  1. We have a 1.2tsi Rapid and it's now due it's 12month service. My wife rang the local dealership this morning (not the one we bought it from if that matters) and was quoted £189 and that it would be the 2nd service. This has really confused me. a) Why is it the 2nd service? The car is 12 months old and has done ~4500 miles. The lady my wife spoke to said the 1st service is the pre-delivery service, but the Skoda website says "1st Service – for ŠKODA’s 12 months / 10,000 miles " Why is it £189? The Skoda website here (http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/simply-fixed/pages/default.aspx) says a minor service is £139. However, if you try to book a service online when you select the dealer and then look at the servicing options a 1st service is £149 and a 2nd service is £199. They also said we could order a service book via the parts store but I thought they didn't make those any more? As i say, thoroughly confused.
  2. My 1st baby is due in 6 weeks, and I'm looking in to car seats for it. I know the Rapid has Isofix anchoring points, but can it take I-Size seats? I can't find anything about it in the manual at first glance. Also, how much are the sports seats (which we have) more inclined than the standard seats, and will that impact on the baby seat? I'm specifically looking at the Concord Reverso, which lists some Skodas in its brochure, but not the Rapid.
  3. My wife found it and sent 2 pics: Now am I going blind or is that a Citroen badge in the first photo?
  4. Aye, I'll get one when I get home
  5. I found a small lump of rubber on my driveway a few days ago, and didn't have a clue what it was. My father-in-law identified it as a rubber bump stop from a car's suspension. He also reckoned that my Rapid was missing 2. However, the car has only done 2.5k miles, and the rubber looked ancient. We also have a much older C2 parked on the drive, plus we are on a very busy main road so it could easily have come off a passing car. Does anyone know exactly what the Rapid's bump stop should look like, and where it located so that I can have a look later? A google image search just shows loads of different bump stops, so it's hard to know which is for the Rapid. If mine are missing, is it a major thing to fix, and should they be going missing on a 3 month old car?
  6. It's right on the edge of the driver's door. It's down to bare metal, and about 8-10mm long. I'm hoping it can be touched up but I'm a total novice with car paint so I've no idea. I can't see it needing a respray though.
  7. I don't see how it could have happened since we've had it, but can't say for sure. The dealer has offered to send a touch up pen down as it's so far away.
  8. I had my first drive in the car since taking delivery (illness and bad weather stopped me at the weekend) and noticed a bloody big chip on the drivers door, down to the bare metal. Not happy at all.
  9. Weather is still vile out, I'll get some up at the weekend hopefully.
  10. It arrived! The weather was foul so the handover was rather rushed, plus I had to give the delivery driver a lift to the train station rather sharpish. It needs a wash as you'd expect after a 350 mile drive, but otherwise seems spot on. All the extras we ordered are present and correct, and the standard kit all seems fine except I thought the Elegance was supposed to have the aluminium inserts but ours came with piano black ones. I like them though so I don't think I'll say anything. Very chuffed with it right now
  11. Presumably changing the window switch should be easy once the new one is released?
  12. Most of those don't bother me, but the updated sound system, proper windows and the new engine are all things I'd have liked.
  13. Similar to the new Polo then, minimal cosmetic changes on top of fairly significant tech changes.
  14. Couldn't get the time off work in the end, so had to go with the car being delivere. Thursday lunchtime and it will be here!
  15. Nope, I got muddled up. I spent ages speccing up Octavias and Rapids and mixed the 2 sets of options up. Sorry, no Xenons in the UK on the Rapid.
  16. Xenons are an expensive option on the Rapid currently. Sports seats are standard in the Sport, and an option in the Elegance.
  17. Very true, and I always try to buy an outgoing model due to it having had all the kinks ironed out (in theory). The 110ps engine would be nice though
  18. Are there any pics of the new model? Google just comes up with Indian ones which I think are different again.
  19. I'm wondering if I should have waited to buy my Rapid.
  20. Ah yes, I forgot to mention the Meguiars lambs-wool mitt I bought for doing the top half of the car, and I already have a microfibre noodle mitt for the bottom half. I got a cheap pack of 10 300gsm microfibres off Amazon too.
  21. I've recently done exactly as you, and read everything I could find on detailing world. I've ended up with a full procedure as follows (brackets are what I've bought, there are loads of options for each of these and I can't personally recommend any as my car doesn't arrive until next week ): Rinse using pressure washer (got a cheap Nilfisk in an Amazon lightning deal) Spray with snow foam (Bilt Hamber auto foam, via an Autobrite HD snow lance) Rinse 2 bucket method, with grit guards in both buckets (Dodo juice Born to be Mild shampoo) Rinse Clay (CarPro cloth plus Iron X Snow Soap as lube) Rinse Polish (Poorboys Black Hole) Seal (Armor All Shield) I'm intending to do that lot at least every 6 months, with just the first 5 steps every couple of weeks.
  22. I think it depends which servicing schedule your car has been set to.
  23. If you buy online, you can send back within 7 days for any reason under the sun due to the Distance Selling Regulations. There doesn't need to be a fault. Do the Philips White Vision Xenon effect bulbs give a blue tint? I hate blue tinted headlights.
  24. Really? Bugger, that would probably need 2 days off if I went midweek. I guess I could go straight there on a Friday and get it, then stay and travel back on the Saturday.
