  1. Used two Skoda Taxi's last weekend 15 and 66 plate both had noticable road noise.
  2. Its a wonder BBC Watchdog havent been on to this. Tried ear plugs today but could still hear the road noise and the brakes
  3. I'm actually wondering if its the alloy wheels causing the droning noise.. I wish I could bond to this car. I cant even play the radio as I can hear the road noise as well together. I might try ear plugs. Honest!
  4. I've rejected my Octavia 1.4DSG SE Petrol....The road noise goes through me like touching a knife edge. When I brake I sometimes get brake noise which is the same as the road noise except louder. Waiting for Skoda complaints to resolve. Other factors, Opening the rear window more than a quarter and you get bad buffetting noise. When cars overtake you it sounds like you have a window open?.. Mirrors which are not aero dynamic causing wind noise. Skoda have created a lemon and there covering it up. No one in Skoda will acknowledge these issues have been raised by anyone else. But the web has many complaints about this. At the moment Skodas complaints process is taking up to 8 weeks. I'm emailing BBC Watchdog today
  5. I'm hoping next tuesday the technision lets me drive the DSG diesel estate that i test drove...compare that to my 1.4 petrol hatch and if the test car is quiet i have the trump card!
  6. A friend of mine drove my car on his own. Remarked on the terrible wind noise around door mirrors and in his opinion could live with the brake noise. FFS what have skoda done to this one time solid tank of a car!
  7. I've arranged for the car to go into Skoda York next Tuesday. Technision is going to accompeney me on a drive. I've asked to drive a similar car as well. I did test drive a diesal estate as opposed to my 1.4 petrol hatch. Just wondering if any of the other cars are more refined in way of less road and brake noise, where do I stand? Sorry about the spelling!
  8. Well I've had this car 6 weeks tomorrow and after a trip to Devon done 2000 miles in total. The road noise is still noticable and the brakes are not quiet. The brake noise is the same as the road noise but increases with breaking. More noticable on rough road types. 2 weeks ago I changed the tyres to Michelin CrossClimate. At first there was an improvement but as the days went by it just seems the same as before. Our 2nd car is a 10 yr old Nissan note and to be honest is quieter than the Octavia's road noise. Going to meet the dealer next week to see if there can resolve this issue. Skoda UK complaints have advised me to get back to them if im not happy. My concern is that the technitions may say this is normal and the charactor of the car. My trade in 2013 Rapid was much more refined. I test drove a Diesal estate as opposed to the petrol hatch I bought. Whether that will help fight my corner I dont know. But if there is no fix this I want a different vehicle (Rapid) or my deposit back. Will keep you informed
  9. I wasnt impressed at first but I have a 2017 Racing blue 1.4SE DSG and what I see is the lights built into the shape of the grill. It does grow on you. BTW the 1.4 is very fast
  10. Thanks for sharing. It shows there must be something not right with mine. When I get the increased road noise and then use the brakes the noise increases. On a smooth road brakes are quieter I hope to get it sorted next week with Skoda. I really like the car the racing blue metalic but this noise is p****g me off.
  11. Reading some of the posts here it seems like the mk3 has gone back in time regarding sound insulation/build quality. I remember 1st driving a mk3 Cavalier and the quietness in the cabin. This Octavia is not even up to the standard of a car 20/30years old. I contacted Skoda customer service uk to complain and there advise taking it in for inspection/road test next Monday. The car is 3 weeks old and 1050miles on the clock. Drove to Devon last weekend and ended up with a headache with the road noise. On smooth roads a little better but not perfect. My 2013 Rapid was a more refined car than this! I'm wondering what my rights are if there cannot find any thing wrong...The car is on a PCP Can i just reject the car and refuse to pay?
  12. Tyre presures are ok and tyres are continental eco's ...i want to like this car but it seems to have a suspension/tyre/brake defect
  13. I traded in my 2013 Rapid for what I thought was a good car. 'Octavia 1.4DSG SE' 2017 model After a couple of weeks and a 330 mile trip to Devon have experienced the worsed road/tire noise since my Nova Sport 87...And on top of this you cannot ignore the droning noise the brakes make...I got myself involved in a PCP for 3 yrs and dont know what my rights are here. My 2013 Rapid was quiet and so refined compered to this car...Any Help would be appreciated.
  14. I've took delivery of a new Octavia. Very happy with it. Road noise is a little more than my Rapid and when braking there is a distinct purring noise. I had this on a Toyota Yaris and was told this is a charactor of the car. I've only done 128 miles. do you think this will settle once brakes bedded in? and what about road noise. This is a petrol model 1.4 DSG
  15. at times my wiper doesn't go back to its complete position. sort of sticks in the middle. doesn't do it much but annoying. Like a cheap lada samara!!!
  16. I think you have a point. I've had different cars over the years and imperfect tyres effect the handling no matter how much you pay for them
  17. I haven't bothered with the dealer. But may give it a try. Thanks Chris
  18. No Chris...gonna just try and live with it....after a few months might swap the 2 fronts around. it may be something to do with the appalling roads in in north Yorks
  19. when I first drove my 1.4 DSG rapid it pulled left even on a level road....after 6 months I swapped the passenger and drivers tyre around. This cured it and drove dead straight. if anything a little to the right. But I could cope with this. now I have had 4 new tyres fitted, all balanced and electronic wheel alignment done. My car has a slight tendency to pull left. I'm trying to live with it. I even did the swap wheels again to see it if it would make a difference. But nothing. I understand the old 'calibre of uk roads have a left slope' But is it the tyres that could cause this I'm using Dunlop sports response.
  20. when I here the bong I turn the radio volume down and that makes it quieter
  21. when my car starts up and I rotate the steering wheel I can here a click from behind the fuse box. It seems to be effected by the increase in revs that moving the steering wheel causes. Its not too annoying as it disappears after 10 mins/5miles of driving. Behind the fuse box is another unit which I think are some sort of relays. This is where the noise is coming from. Any suggestions?
