  1. Morning all... Sorry fo rthe long post, but I need to give background and context... So, I've had a Fabia II 1.2 diesel estate from new in Feb 2011. We've always had issues with the start stop technology and there have been exhaust issues from day one. To be fair to Skoda, in the first five years, they replaced quite a few parts under warranty, some with a small contribution for labour. Since then, I've had to replace the EGR valve and a couple of sensors - each time they've given us a discount due to ongoing issues, but it's never been right. I had the car serviced and MOT'd in Feb and still - start stop doesn't work properly! On 21st May, the glow plug light started flashing and the engine management light came on. We took it to our dealer and they uploaded the diagnostics - apparently there were lots of datestamps and odd codes, so they had to get a new test programme from Skoda UK. The new test was also inconclusive - but they said the G31 boost sensor needed replacing. It was safe to drive, so until they could get the part and fit it, I took the car back. Unbelievably, the start stop is now working perfectly and the car feels better than it has for ever. I took it back in to have the sensor replaced and asked if it was definitely faulty and was told it was. I also asked if I could see the diagnostics to see the datestamps and codes to see how long it had been going on - I was told I'd get a printout. When I went to collect, on the invoice it is printed that although the diagnostic suspected the sensor, it was within tolerance at the time of test. Also, no diagnostics could be provided as they had cleared the data and so it can't be found. So two questions: 1) Have I been coerced into replacing a servicable part? 2) Why aren't diagnostics logged to your file? Surely if there are any issues in the future they'd want to refer back to them? Looking forward to seeing your opinions!
