  1. Shell helix 5w/30 with a Bosch filter (I sourced these)
  2. Just been to pick up my car from garage. They have replaced clutch dual mass flywheel. Crankshaft position sensor and oil and filter. Now the oil light warning light comes on as soon as the car is revved. They have replaced the oil pressure switch and it's still the same. Car seems to be okay although I'm not sure if the pressure has been checked with a proper gauge or not. I have been told that this may well be swarf in the sump pick up pipe but the car was absolutely fine prior to this fault? Could this be something simple? Or is this a common fault?
  3. Sounds daft but mine went through a few days of struggling to start and cutting out occasionally at junctions. i put it down to a not so good batch of fuel as a soon as i refilled the car its now fine again and has been ever since. im not suggesting this is a cure to your fault but for me it emphasised the fact how rubbish the fuel from my local supermarket is! since changed the fuel filter as a precaution.
  4. Mine seems fine, again another black one 12 years old 116k. just to say starting to get some tiny rust spots on the rear arches though
  5. it turned out to be the exact connector you mentioned at fault. clear as day the blue wire had corroded just after the female connector. while i was there i also repaired the brown wire and the faults seem to have gone and the battery light has now returned. thanks for the help!
  6. Agreed, would love to get something arranged but dont think im the right person to organise it due to other commitments at the moment.
  7. Thanks, thats pretty helpful. i dont like the sound of those odds on the CAVE engine, there seems to be a lot of decent low mileage pre-2012 CAVE engine ones about which makes me a bit suspicious. from what ive read on here think i might save up a tad more and hold out for a decent CTHE one. ive had my MK1 a few years now and its never once let me down, last thing i want is to roll the dice on a mk2 and end up with a problem ridden car.
  8. Basically i have had my Mk1 Tdi VRS for a couple of years now, i love the car to bits but ive been looking recently at upgrading to the mk2 VRS. The problem is the more i read and see regarding oil consumption, the more im slowly going off them. are they worth buying? how much of a realistic issue is the oil consumption? and is there anything in particular to look out?
  9. is anyone ready to try again with this meet now we are approaching spring and the weathers improving?
  10. Did mine the other week, not too happy with exactly how its sat though, going to have a re-adjust, with it being a second hand splitter its abit worn.
  11. Looks really well, keep up the good work
  12. Sounds good, i would potentially be up for this. - Atherton
  13. The rear badge was easy as anything, it's only held on with adhesive. Not sure exactly which one I went for but got the standard new style rear badge of eBay. Pretty sure it's the same size rear as the mk2 fabia, from memory it's only the front one that I had a slight issue with the sizing. If in doubt best to use some verniers or a ruller to measure the diameter to double check before you order it.
  14. Thanks. Yeah Im thinking about having LEDS all around also, seen a few with them and I agree they seem to transform the car.
  15. Been a while since i last updated this, no significant changes have really been made over the past year, the birth of our little one and the need for 5doors meant that the Mrs now uses it more then me! i managed to get a good deal on a LCR front splitter last month and finally got round to fitting it after work the other day: not the cleanest car at the moment but glad i did it, overall i see what people now mean when they say it improves the look of the whole front end. i will get some better pictures when the weather is better and ive had chance to clean it! also im not 100% happy with how its sat, i want to resit the spoiler when i get chance. tasks to do: front headlights - beginning to get that horrid fade on them, need restoring clean and machine polish cam belt fast approaching flush and change the antifreeze - coolant reservoir begining to look abit rusty in colour, need to have a closer inspection/pressure test. cup holder - keeping my eyes peeled for a good price polo cup holder arm rest - again not essential but due to the amount of motorway miles i now do this would be a good feature.
  16. Snap, looks like my battery light isn't coming on either. unfortunately i will have to wait until better weather before i can look at repairing the wire. Thanks,
  17. i might be up for this, will let you know once a date has been confirmed Driving Black Fabia MK1 VRS with subtle mods
  18. Apologies @Wino just seen your thread on broken alternator signal wires. will have a look at the lower connector that seems to be giving alot of bother when the weather improves. does anyone know where i could possible find a wiring diagram for a ASZ Vrs? if its not the connectors i guess a disconnection from alternator power supply and a simple OHMS test of the blue wire should indicate any breakages.
  19. I have a similar issue, the power steering takes around a minute or so to kick in after start. i have checked all visible alternator connections i can see and the alternator seems to be charging the battery fine. the fault only seems to occur first thing on a morning when the car has been left cold overnight. im leaning more towards it being a battery fault but not sure as the car cranks fine and never feels sluggish to start.
  20. not sure without looking but is there not an access panel underneath the rear seats? if so should be possible to have a look at the top of the lift pump where the breather pipes/fuel pipes meet the lift pump. failing that it shouldn't be a huge job to lift down the tank itself, bit of a pain if you dont have access to a ramp though!
  21. looks sweet. ive just got myself a Cupra Splitter and will be fitting it soon. just wondered what sort of sized fasteners you used? got some self tapping screws but not sure if they will be up to the job or not!
  22. I use Brembo discs and pads in mine aswell, they seem pretty good to be fair. been in over a year now and the discs look relatively new. would recommend them for sure.
  23. Atherton here so not far from you
