  1. HI. This fault has appeared before but no definitive how to do statements. I have the passenger airbag warning light coming on. VAG com states its a resistance out of spec and the connector has been removed by the previous owner. It looks like a poor job has been done and if I crush the area covered by tape and reset the warning it does not appear for a few weeks. I want to remove the seat, re-do the joints by putting in a new connector. Has anyone done this before?. How may ways do I need and If I disconnect the battery , unbolt seat for access remake the connections etc are there any other issues?. No codes etc when re-connecting the battery?
  2. I would like to get one but why are they doing it with the DSG gearbox as the only option?. Octavia has both DSG amd 6 speed manual and the 1.4 TSI is offered else where in the range with the six speed manual. Why not with the Fabia VRS. Its a show stopper for me.
  3. Hi have read the threads about rattling in passenger side footwell. My car has same problem. I have switched climate to recycle and rattling stops. Can be good for while when switched back to auto but will start rattling again. It sounds like I need a new motor/valve assembly. From previous threads its sounds like a DIY job. Can anyone give me the OEM number for the motor/valve. I have seen a couple on EBAY but dont know which to buy and sellers are rubbish at answering emails. Car is 2003 Octavia VRS. Cheers
  4. Hi. No a VRS will not go up standard ramps without damaging the front. I welded a set of extensions that I fit to my ramps that lower the angle. You might get away with solid wood blocks cut to give a ramp onto your ramps. Used oil can be taken to your local dump where they should have recycling bins. Cheers:thumbup:
  5. Go with the silicon grease idea. Just squirt some up the gap at the top. It will stop straight away.
  6. Try VW Parts - Audi Parts they do a great deal and very fast delivery:thumbup:
  7. I would also check the following. Exhaust mounts on centre box can shear off. They can be tack welded back on. Listen for clanging when going round bumpy corners. Also front anti roll bar bushes are prone to wear. They will squeak or groan going over speed bumps etc. All that was on my 20 000 mile Vrs. It had been driven a lot down bumpy single track roads by previous owner.
  8. Had exactly the same problem on my O3 Octavia Vrs. Garage changed the master cylinder. I have had no problems since.
  9. Follow up post. They had car in for 1 day. Replaced faulty exhaust and sprayed creaking roll bar bushes. Could not find any problem with gearbox linkage. Arranged for car to be in for 3 days to strip gearbox. Drove home car and rollbar bushes skeaked like banshees. Clutch pedal locked down on floor one day and would not come back up. Went on holiday and hated the car. I would have had my money back if I was near the garage. Took car in on monday and have just got car back. What a transformation!!! Roll bar bushes replaced. No more din!!! Gearbox stripped. Now get reverse gear freely. Clutch master cyclnder replaced. no more clutch problems. Its taken a while but the car is now great. They were always polite and always had a curtesy car. I traded a Toyota Avensis for this VRS and wondered what I had done. Now I know why. Vrs is great to drive. Thanks Winners.
  10. Recently bought a second hand 3 year old vrs from them. Drove it home and the exhaust was clanging when I went round corners. The reverse gear was a swine to get out of and all the 4 tyres were very low on pressure. rear 14 psi. This had apparently just passed a pre delivery inspection!. Not impressed at all. Its going back to be sorted. Will post follow up
