  1. Hi guys, long term lurker, My Skoda Fabia '02 1.9TDi PD100 is in need of some TLC. I'm looking to move it on shortly, but hopefully to a family member so would like to address a few issues. Except, I'm useless beyond an oil change, and garages rarely have much experience on these older cars now. 1) Gear box struggles into first and reverse. I'm hoping this just requires a linkage reset. I try to avoid the need to reverse as much as possible these days, luckily I can roll into my driveway. The tutorial seems fairly straightforward until it confuses which engine type is left, or right. 2) Aircon Evap Temp Sensor. The good people at Dragon Aircon diagnosed this as the issue. The system otherwise holds gas well. I can buy the part but I've heard mixed feedback on how long it takes. 3) Driver's lock seems to be sticking, which eventually causes the windows to drop. I've found a way around this, but still need to get the lock changed without deadlocking the rear doors. So what I'm looking for is someone in the South Wales (or Bristol/Glos) way that has some experience fixing these issues (all quite common it would seem)? I'm happy to travel. I'd be willing to make it worth your time. Anyone interested?
  2. Thanks for replying. I may PM you in future if the issue raises it's head again. On the recommendation of a friend's dad that wholesales to Motor Factors, I used a bottle of clean drive and it seems to have sorted the issue. It's basically a bottle of acetone. ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clean-Drive-NCLEAND-Petrol-Injector/dp/B00GW1U7WC
  3. I'm near Bridgend. It's not the EGR that's the issue, but the turbo vanes. Thefix is to remove the EGR-to-turbo pipe, and pump Mr Muscle into the turbo.
  4. Most estates, including mine, have lived a tough life by bow being dog cars or tip cars. If you can find a good one they are worth it for the space (bike in back with front wheel off easy).
  5. I've managed to get ~35,000 miles out of a pair of Michelin Energy Saver Plus. They started life on the back and then rotated to the front. Still had a little life left but not enough to risk. It's a MK1 Fabia PD100 so no thrills, and I tend to run higher tyre pressures for economy. No uneven tyre wear.
  6. Yep seen that and read it, but struggling to even get access is I'm not the most confident around the engine bay. Would appreciate if anyone in the area had done it, and willing to pay for their time. That or might have to get a bottle of Forte.
  7. Anyone done this fix? I've just done an oil change and would like to get this issue sorted at same time, but can't even get access to the top Allen bolts. Willing to pay beer tokens.
  8. Can you move the car somewhere else and try again? Occasionally something in the vicinity can cause interference and "jam" the signal. It's a small possibility but a cheap one to check.
  9. They certainly made a difference on my FABIA dipped beam with headlights that needed a refurb. But I don't consider <500 hour lifetime as acceptable. (I.e. 9 months of commute, largely motorway)
  10. Great help Hutchy! Very quick and spot on for the part. Top tip - Tie some dental floss to your bulb clip if you think it's a tad loose...
  11. Gents, tried to replace bulb earlier this night and (I'll blame the gloves) managed to lose the retaining clip. I've managed to bodge a cable tie for now but hopefully won't need the dippers beam for a few days. EBay seems full of somewhat expensive "universal" clips, and breakers are possibly more interested in selling the whole light assembly. Does anyone have a broken light and a spare clip? Or should I sacrifice a wire clothes hangar?
  12. You'll also need G4 for the intial clean and want G5 for the side glass too. Fortunately that's a lot easier to apply.
  13. Consider yourself a set of all-season tyres, word is that they've come along quite a way aslong as you keep the driving sensible.
  14. Is it dirty? Worn? Might be worth getting a quote from an upholster to see what they can do.
  15. Sounds like you have power, but no fuel or ignition. Could be a dodgy sensor. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/199624-fabia-diesel-wont-start/
  16. Not as sturdy as I would have liked it to be, but seems perfectly functional as an armrest. Haven't driven with it yet, and provided it doesn't rattle I'll be happy with it.
  17. For some reason I thought you had to take the centre trim out, I've no excuses for fitting mine now.
  18. Mine arrived today. Seems fairly well pit together, and might get chance to fit on weekend.
  19. Oh I've already seen his rants, and others. Tbh, I've not felt any difference with the Rhino in the lower revs, and mpg certainly hasn't improved, but weather has dropped markedly cooler since so I'll probably run this bottle then try something more subjective in the spring.
