  1. Don't know if I can help but my Columbus often randomly will only play the last selected tv channel only and the station list is empty. My remedy is not to play/push any buttons (ensuring I am in a known tv freeview reception area) turn off the Columbus unit, get out of the car, lock via central locking, wait 10 minutes, get back into car select media button,tv button and all channels are back. I think the Columbus gets confused,it does have to do a lot of different functions. Some info here but typically written by a techie.http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/mini-apps/owners-manuals/superb
  2. Thank you all for the replies, yes I have looked at the past posts here but I was hoping there was some advance in tech stuffs. Once again.many thanks for taking time to reply. Another post/message soon...so much better info here than being in a dealers comfy carpeted showroom !. cheers all. Cheers all.
  3. Hello all. Following an incident at red traffic lights when the car infront rolled back into my much loved superb even after me keeping back approx. 5 foot.I was stationery with hand break on and not looking forward, was looking at adverts in shop window. Yes there was damage to my car, mainly the number plate smashed to lots of pieces and small dent behind number plate . I would like the front park sensors to be on permanently to alert me of a car rolling back,i know it will not stop a roll back but at least I could sound my horn (its reassuringly loud !) and the look on my face will shock the driver . Is there a way of switching these front sensors on permanent ? other wise I need to manually switch on via the button on gear leaver surround which is easy to forget. The sensor bleeping alert can be disabled on the Columbus screen if required in dense traffic or similar times. Thanks for any help . Edit, elegance 2012 park assist (factory fit). much loved and respected work horse....
  4. Just a quick update. After searching the internet for tyres,i found an good price for fitted all inclusive, i also wanted all 4 wheels geometry check and adjust. So I found a local independent garage local to me (I am new to this area having just moved) and I phoned the garage to check they can do a computerised geometry check, they asked me to pop in for a chat before I order my internet tyres. Guess what, they beat the internet prices and adjusted all 4 wheels geometry before and after, keeping me informed all the time. The geometry work including a before and after print out was FREE  . Full set of goodyear egp fitted. The car has never been so smooth and silent to drive. Thanks for all your advice.
  5. www.superskoda.com edit, there are also other shops selling these technical part name is bolt cap set Good luck.
  6. Full size spare wheel, which has got me out of trouble several times. I also carry the space saver toytown wheel, just in case.
  7. Thank you all for the advice,i have ordered 5 goodyear efficient grip performance tyres and getting them fitted tomorrow. Also getting the tracking etc checked. 11000 miles is low,yes I agree but they have been worked very hard, carrying very heavy loads often on 900 mile round trips twice a week and also all the tyres bar 1 has several puncture repairs. So for the sake of safety and my confidence its money well spent. Thank you.
  8. Hello all, well its nearly time for new tyres all round due to normal wear, some puncture repairs and also some sidewall scuffs. They have done 11000 very hard miles around Europe lugging heavy loads and me,i am also a heavy load  . At present conti 225 40 r18 92xl tyres are fitted and I am looking for replacements but I want the quietest tyre available,i am happy to pay for the extra quietness. Superb combi 170 with a gear stick.2012 year. Is there such a difference in 4db's as I have seen some Dunlop tyres with 68db noise level and my existing tyres are 72db. The car has preformed so well over the 11000 miles I have had it,i love the car. Edit, would there be any advantage fitting 225 45 18 tyres ?. Thank you's in advance.
  9. Thank you,for all the replys. I have just left the dealer,he tells me he purchased the car from an auction and its a repo from a finance company,it has 2 keys and all the paperwork so he thinks they just handed the car back. All The wheels have large lumps of alloy missing, size of £1 coins so its been kerbed a few times,(easily done). We discussed the wheels further and he is happy to fit 5 new wheels and tyres of my choice,so far so good.He (dealer) also suggested aftermarket alloys but i strongly disagreed so i have asked for the skoda original wheels called Flash. To be fitted with top end range all season tyres. Thank you to Andrehj for the advice. The dealer is ok with the above, also he will get a new mot and have it serviced from a skoda garage before he puts it on sale. So far so good .
  10. Hi,its my first question here. I have seen a superb 2l tdi estate (2012) 28000 miles at a car dealers,he has just got it in and its going into their prep process soon. I noticed the 18 inch alloy wheels have been bashed about and the tyres are fairly worn all of them, dealer told me they will be repaired/exchanged.i mentioned that i may be interested in buying it as it is as long as he gets a new mot. I would prefer to change the wheels anyway,to 17 inch 6j with 205/50 r17 (all season tyres) inc spare. Would changing the wheels to the smaller above size really make a difference to the car, good or bad ?. in terms of handling, noise etc,any info would be very helpful. I live in an area with rough roads, potholes, mud, road surface missing and soft verges.so i need robust tyres and suitable wheels. My car travel is mainly motorways at constant 70 speed for several hours with a good weight in the back, its only the roads around where i live and the farms i visit have the poor road surface, which are getting worse as the winter pulls in. i have seen many interesting articles here re wheels and tyres, very interesting indeed. The superb car size really suits my needs and i want one. Thank you in advance. Henry.
