  1. Put it through the std wheel and measure how much thread comes through will be easy to work out what extra thread you need and will put your mind at ease driving it after ☺
  2. Good choice fella I would say check all the windows operate properly and check for central locking issues the imobiliser light door open light on the dash for each door ect they are the main issues I've had and seems others have had too apart from that mines been all good there is a buying guide pinned near the top that's worth a read before looking at a car I didn't but seem to have avoided all the issues mentioned in it ☺
  3. think i may just go for these then i must admit anything would be better than the cheap chinese rubbish 205/50/17s i have on there now with the extra width and going for a better tyre i should be quite happy i recon
  4. Looking at going to 225/45 17s on my octavia vrs so will have to do all 4 at the same time Only got a max budget fitted of £300 and have found uniroyal rainsport 3 fitted for £75.50 any other suggestions at this price point or is that gonna be as good as I'll get
  5. Had to say this sod's law rear passenger been in since mid dec 2014 mechanical failiure door now locked shut none of the normal things that fail are at fault
  6. This is a pattern lock i put in mid december last year btw Fitted a couple now never had any problems in the past it has a year gauruntee on it so not an issue getting a replacement just getting it open is proving tricky/impossible
  7. Allready chopped into the deadlocking mech i did it with a sharp stanley blade and chopped it back further to see the rod operating too its all operating as it should throwing the selenoid up/down as i said it dosen't seem to be an electrical fault something mechanical has broken or bent in mine i took the 2 screws out from the bottom of the card and the 2 from the handle and got my hands as far up the side as i could then gave it a sharp tug all the clips popped off unbroken with the lug bits still screwed to the card but that may just be luck more than judgement as i just got to a point where i went hulk smash with it
  8. Still not working have tried the lock unlock method / hitting various parts of it as I said though the card is off and have tried doing everything I can get to from the inside too Not tried the drivers release button yet will do that as one last attempt but think some part of the mechanical linkage has come adrift inside the lock everything electrical seems to be operating as it should so smashing it apart looks like my only option
  9. The rear passenger door is stuck shut the button goes up and down with the rest but outside and inside handles do nothing I have the panel off and access to the motor and have even cut into the side to the deadlocking cog which is working and actuating the rod inside I've tried everything I can think of even pushing the rod further up and down with a screwdriver and have poked prodded and flicked everything I can think of to get it to release and nothing has worked even kicking the inside of the door while pulling the release cable Anyone have any more ideas before I go at it with my fooking big hammer
  10. I had the same did cts as it's much easier to get at but made no difference though then did the stat 2 weeks later which sorted it and now its about 2/3 mpg better on fuel aswell which is a nice little bonus
  11. Genuine ones though I do drive it hard sometimes and drive quite a few bumpy country lanes which doesn't help
  12. I am lucky and live just up the road from gsf and eurocarparts so can pop in anytime but I believe both have online ordering and delivery Or there seems to be the ever popular ebay now
  13. I fitted the tt ones to mine but either will do the job fitting the standard bushes is a joke they just don't last I haven't had a set of standard last longer than 18months before they start to split.
  14. Turned it off and on again earlier and it was still on but parked it up for a few hours then came back and all normall again dunno what that is all about maybe some water got in somewhere or something very odd ☺
  15. Driving up the motorway a minute ago and the abs and traction control lights came on is there anything worth checking out or is it just a case of chucking it on vcds again
