  1. thanks....i did have a look in the res tank but couldnt see the sensor, is it easy to see?
  2. I have a skoda fabia 1.4 classic petrol x reg Well i see other people had problems with their red warning light and i have looked at many posts but have got knowhere fast! The problem is ...I start the car and lights act as they should.....then after a minute or two the coolant warning light beeps and flashes and stays on........no other problems temp gauge fine, no over heating, have driven it for miles with no problem. The questions i have are as follows. 1 Ive been told that it could be a choice of 2 sensors that are at fault...i would have thought temp gauge sensor is ok as temp gauge is ok 2 skoda garage want to charge me nearly 80 quid for testing b4 starting and say it takes 2 hours, is this reasonable? Hope you can help!

  4. if the lights flicker as well then usually the steering sensor needs replacing....see lots of posts on here
  5. to replace the steering sensor it is only 30mins to an hours work and i got new part on e bay as suggested by devonutopia so as long as is sensor its not so bad as i thought it would be........there are lots of posts on here
  6. i thinh skoda should repace them as is dangerous cos someone could die
  7. if the flickering light problem combines with a steering problem as mine did, then i would suggest the steering sensor needs replacing
  8. so did the trick for you then.....your travels went well?
  9. just to let you know i got sensor from ebay and got the garage (skoda...newton abbot) to replace it which they did for 50 quid. No problems as yet but early days as problem...flickering lights steering fault light coming on dodgy steering only happened occasionly so too early to tell if has cured the problem will let you know
  10. my 2000 1.4 fabia (petrol) power steering intermittantly stops working. When i had a long journey the pas warning light came on . I stopped the car turned the ignition off then on and it went out, the lights still flicker sometimes and dont trust the steering sometimes. Sorry im no mechanic seems could be a design fault and if so shouldnt skoda put it right for free? battery and alternator tested and are ok
  11. just to say i took my fabia 1.4 petrol into newton abbot skoda about flickering headlights and they said is very common problem . They tested charging circuit everything ok including battery and alternator, said like previous posts that steering has big demand from battery and best to live with it!
