  1. Cheers Geof, handsome fellow isn't he?!
  2. Some recent shots with my "new" Nikon 200-500 lens: Bradgate Stag by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Grey Squirrel by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Long Tailed Tits by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Overall, I've been very impressed with the lens' performance, shame the light has been so drab of late.
  3. It will be almost a crime to drive this when it's done! Keep up the good work.
  4. And here's some from the tennis at Nottingham recently: Johanna Konta by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Heather Watson by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Michael Mmoh by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Reilly Opelka by Ben Goddard, on Flickr
  5. Fab shots! I feel your pain trying for prop blur. The Victory Show takes place a mile or two from where I live so I usually go along to get some shots. Here's some from recent years: Hurricane MkI & Blenheim by Ben Goddard, on Flickr North American Aviation P-51D Mustang Janie by Ben Goddard, on Flickr B-17 Sally-B by Ben Goddard, on Flickr
  6. Lovely! Just what I'm looking at for when I chop my Superb in at the end of the year, although will probably go for the petrol variant.
  7. Just got an official invitation for the fix last week so maybe it hadn't been released four weeks ago?
  8. I think the test actually was the one done at MIRA quoted in this RoSPA article: http://www.rospa.com/road-safety/advice/vehicles/tyre-safety-technology/tread-depth-wet-weather/ Note how tyre peformance drops off below 4mm.
  9. I seem to recall an Auto Express test many years ago where they tested tire performance with tread depth and it dropped off something shocking below 4mm IIRC. I'd never wait for my tyres to get anywhere near the legal limit before changing them.
  10. Phenomenal! Loving the stealthy FMIC install especially.
  11. A few recent efforts: Sunset Reeds by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Strata by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Jay by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Song Thrush by Ben Goddard, on Flickr
  12. Hats off to you for doing a very proper job!
  13. Doing a great job! Looking forward to seeing the decals get put back on.
  14. Ah, but wouldn't a CF roof would also shift the centre of mass lower too, quite handy for a taller vehicle...
  15. Oh, loving the swear filter taking issue with Derwent.water!
  16. Some from me; Esja mountain range by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Exmouth Panorama by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Topsham Sunset by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Centre Court Panorama by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Camp Nou Panorama by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Derwen****er Panorama by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Piazza Anfiteatro di Lucca by Ben Goddard, on Flickr Some stitched in camera, most in Photoshop or possibly in Hugin and a stray "planet" panorama to mix things up a bit!
  17. Keys on the unit itself. If you've got a newer model like mine, the "i" button has been replaced by the voice control button with a sort of microphone image.
  18. Yep, mine went completely silent the other day despite anything I tried, Hard reset sorted it out and has been fine since.
  19. Going back a few years, before a switch to the dark side, I used to have a 450D that I shot an air display with using my old 70-210 USM lens, it wan't really long enough. I then borrowed a friend's 100-400 to go to Duxford with and had much more success. The low frame rate will be a stumbling block with the 450D, but I feel you'd be better off saving your pennies for a 100-400. The 70-300 IS might be a good lens, but I'd avoid the 75-300 III as I used to have one and it was pretty dreadful at the long end where you want it. As Brimma says, it's not a cheap hobby!
  20. Sadly the aurora didn't make an appearance [except for a tiny patch of green in a couple of shots], but I absolutely loved our brief trip to Iceland. Friendly people, stunning scenery and good food made for a great trip. I'll certainly be going back at some point with a more photographic focus [excuse the pun!]. Here's some shots from our trip: Sólfar by Pam & Ben, on Flickr Hallgrímskirkja by Pam & Ben, on Flickr Strokkur by Pam & Ben, on Flickr Gullfoss by Pam & Ben, on Flickr Þingvellir by Pam & Ben, on Flickr
