Ive replaced my mintex with borg n bec now as i noticed the mintex suffered badly from squeel despite doing all i could to clean all surfaces etc. I found when the mornings started getting damp colder.where they had slighest bit of surface rust appear they would be terrible but once discs were warm and clean they were fine. Had to replace due to warping in the end

Yet had i waited another week i could of had whole engine with gbox witharound same miles for same price. Mines the 1.9tdi pd100 atd . Recon box for mine would have been 600 second hand box was 225

Hi. As per lots of similar threads to do with this. Have you checked for excessive amounts of air from header tank when engine is cold after you driven hard. Ie does its hiss at lots once cap is undone! If so like others will say. Its either case of headlift or hg failing. Ive recently replaced my tank and cap due to crack in orignal tank. But the coolant is dropping after a week or so of mixed driving. Ive had cambelt and waterpump changed which was looking faulty after removal t gets upto temp no probs so stat isnt faulty.so next thing is to try stronger head bolts and see what happens

Leaking coolant through expansion spout
vzo25 replied to smithysmoo's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I did a thread to do with this same problem.after a pressure test found the fault. So anyways brought a new tank plus cap from gsf for total cost of £17 What a waste that was. It was only on 2 weeks.and it was f@#ked so brought proper parts from dealer ok dearer but its working fine even under full load. -
What should my coolant temp gauge read?
vzo25 replied to Adz_VRS's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Is the thermostat original skoda part. And once upto temp it should sit at 90 -
Hi, my 2005 (55) Fabia runs well and doesnt miss a beat but it looses coolant, the oil cap is clean with no gunk on... wondered if anyone could help me? Thanks Get your car booked in for a pressure test. Or diy. I had same fears with mine. Had a full service month ago which included waterpump change. Then coolant light kept flashing. Turns out the expansion tank had a slight crack . Pressuretest only cost me a tenner (friendly mechanic) Fitted new tank and cap in half hr total cost £18. Job done and cured. Id get it checked asap

Yet another tyre thread.... best tyres for wear rate
vzo25 replied to OllieH's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Think that could be good choice.as winter sets in the softer tyre with that tread pattern should benefit you.rs3 -
I feel it in my fuel tank. Im not about to make graphs up (havent got time). As my opening thread. Was querying this.as a mechanic friend told me about a car he had been working on that had major work needed doing. Due to a poor batch of fuel. So thats why i asked what other peoples choice of fuel was.

It may be theft. But they can obviously still make bit of profit otherwise they would tell me to do one.or get dodgy cheapos fitted which aint gona happen!. Its who you know.not what you know for good deals. Competitive world -
Meow. My tractor plods along just fine.

Egr was cleaned and then deleted out.about 10k ago its a simple job to do. As already mentioned its the valve thats causes probs and not fuel. Im still curious to find out if more expensive fuel gives better returns thats all.

My local f1 autocentre always try to match or beat any price. So when i told them i was after pair of goodyear efficient grip performance. 185/60 14 rating h.they beat the £45 pp tyre and charged 39.fully fitted!! Best a wet grip c fuel efficent Looking at online prices for most tyres you cant seem to beat camskill -
Interesting reading that. Ive used morrison fuel for years as its only a mile from home. I get a consistant 67mpg 5 days a week Then i try this bp ultimate and get 71mpg. Morrisons i get slightly more to tank and its cheaper. Yes i think its all in my head. But to notice that much diff in mpg. And better running means there must be something in it surely...
