How about a nice 5 spoke with a 5 year guarantee? Sorry, I know winters are out, but these look quite good on a limited budget? Got the 16" for winter, worked very well and I think you can get them in bigger rims http://www.tyremen.co.uk/product/72277/grip-silver--skoda---octavia-2004 Jon

Starting to look at winter tyres...in August!

Winter tyres make a huge difference, the grip is far superior to summers and they are more flexible giving better stopping distances over summer's. If you look at it logically and are keeping the car for a few years, you're just buying another set and rotating them so lasting longer. With British winters the other option is all season tyres, I put Vredestein Quatrac 3's on my Audi, summer wear was fine and winter the car felt safe and I didn't have to invest in new wheels, steel or alloys! Hi there, new to this forum but here goes. All season tyres are great, I have them on my current A4 on 16", but the thing with this is you're going to use them in winter as well, so if you can get 17" that's better as you've dropped a size. I just read this in the last week, http://wintertyrereviews.co.uk/steel-or-alloy-for-your-winter-wheels-and-tyres/ seemed quite useful and I may go for a winter set with my next car. But I also think one of the comments has to be taken seriously, if the wheels have been battered at 28K miles, then what's the owner done to the rest of it? Good luck with your purchase Jon
