features, love the performance. Generally, well, we love it! After only a week of having the car however, my wife noticed tonight that it’s already undergone an active DPF regen (with the fan continuing to run after turning off the engine, and generating an almost burning type smell). To put it in context, the car does a lot of short trips around town during the week, but also does on average 2 or 3 longer trips (between 30-40kms usually). With this in mind, is it usual for a regeneration to kick in so soon (ie after only a week of driving), and can we expect this to be the norm going forward? This is our first diesel car, let alone one with DPF, so would welcome any thoughts / feedback. Cheers

This is probably a stupid question but do build weeks correspond to calendar year weeks? ie would week 47 equate to approx late November? Our Yeti was put on the boat around mid November, so just trying to work out if we'll get the Columbus (which we were specced for) or the upgraded Amunsden.

Was going to option in the Helicopter but Skoda Australia didn't offer one in our preferred color. Damn shame.

Yeah, will definitely be interesting - hoping the blind will provide decent enough protection, but will have to wait and see.

Have done them all I reckon! I've watched reviews of the Yeti from countries and in languages I didn't even know existed. There's no substitute for first hand, real world feedback from people who use the car day to day over an extended period though. So again, thanks to everyone so far for their comments. Glad to hear a few of you mention the panoramic sunroof. We've optioned that in without seeing one first hand so it's nice to hear that those that have one enjoy it as a feature.

I actually share your view that the limited boot space just helps to restrict that crap that you'd otherwise pack. We've got 2 kids so I'm hoping we'll be fine. In the looks department, a key decision point for us in choosing the Yeti was because it was such a unique look. We love that it's unlike anything else out there on the roads at the moment (at least in Australia). Can't wait to get our hands on it. Thanks for your comments.
