  1. What is acceptable. I am astonished at the number of problems that are being found and yet the reaction to them is pretty much a shrug of the shoulder and "that's how it is". My most recent problem (probably my fault ! ) was that I managed to lock my key in the boot which resulted in a friend bringing the spare'. Can I turn off the electronic "stuff" that controls all this. When I first got he car (Qaroq Scout 4x4 2ltr Diesel) I had all manner of problems with the stop/start, worst and most dangerous in my opinion being a violent stall when attempting to pull out into a stream of cars. I was persuaded to persevere as it was supposedly down to my driving style and I would get used to it. A bit of a cheek I thought but I stuck with it on the basis that if when I have occasion to get the engine/drive-train reset my thoughts are "if it stays calm it's down to me getting used to it as the reset made no difference" "If the violence comes back it is because of the engine/etc " Guess what - back came the stalling !! I tried to get the car changed over as fundamentally it is a nice car but it has taken forever to get any response to that. A change of sales manager without letting me know and the COVID-19 nonsense has taken it's toll on time
  2. Anyone got a 2.0 Scout Manual 4x4 diesel that stalls - often with a bang
  3. Is it illegal to throw the car out of gear and coast to save fuel and if so where do we stand every time stop/start kicks in?
  4. What is VCDS - I would love to be able to swap start/stop to permanently off rather than permanently on when you first start the car
  5. Would you be prepared to carry out a little experiment and that is use your car with Autostop switched off for a week and then repeat for a week with it switched on and see if there is any perceptible difference in the in the ocurrance of stalling
  6. I bought my Karoq 2.0 TDi 4x4 Scout back in April and ever since I took delivery it has suffered from what can only be described a violent stalling , especially in 1 st from a standstill but also sometimes in 2nd if already in motion. There are many similar problems with the TSi 1.5 but as has been pointed out that is a completely different drive train so I thought I would set up a separate thread purely for the 2 ltr car. This can be doing the drive train no good at all and I dread to think what is being held in store. There have been in excess of 20,000 entries in the thread "1,5 tsi petrol engines problems" which as has been pointed out is a different system entirely but owners are experiencing similar symptoms. I believe it is the fault of two bits of firmware fighting for dominance and my best guess is the 'hold' facility versus the 'stop/start' function especially when if you turn off the 'stop/start' feature the problem as good as disappears. If you chose the SE car the brochure says you can't have the 'stop/start' fitted. Can anyone out there with a SE variant confirm they don't get stalling. The dealership are particularly unhelpful claiming it is my driving style that is at fault but I find that hard to believe especially when my so called style must change whenever I press the button to turn 'stop/start' off or on.
  7. I bought a Karoq Scout (2 ltr 4x4 diesel) back in April and have had major stall problems. The dealership have tried to blame it on my 'driving style'. What I have established to date is that if you turn off the 'start - stop' feature the problem goes away. Strange that - my driving style which I have developed over the last 58 yrs is capable of changing itself each time I press a button. Personally I think it is 2 features fighting for control of the throttle and my favourite pair is the 'hold' feature and the 'start and stop'. Those folks who say it doesn't apply across the board is because the feature is not available on the basic entry level car. What say you? This problem will not go away and whilst I like the car I will start looking into returning it and getting my money back. There are so many entries in this one forum that surely Skoda can't continue to ignore it or have they got a fix and just haven't released it yet. I had another example today of pulling out into a stream of traffic and it stalled with a large lorry bearing down on me, Not safe, not comfy and not acceptible
  8. Hello Frenchtone, It is nice to see there is someone else with the same taste. It is also interesting to see parallel membership types exist on this forum as do on the Marlin Owners Forum. I have a question for you that is off topic so I wonder if you would contact me on [email protected]
  9. Where do I obtain a wiring diaram for the Yeti (it must be available somewhere as folks have been discussing adding in towing electrics). Secondly, I uploaded a picture along with the previous post but I obviously have to do something else as it didn't display
  10. WOW and blinky blimey - up, nest, stirred and hornets come to mind. Having been the cause of all this 'witty banter' I thought it only fair to explain why it appeared that I had ignored Grahams initial response back in September but before I do so, in a similar vein, did you hear about the bloke who went to collect his car from the garage only to be told that they didn't manage to cure the problem he was having with his brakes so they had increased the volume of his horn instead. Right - Graham very kindly warned me off trying to fiddle with the Canbus system and suggested I talked to a dealer. I did and they were not sure so I contacted Skoda UK technical support and the message came back - "We think it may be possible but we don't know how. We suggest you talk to a specialist" That, quite frankly staggered me. Now, I originally posted my first question on the Yeti owners forum. Between then and now I had found the BRISKODA forum which seemed to me might just have specialists following it so I posted the question again. When seen in context I hope you can see there was no ignoring of advice, in fact quite the opposite. As for the suggestion to sort out my hearing aid those responses were about as useful as a rubber beak would be to a woodpecker. And to the question of can I cope with wiring etc, attached is a picture of my Marlin Roadster that I built some 18 years go and, in which, I recently toured southern Sweden along with a number of fellow Marliners. The reason for even raising the issue (and ignore the lion - that's another story) is another indicator story. When I took it for it's inspection prior to putting on the road, there was no SVLC in those days, it simply had to pass an MOT and sadly it failed because the indicator lights were flashing too quickly. The reason being that then, the Sierra electrics that the car is based on used to flash rapidly to warn you that one of the bulbs had failed. I had fitted chrome torpedo lamps for the indicators and the bulbs were only 4w rather than the 21W that the ECU was expecting to see. I asked the MOT garage owner if he was prepared to suspend the test and if he had two Sierra indicator lamp holders and lamps. He had and I broke into the circuit and fixed them under the bonnet and luckily they did the trick bringing the blinkrate back into spec. The car passed and to this day the engine compartment lights up along with the indicators - quite interesting at night. Two more things to cover. I haven't given up on getting a definitive answer and to that end I have put in motion a request to get some info. out of the engineering department in the Czech factory and if I get an answer I will post it here. Lastly Graham, thank you for your seasons greatings - Google translate makes a decent fist of translating Welsh
  11. Because of my seating position I can't see the indicator warning lamp on the dash. Fairly frequently say for instance exiting from a roundabout the indicators don't cancel. I guess the tangs that trip the switch are not set properly and I will get them looked at at the next service. I have also had the suggestion to turn up my hearing aid but that increases all the ambient noise as well so that doesn't win and, no I don't want to reposition my seat. The warning clicks are there for a reason. Is there any way to program somethng so they are louder?
