  1. Called Skoda Assistance and had a Skoda/VAG technician turn up in a van. He ran a fault finding diagnostic after I told him I read on a forum it was possibly a pressure sensor issue. He said don't belive anything you read on forums! Turns out it was a pressure sensor ha! He went off to get the part and fitted the G31 pressure sensor on the driveway in about 20 mins. Saved me a trip to the stealer! He then took the car for a road test came back all ok. He commented on how well the car drove his first VRS road test apparently. Coming from a VAG technician a true complement!
  2. The wife's been at it again ha! Flashing glow plugs came on whilst she was driving the VRS set itself into low rpm mode. According the manual fault with engine control engine sets itself to emergency mode. Only had the VRS 2 months however did 500 mile blast up and down the A1 on Monday. Anyway calling the local stealer tomorrow get her checked in (the car not the wife pmsl).
  3. Thanks guys yes it is just metal but the wife has previous! Our previous car was an Audi Q3 which she drove into the side of the house whilst parking next to our garage! Also various dings, scratches dents over 13 years! I'm not without my incidents (touch wood) but it's her consistenty at delivering these 'surprises' on a regular basis. Anyone just printed off a page from the Skoda parts site for a new Gemini putting it in her Valentine card see how that goes down
  4. Two months in with our lovely new vRS and bless her she's kerbed the front nearside Gemini alloy in a pot hole apparently. The wife broke the news over text earlier and I've been quite good about it really but it has ****ed me off for the evening I think ha!
  5. Conti Sport Contact noticed noise difference post delivery of car with checking and correcting tyre inflation.
  6. vRS long-term test on the CAR website updated yesterday (below): By the CAR road test team Long Term Tests 01 January 2015 11:08 Month 6 running a Skoda Octavia vRS: Greenline vs green vRS Can you really mix performance with parsimony? That’s at the heart of our extended test of the Skoda Octavia vRS Estate in diesel DSG trim. Skoda claims an average appetite of 57mpg and 129g/km of CO2, which is usefully cleaner than a similarly gearboxed 217bhp petrol vRS (44mpg, 149g/km). But how different is it from the squeaky-clean Octavia Greenline eco specialist? To find out, we booked one in for a week and tested the two back-to-back. Would the Greenline’s stellar gearing, faired-off aero and eco rubber save us money in the real world? We averaged a best of 57mpg and a low of 52mpg in our time together (against a staggering 88mpg/85g/km claim). The vRS hovered around the 44mpg mark, suggesting that ultimate fuel misers may still prefer the Greenline eco special. Our sportier diesel feels markedly quicker, its 73bhp horsepower advantage paying off, and it out-handles and brakes its sandal-shod cousin. But we preferred the more relaxed gait of the Greenline, its balloon-like eco tyres cushioning us from craters. No poop Sherlock, you’re probably thinking. You’d expect the Greenline version to be cleaner than a vRS, and it is. But if you want something fleet of foot, with muscle as well as miserliness, the dual-role diesel vRS is the more rounded car. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Drives/Search-Results/Long-term-tests/Skoda-Octavia-vRS-Estate-diesel-2014-long-term-test-review/
  7. Hi guys, What's the consensus on tyre pressures on the VRS Gemini 18's? I've usually inflated tyres on my previous cars to the higher level or fully loaded car level for ease in case required. Also have preferred ride on previous cars with higher inflated tyres. Have not played around with inflation on my vRS yet with tyre inflation set at the standard level. Any thoughts or preferences? Cheers
  8. @Grr666 yes the thought had occurred to me but I decided to come clean to the missus which I think made her day... Anyway she'll no doubt put a scratch down the side of it as she does with every car we've had ha! @decul yes agreed the Q3 had 235/50 18s although tyre profile suited to an SUV but you could bump along a kerb all day long with no damage to the rim. Got to be careful with kerbs and this vRS!
  9. vRS TDI DSG Estate in race blue, black pack, full size spare and rear tinted windows arrived today! Great drive coming from an Audi Q3 interestingly the vRS diesel is much quieter than the Audi Q3. Anyway after reading the missus the riot act about kerbing the Gemini's... I only went and kerbed it trying to tuck it in at the side of the road away from traffic! Gutted! Anyway first impressions after spending time driving around needlessly are very impressive didn't think it would have so much power on tap although taking it easy for the first 1,000 miles Seats are excellent very supportive and road holding through corners superb it just wants to shift the torque on tap is awesome. Sport suspension not too bad only noticeable through potholes and my old '04 A4 Avant Sport was much worse. Very impressed with the touchscreen system with all the car information and drive settings much more than was in the Q3. vRS button is awesome ha! Not driven in sport yet just easing her in on normal. Bolero sound is good / acceptable although not as good as SLine Audi system. However don't think I'll miss out on the Canton upgrade to my tastes its good enough. Forgot about the auto dim rear view mirror good to have it again! Overall the quality of the drive, road holding, engine torque and interior finish makes it feel like a much more premium marque who would have guessed Skoda could deliver on such a great car. Gutted about my kerbed rim however!
  10. When in doubt do nowt so have decided to leave the badges on. Can however definitely see the appeal of de-badging. My VRS being delivered tomorrow!
  11. I've been looking at some de-badged ones in the gallery and they do look good. If I were to de-badge as posted on here I would keep the vRS logo and remove the make and model. It would certainly add to the sleeper car look at I suppose it's good to leave others guessing and I've not seen another mkIII vRS where I live. Still in two minds may have to contact the dealer tomorrow!
  12. vRS TDI DSG estate in race blue with black pack, full size spare and tinted windows arriving this Wednesday! My first Skoda following serveral Audi's think the brand and product has moved on tremendously and like the unpretentious brute look of the car. Decided against de-badging as although it may keep some guessing what it is, dare I say will be proud to drive a 'Skoda' vRS!
  13. New to Skoda and never thought I would have one However the recent quality of the product, the repositioning of the brand and the non conformist appeal of being a Skoda driver has led to me give up up on driving Audi and Mercedes. My Audi Q3 is being replaced by a Octavia vRS estate TDI DSG in race blue with black pack, full size spare and tinted windows. Delivery in a week and a half looking forward to it. Thanks to all the informative posts on here.
