  1. Looks like the haldex controller has gone. Identified the seal coming away, removed the cover and there had been some water ingress resulting in a capacitor being damaged and a couple of the tracks gone. Tried to fix it but no joy. Now scouring the breakers for a replacement....
  2. I have a 2006 Skoda Octavia with faulty Haldex controller and am struggling to find a used replacement. Spotted a 2nd Gen example on eBay from a Volvo XC90 but am unsure as to whether it would be compatible. I've heard that the controllers from an Audi A3 are the same, just wondered if anyone would be able to verify the above for me? Thanks
  3. Read on another thread that WD40 on the locking mechanism in the boot resolved the issue for another user. Gave it a try and it seems to have worked! Took a day or two to work its way through but there was immediate improvement.
  4. Think I was just being a complete spanner but it turns out there was a loose section of exhaust which may or may not be related? It's all good now.
  5. Yes the ABS light comes on and off. Tested the ABS in the snow and it works fine...
  6. Finally had a decent amount of snow in the French Alps last night so was quite keen to put her to the test, but alas, she's now stuck on the drive. Quite pathetic really. Only one front wheel is spinning, not the rears. When I start the car up the ESP light on the dash doesn't come up briefly like all the others. Depressing the ESP button has no effect - it won't light up to signify ESP has been switched off. I thought maybe it could be the fuse for the ABS/ESP but ABS does indeed work. I tried switching out fuse 4 by the steering wheel and there's no change. Really gutted as I went to a lot of trouble to get this car over from the UK.... Any ideas people? Thanks
  7. I see what you mean. But with the aforementioned I was getting mpg in high 40's then all of a sudden - no change in temperature/driving style/fuel etc and around 15 mpg reduction. To make sure I wasn't being paranoid took it for a test drive minus the load on some quiet country roads and was getting max 40mpg instead of the usual 55+. It's definitely not right.
  8. Did an air con recharge but it still wasn't working so ran the climatronic self diagnosis, yielding error code 333 09h - low refrigerant pressure or faulty high pressure switch. Replaced the high pressure switch and air con now working (yay!) Ran the self diagnosis and the same error code is still there. Is there something that must be done to clear an error code from the system?
  9. Drove to France yesterday (diesel Octavia Estate 4x4) and during the first hour or so of the journey the MPGs settled at the high 40's. Suddenly I noticed it dropping for a while until it finally settled at around 35/36. I was driving fairly fast, fully laden with a large roof box but it should be a lot better than that. As soon as I accelerate significantly or hit the slightest incline the MPGs drop right down to around 20, which it never did before. There is no discernible difference in the way it drives, not that I've noticed anyway. If it was the MAF sensor wouldn't there be a big drop in power? I guess also a dragging brake could be the culprit. Is there anything I should look out for?
  10. Hi There, I've just purchase a '55 plate Octavia Estate 4x4 and have been having some issues opening the boot. Initially it was fine. Then at times I found I couldn't open the boot with the release handle, only the remote. Now it never opens via the release handle, only by holding the boot release button on the remote for 2 seconds. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Sami
