  1. Cheers Gaz. Joined VWROC and the natives seem friendly enough - see how it goes. Yes, well chuffed with car (in the 3 days I've had it)!!! Air cin, sat nav etc weirdly familiar too🤔🤣👍 Cheers Grant
  2. Well it is goodbye. Now owner of Mk 7 Golf R DSG Good spec with full heated leather, sat nav, reverse camera.... Plus APR Stage 2 ECU/TCU 390bhp Scorpion downpipe and 200 cell cat Scorpion res delete Airtec intercooler MTC inlet R600 turbo elbow Maxton rear roof spoiler lip Mk 7.5 Spielberg alloys and new Falken Azenis 235/35/19's Detailed and ceramic paint protection Puts a smile on the face for sure. Best to all on Briskoda and hope we can enjoy driving again soon. Grant
  3. Well after almost 3 years, the company leased 2018 Octavia VRS diesel goes back in couole of months. Initially loved the car, the space, the reasonable performance and decent handling and of course the space (2 kids)! As time went on, not so good and silly little niggles (parking manouvere brake warning, stop start system warning constantly on, headlights that are way too short on dip and poor on main beam to name 3. Since lockdown, car hasn't seen use it warrants (and evidently needs) and the underpowered battery flattens way too easily (wifes old diesel Zafira been called into action on 3 occasions so far) Company lease car makes no sense currently unless you like paying more money to HMRC every month so going to run my own. Currently thinking Golf R, A45 AMG, BMW 335d xdrive or Audi S3 (in that order). But dark horse may be a petrol VRS (230 or 245) but remap to take it to power it should have😀👍 On the whole enjoyed it but if it had been mine to own, would have been in dealers a fair few times. Oh, and don't get me started about the Sat nav - that has a mind of it's own and knows roads that haven't even been constructed yet!! Best to all owners, stay safe and hope 2021 might offer more in terms of being able to just go out and enjoy driving, as well as life in general. Grant
  4. The OP said "jump start" which to me means booster leads connected to another (running) car's battery? I have now had to do this 3 times on lease 2018 VRS Octavia. Central locking still ok and lights on but no chance of it starting. Immediately after first instance, it had a 380 mile round trip (business) and i thought that would be it sorted. Happened twice since and I wouldn't trust it to start after a week. Ironic that I've had to jump start it from wife's 13 year old Zafira diesel. Have to do an hours driving at high revs every week to stop it doing it again. Goes back to lease company in 2 months.....
  5. OK, I must be thick.... 2018 Octavia VRS and dropped daughter off at school with radio on. Switch off ignition, lock car etc as normal. Back in and switch on and no volume. Mute showing at top of screen so hit switch on steering wheel to un-mute. Use rocker control to increase volume and nothing. Changed from DAB to FM and still nothing. Never done this before so what do i need to do to get volume again?! Cheers Grant
  6. The cabin filter is fine and car is cleaned regularly so no drain areas blocked or leaves, muck etc.... Only thing I have noticed is that when damp conditions, water is present in body behind all doors i.e along sills, down door pillars and down rear arches. Lease car and will be going for service in next month or so and will ask garage for opinion..... Cheers
  7. Anyone else have problems with car misting up very easily? If driving, have to have heater on demist setting and fan blowing otherwise it mists up. If car has been sat, front and rear screens are not just misted up but wet Car isn't damp inside and I've wiped screens clear numerous times but same thing happens. Not had a car mist up like this in many years.... 18 plate Octavia VRS diesel....
  8. Was on DAB. No matter what I did, no change. Then when I went back to car to go out again about 2 hours later, R1 back at same volume....
  9. Got into car today (2018 vrs diesel) and for whatever reason, radio changed to R2 from R1 and no volume. Manually tuned back to R1 and still no volume. What is the obvious I am missing?? Cheers Grant
  10. I signed for bike parts off ebay last week using the electronic pad and pen. What showed up was about as close to my signature as either; a) My 9 month old son signing for it or b) My GP signing for it or c) A chicken walking across the screen Postman just shrugged and said " it never looks like anyone's signature". Begs the questions, what's the point and why bother?!
  11. Having had 60 plus cars over the years and a lot of tuning going on (some good, some not so good lol) an observation... Almost without exception, as soon as connectors are touched and alternatives plugged in, problems can and do arise. May seem everything is fine and that satisfying "click" as they push home is heard, but connection is not as reliable as original. What i found to resolve most issues was good old cable tie. Not radially around the body where the connectors mate, but longitudinally from end to end. Not claiming it as miracle cure - modern cars need an electrician, not a mechanic, but easy to do and if it works, result
  12. Lol When it gets busy and congested mine takes seeming delight in advising me "caution there are obstructions on the route". Yes I know. I'm sat in it doing zero miles per hour!!!! Like I say though, puzzled why same postcode put in twice now and it gives different destination about 1/2 mile away?!
  13. Posted previously about Sat Nav in 2018 VRS diesel being less than reliable.... Anyhow, aside from fact it constantly wants you to exit off motorways only to go over roundabout and rejoin, anyone care to offer reason as to why it would show a different destination for a postcode used previously? Technology. Can't live without it but sometimes can't live with it!!!!
  14. Thanks Offski, I check that regularly. Was wondering if any forum members might actually be involved in the ongoing process hopefully culminating in it running again. Cheers
  15. As per title, does anyone know the current status with regards to Jim Clark Rally and likelihood of it being re-instated? Prior to moving down to North Wales 5 years ago lived in Scottish Borders and this was in my calendar every year. Cheers!
  16. No mate, you are the one showing yourself up. Read my first post. I no longer work in LED lighting and therefore do not have a product to push as you.put it. Have your reports and info you have from Professors and the like got their facts from a product using waveguide technology? Have they seen it or are they even aware of it? Think I know the answer to that.... And again, as the waveguide approach and technology is entirely different to any other LED lighting on the planet, the results will differ..... I am sure you will reply but this is my last mail on this. Just a suggestion though, if you want to highlight a point, underline it. Capitals just look as if you are shouting but I guess that's because you chose (sic) to
  17. Do you actually work in the LED lighting industry? Have you seen a Waveguide technology product? Have you compared against traditional sodium lamps and the standard LED offering i.e. down facing with a diffuser?
  18. Do some more "research" please. At this rate we will be back to candles..
  19. Yes, white light will be present for reasons as you say. There is a big difference however between 4k and 6k. Likewise you will get big variations and consitency depending on LED source. Poor quality will be far worse than a Cree or Philips or similar. Streetlight developed was 4k and because of the technology (end lit acrylic rod), driver current can be very low allowing cool LED's meaning extended longevity on account of low junction temperature and huge energy savings in range of 75 to 80%. Being side lit and not vertical means no need for cover which reduces LED output, efficacy and efficiency and minimal number provides same light output as "normal" technology. That translates to energy savings which are a big plus to our carbon footprint and health of the planet. I for one support LED lighting, when done correctly with quality product.
  20. And there is always this.... waveguidelighting.co.uk I have hands on knowledge of this having developed equipment and processes to precisely print the reflector. The reflector is custom tailored to the application (streetlights being but one) and result is a uniquely tailored reflector that puts light only where it is intended. Same basic product can thus be delivered to same or different customers to suit application and will vary by height of install, spacing etc. As an example, light on a carpark perimeter can be kept in confines of carpark and not disperse into countryside by turning the reflector to effectively blank the rear of the unit and all light either goes directly downwards or forward into carpark. Different reflector for units away from carpark perimeter allows light to be distributed front and rear (or to differing amounts). Very clever, unique and patented product Good quality LED lighting also eliminates the "flicker" problem of traditional tube lighting and inferior LED. Not convinced? Hold mobile phone up to a traditional tube light and switch on video. You will see dark bands and flicker. That is what causes nausea, headache and fatigue in office environments - the brain masks what the eyes are actually seeing. Do same with quality LED lighting and no flicker. Like most things there is good and bad. LED lighting is no different. PS I no longer work in LED Lighting and I am not on any royalties etc!!
  21. At risk of throwing a spanner in the works..... 2018 VRS diesel and just over 4300 miles. Today when i stopped the fan was running and there was dinstinctive smell of burning rubber or similar. And now the rub.... Car had just done 170 mile drive back from Cambridge - surely dpf cleaned out etc after that?
  22. Lol. I also have 50 year old legs to contend with
  23. Lol. I live just outside Coedpoeth so cycle up - either up Minera Old Road or have been going up Worlds End and picking up Offas Dyke path (Its a climb and a half up Worlds End with 36t front and only 10 speed cassette!!)
  24. Nice one! Was it through "Buy A Gift"? My wife got me same for birthday last October but when I tried to book (thinking maybe couole of months notice), not a chance! Hoping to get valid period extended so I can enjoy it in summer next year, pity didn't manage it this one!!
