Ignition timing marks
jms024 replied to jms024's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman
To keep this thread updated; I've set the air/fuel mixture on the carb and the car is now running smooth with no odors of fuel or so. Thanks all for your input. -
So by today its been a couple of months since I've installed the carburator to the car after having the plates engineered and using silicone gaskets. After all this and a tune-up to the air/fuel mix, the car is running like a dream; very smooth and with a great fuel consumption figures. Thanks all those who helped especially @RicardoM for being very helpful and for your professional advises.

Hello Skoda friends. So last week I started noticing my lights going brighter when driving at night. After a bit of investigation I discovered that when at idle, the alternator was feeding ovee 15volts .. basically the voltage regulator has gone. I got myself a new genuine voltage regulator but when I removed the old one i noticed that the new one has an additional wire. My question is; are these incompatible or is the new one an upgraded one? If I can use the new one, how do I install it? Ive uploaded some images here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/kpu5nusa3hfvjw6/AACP3h47dAnxNZlxQ4Og9EdAa?dl=0 Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

You're the best Ricardo! I just picked up the plates from the engineer; I just didn't receive the silicone rubber sheets yet :(. hopefully will get them done this weekend. Will keep you updated!

Hi Ricardo. Timing looked good as also all the 'spark related' components which I could check. I still did not swap the high tension leads and ignition module though. However, lately I've noticed there was a small fuel leak from underneath the carburetor. This makes me think that there was actually a vacuum leak before which now has got worse enough to even let fuel pass out. Upon replacing the bottom steel and backalite plates the fuel leak problem even got worse! I've taken the plates to an engineer who will make sure the surface is 100% straight and then assemble everything using silicone rubber gaskets. I will also replace all vacuum hoses since they are looking a bit tired. As per diaphrams and so on I've tested them using a vacuum pump and they all seem to hold properly. After all this I want to make sure the carb is set properly but since this is my first experience with a carb engine i'm not quite sure how to do it properly.

Hi all. Sorry to pop in this thread but I'm having more or less some common issues with my Felicia. I've replaced the bottom steel and backalite plates with new aftermarket ones but they are now leaking both vacuum and fuel! I will now do as Ricardo instructed; sand them flat and apply silicone rubber gaskets (I could not find Viton sheets). I see there is a manual for these Jikov LEKR 28-30 ... Would be possible to have a copy of it .. it will help me so much in dealing with it. The link previously posted has expired :(

Thanks guys! unfortunately right now my time is very limited and I don't have much time to check it out but I will give feedback once I solve the issue. -
Ignition timing marks

Just what I wanted Ricardo! Many thanks! I had the car at the shop and it started taking long to start, making a petrol odor and having poor low idle ever since. I've been assured by a mechanic that the carb settings are correct so since there's no loss in checking, I want to make sure that the ignition timing is correct. -
Hello all, I'm striving to find the proper ignition timing values for my Skoda Felicia 1.3 Carburetor. I checked a lot on the web and on this forum but I am either using the incorrect keywords or there really isn't any info related. I'm having poor idle and I'm suspecting that the ignition timing is not proper. Does anyone know or knows where I can find the proper Ignition timing values (the one you set with the strobe light)? Any help will be much appreciated

So finally I've had some spare time to tackle this issue. I found out that a piece of white plastic normally connected to the back of the 'hot/cold' selector knob which connects the knob to the cable which moves the flap was snapped out of its place.

Many thanks RicardoM! I will have a look at this. I have noted that when I flip the lever you mentioned, hot air began flowing in so what I need to check is why the flap is not following the knob of the control panel even though the steel hook looks still attached. I think I will have to take out the whole heater unit to have a clearer look at what is happening. Thank you very much again for your feedback

Hello everyone! Happy new year first of all. I am new here and would like to seek some advice from you guys. I own a 1999 1.3 Petrol Skoda Felicia and have a problem in getting hot air from the blower fan. The blower motor spins and air comes out of the vents but on cold air flows in even when the knob is set to 'hot'. I have already replaced the coolant and I can confirm that the hoses going in and out of the heater matrix do get hot when the engine is running. I am suspecting that the flap which deflects the air is not working. Do you have any suggestions of what should I check? Many thanks in advance.
