  1. yes it will do 2 BT connections also. I only found out when my work phone rang on the system, very useful feature, my previous car (Fiesta) didn't have the facility.
  2. interesting how to get the latest colour graphics, i have the same unit but not colour.
  3. Umm, difficult one, my last Octavia had canton fitted, and since it being written off last month, struggled to find a replacement. I finally got one without canton, but with the 9.2" system. Yes the canton was better than standard, but not revolutionary.
  4. Sadly at the end of March I was involved in an accident in the trusty Skoda, sadly written off, so i've been without wheels for a couple of weeks. The issue was finding a similar spec'd car to replace it. Took delivery of my new car this week, which is spec'd up similar to my old one, so very happy to be back on the road and back in a Skoda. Here's to many more happy miles. Can't fault the insurance, Qutoemehappy, agreed written off on Monday, fully paid out on Thursday.
  5. So my 2017 Octavia was on variable servicing and was due the oil service after 20 months/17,000 miles and the inspection service 1000 miles after that. Booked it in and they did both together as it wasn't logical to go back after a few weeks Collected the car after the text and video and yodelling! Only to find that they had changed it to fixed annual servicing, took it back today to get it changed back to variable which they did, BUT now the oil service is 613 days and the interim service is 20,100 miles/ 365 days After going back in and complaining that it wasn't fully set to variable, they insist that it is and that an inspection is every year Any ideas, as I'm not convinced they are telling the truth.
  6. Sounds like they are using the remnants from another paying customers kit and not the full kit, its one of the high profit bolt on items. They often do 5-6 a day depending on how busy they are. The detailer whom i got a quote for, takes 2 days, 1 days prep and 1 day for the ceramic protection to apply and cure inside a temp controlled room. I can see why it costs £500 for that level of service.
  7. I had my last car done by my friend whose a valet-er for Audi, he did a great job for £50. I had the car for 3 years, and the difference from others cars I've had that weren't treated was that washing was far easier, dirt came off quick, the alloys dirt never stuck on. Never had to polish it over the 3 years, as soon as jet washed, quick shampoo, car completely beaded up and looked great. Sadly he's retired, so will be hopefully getting my new car done, had it 6 weeks, by a local detailer. Cost is £500, and that's for a full clean, machine polish and a ceramic coating applied. The process is 2 days, whereas the dealer supplied option is probably a couple of hours at best. My friend had his GTR done, and the results were amazing, like a mirror once machine polished.
  8. Here's a link to my photos of the Geneva Motor Show 2018. Had a good couple of days dreaming! https://photos.app.goo.gl/5Xl0tY6TD2nYLB932 All photos are copyright to myself, of used please credit. Enjoy.
  9. Was a good could of days at the show, if a little warm in the halls. Approx 24C Here's a couple of snaps.
  10. I inadvertently snapped off one of the dash switches yesterday
  11. Bought my Octavia last week from Platinum, can't fault the service from initial email enquiry from Autotrader website to actually getting there to test drive and buy the car. A 400 mile round trip was certainly worth it, especially the price.
  12. Just installed the connect app and connected to car, it popped up with a status of the car and then disappeared. And all I can now get in the app is , engine size, gearbox and trip planner. Am I missing something or does the car not have the functionality.
  13. I've just got my new Oct SE L and it came with canton, must say the sound is spot on. Good level of detail and doesn't sound too bad. Retrofit might be a difficult and expensive job. I did have a full focal setup on my swift with sound deadening the doors which made a massive improvement for the tin can!
  14. So finally joined the Skoda family today, after a long 360 Mile round trip, I'm not the proud owner of an 17 plate Octavia SE L 2.0TDI Finished in black with 18" wheels, Canton upgrade. So far so good, LED headlights are awesome, pretty impressed with the stereo so far, just need to fathom of you can play a USB device on random fit the whole lot of songs.
  15. Hopefully getting my first Skoda tomorrow and will be px'ing mine. A general question of whether to include previous invoices with the service book or not.
  16. there are discounts around already, carwow, autoebid, new car discount to the few i've looked at.
  17. Interesting, i had a test in the swift sport and thought it was as good acceleration as my old diesel, and would have probably had to have hoofed it around everywhere. I suppose having diesels for over 20yrs and the torque available make going to a petrol difficult without loads of power.
  18. currently i've a Suzuki Swift (looking to buy rapid spaceback Jan) and have similar issues with misting up overnight, what i found to help was, leave aircon on all time, never turn off, leave recirc on when leaving car at night, switch vents to floor when leaving car at night, when starting in morning, everything on full to windscreen and after a few mins turn off recirc. This has helped minimise misting up and certainly stopped the internal icing up i used to get on the windscreen!
