Google Maps rapid zoom in & out CarPlay Columbus
tanelv replied to Richmix's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I think the problem is with the GPS on the phone. When I use Waze, I noticed that the speed jumps between correct one and 10km/h lower one. Google Maps uses speed to determine the zoom level. They should add a longer delay between the speed changing and the zoom change.- 21 replies

Followed the instructions and tips. All went well. Used sewing needles from below to keep the tabs open. -
Hissing/whistling noise on D3
tanelv replied to mohsensarhan's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The C4 still does it. Never found a reason. My DSG is more like a whine, not hissing. And always there when I accelerate. -
Hissing/whistling noise on D3
tanelv replied to mohsensarhan's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
My car also has some kind of noise on D3. Have not complained to dealer yet. I remember that Citroen C4 also had something similar. -
I have seen the water spinning in this location, but it did not block mirrors. Could be related to wind direction

Rear skoda emblem removal.
tanelv replied to Dirtydogg's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Yes, the original is stuck with double sided adhesive as well. Just start with some dental floss and use a toothpick to get it behind the badge. If this is not enough, find a denser string to saw the old badge off. The factory badge has 1 big adhesive, not 3 strips like the ebay item. -

Canton speaker - anyone know actual specifications
tanelv replied to Exeterj's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
make sure you don't have anything in the door compartments. it drove me mad until i realised it was a parking clock or a water bottle that was rattling -
Another thing. The Skoda recommended tire pressures are a bit too high IMO. I lowered from the recommended 2.2 to 2.0.
-
My experience with professionally installed sound proofing - it does not get rid of tire noise if the tires are bad. Pirelli Cinturato P7 that came from factory were noisy as hell. Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance fixed this issue. Sound proofing helped with going through potholes, Canton and doors close like a premium car's now. Also engine noise. Generally low frequency is dampened.

Extra soundproofing in Scandinavian cars?

do you have any visible soundproofing under the spare wheel? -
The Nivalis Antracite don't look as dark in real life as in the catalogue.

Metallic Moon White for Scout
tanelv replied to chris1012's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I have a Scout with black rails and mirror covers. Had to pay extra for the mirror covers though. Black rails were actually cheaper than silver. I plan to paint the rest of the silver parts to black also. -
DSG Oil Change at 10,000 miles / 15.000 km
tanelv replied to susi's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I checked the servicing cost table. DSG oil change is done on II and IV service. Cost is 136€+VAT. So every 2 years at least. -
No panel. There is a plastic insert that covers the tow bar hole.

I didn't know it could do that!
tanelv replied to Telboy5's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Mine came with Pirelli summer tires so I could choose the winter tires myself. Although I'm pretty sure the Pirellis are not suitable for nordic weather. So just sell them and buy whatever TM suggests next month. -
https://gls-group.eu/EU/en/parcel-tracking They do mark it as dispatched right when they process the order though. And never trust their in stock quote. Waited for a week, then contacted them to find out 1 item was out of stock and they refused to send the rest as a separate package. Had to cancel the out of stock item and order it separately in effect paying the shipping fee twice.

De-badge or not to de-badge that is the question?
tanelv replied to bigchrisg's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
When you peel off the glue, use a hairdryer and keep your thumb in the flow to make sure it does not get too hot. Then start peeling from one side and keep blowing between the paint and glue. Should come off almost perfectly. I used small amount of bug and tar removal with microfiber cloth to get rid of the rest.
