  1. Not massively fussed about that to be honest. Not paying almost £80 more for someone to walk around my car, seems silly. The garage have now been corrected and yes the spark plugs will be changed along with brake fluid. Just under £237 all in seems good to me.
  2. Thanks for your reply. This isn't main dealer, haven't used them since I bought the car as the prices are just too high. This is from my trusted local independent garage, they have listed what is to be carried out on the quote and that is just oil and filter change. I will contact them again and double check whether spark plugs and brake fluid should be changed as well, the car is 3 years old this month.
  3. As title really, my car is due its 40,000 mile service soon. I was under the impression that Oil, filters & spark plugs would be changed? But my local garage haven't quoted me for spark plug change? Anyone shed any light on this.
  4. Thought that may be the case, I wont be attending
  5. Morning All, Received a letter in the post this morning to say that my local Trust Skoda Group have invited me to a 'VIP' weekend where there will be 'special' discounts on all new and used cars, some will even be below cost price . Are these events worth going to? I am looking to change my Rapid in around 6 months so might be worth seeing what they can do, I bet these deals still aren't as good as car wow or drive the deal......
  6. They usually calculate you a GFV (Guaranteed Future Value) dependant on mileage and contract term on PCP deals, so you shouldn't be in any negative equity at the end of the PCP deal regardless of price. You'll probably just end up paying a highly monthly price if you pay full RRP.
  7. I would say yes They only tend to clamp down on the excess mileage charges if you intend on handing the car back and walking away, they usually come to some sort of deal with you if you are going to part exchange it in for another car, at least this is what has happened in my past experiences on PCP. I was almost 10,000 miles over my contracted miles, but they never mentioned this upon p/x for my new car. Maybe I have a nice dealer!
  8. Yeah, I saw your timing chain thread, I would be going into the dealers for that no doubt about it!
  9. Why go to main dealers to get ripped off? Go to an independent VAT registered garage that will use OEM parts under manufacturers servicing guidelines and this will keep your warranty in tact and also save you a lot of £'s.
  10. I used to have an Ibiza Cupra Bocanegra and that ride was very unforgiving!!
  11. I would be choosing the 17" wheel option to go with the sports suspension if that helps....
  12. As the title suggests, is the sports suspension option worth having? Much difference between the 'normal' & 'sport'?
  13. I have configured a couple of cars on Car Wow. The Skoda is a realistic next car for me and the polo was an optimistic punt really!! 1) Polo GTI 5 Door Manual with Pearl Black Paint Sport Performance Pack as an extra - RRP £20,965.00 2) Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI with Quartz Grey paint, sports suspension & 17" Wheels - RRP £16,930.00 Best offer I've received on the polo is £17,398.00 Best offer on the Fabia is £16,012.00 Now for the extra £1386.00 between the two I am seriously considering the polo. Don't understand why Skoda dealers are reluctant to make any significant reductions against what is quite an expensive Skoda!
  14. I can't justify spending £100+ a tyre on a Skoda Rapid. I'm swaying towards the Uniroyal Rainsports or the Vredsteins Ultrac's get good reviews aswell! Both around £80 a tyre.
  15. They cant really make it any faster.... It''ll be knocking on the door of the Golf GTI then and could steal sales for people who don't need a bigger car but are just after power.
  16. I've done just over 20,000 miles on my Continentals now from new - 215/40/17. They are starting to look fairly worn now! Been on tyre reviews http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Size/17-Inch-Tyres/215-40-17-Tyres.htm Any of the top 10-15 there would be a decent tyre? I hear the Uniroyal Rainsport 3's are meant to be good! Any other suggestions? Also, anyone aware of any other tyre sites, I know theres black circles etc.
  17. My Rapid does this aswell! I had about 18,000 miles on my car when INSPECTION pinged up and then OIL CHANGE not long after, when it doesn't need a service until 20,000 miles/2 months time. I usually do around 1000 miles a month and it come up around 2 months early, strange? Must be to do with the way you drive etc maybe?
  18. I just meant 'factory' as in first set of tyres from the factory.
  19. This is the route I want to go down after my current PCP deal ends. Sounds like a good deal to me!
  20. What sort of deal did you get if you don't mind me asking? Same again, what sort of deal??
  21. Thought I'd bump this thread up again. Been a few months, I know its a Skoda forum.... but anymore owners around?
  22. This is what I want from mine. Where was this done and what's the car like now after having it done?
  23. 36,000 miles is very good on Factory tyres??!! I've got 17" Continental Premium Contact I think they are, definitely Conti's - 20,000 miles so far and they are showing wear now!
  24. Bumping up an old thread rather than making a new one... I plan on keeping my Rapid Sport 1.2 Tsi 105 for the long term and want a remap to get that bit extra power and remove the annoying flat spots I get! Has anyone got their rapid remapped? I know there's plenty of suppliers that have quoted figures but I'm after some real life figures from anyone who has had it done. If so how much did you pay?
  25. Got mine booked in for 20k service beginning of Feb at an Independent who will do manufacturers standard service - £122 and a few pence. Not being ripped off by SKODA.
