  1. Hello, I have had an Octavia VRS Mk2 for last 8 years, looking to change it for a pre facelift Superb SportLine Plus Estate. 2.0 TDI Please could anyone tell me if this comes with lane assist and if so, can it either be manually switched off each time you get in, or permanently via a menu on the computer. Also anything I need to particularly be looking out for on a 4 year old 67,000 mile Superb? Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks Regards Chris
  2. When I had Goodyear Eagle F1 on my Audi they only lasted 12 months or around 15K of driving. The Hankooks lasted 22 months.
  3. Don't rule out Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's, had two sets of them on my S Line Audi A4 Avant 2.5 TDi. Lasted 22 months a set whereas the other big name brands only lasted 12 months.
  4. After my indiscretion last month following the sat nav down a BOAT unsuitable for the car at 5 am. I am finally picking up my VRS Blackline estate from the bodyshop tonight. Can't wait as I have had to suffer a 1.2 Nissan Micra Visa for the past 15 days so looking forward to getting my own car back. They didn't have to spray as much as they first thought as the front wings, front doors and bumpers and bonnet all polished out. They have sprayed the rear doors, rear wings and I presume the 3 damaged alloys. Two new tyres on the front and replaced the cracked rear light. Its also been retreated with Scotch Guard ? and had a silicone wax treatment too. So hopefully I will be a happy man again when I see it tonight. No quibble from the insurance company but it was polished first and reestimated before any paint was started at their request. Happy Days
  5. Maybe saying what show you are referring to and location and dates would help as we are not mind readers.
  6. I had the same issue recently and ended up pulling part of the interior trim away next to the light as its held in with a spring clip. Just enough to get two fingers behind to hold the clip whilst reconnecting the bulb holder from the front.
  7. I have just found out how to upload photos as found the full version of the forum on my mobile. However I am currently on holiday and changed my micro SD card in the phone prior to setting off on holiday and the photos were stored on the other SD card so I won't be able to upload any till I get home in 10 days. I agree, the estimate does seem steep, I took the car to an independent accident repair place where I know their head estimater as I would rather take it to people I know I can trust rather than to complete strangers to be assessed. I don't know how these things work but he said that is quoted at the top rate but would come down after negoiation with the insurance company, whatever that means. End of the day, I have only had the car two months and plan on keeping it for 7 years at least as its a 62 plate car with less than 35k on the clock, so the job needs doing right, hence why I took it to a repairers I know will do a good job putting it right again for me. After all is said and done, it was a moment in my life that I am not proud of and really wish didn't happen and wish I could start that day all over again and do things differently but unfortunately I can't. I made and error of judgement which led me to getting myself into a situation I wasn't able to see the clear solution to at the time due to it being dark and the brain not functioning at its best due to the early hour of the day. This whole situation has left me depressed but hopefully the car will be put back to its former glory when I return home.
  8. I tried but had no signal where I was. Estimate has come back this morning at £3564 which is definitely out of my league so will have to go through the insurance.
  9. Hello, Looking for a bit of info on the 18" Black Neptune wheel that comes as standard on the Black line edition. 2012 Octavia VRS I enquired at my local dealers, Simpsons Skoda about a new wheel to use as a full size spare as I don't want a steel spare limited to 50 mph. They took my registration numberdand came back with the following part number 1Z0601025JJX2 price £282 Horton Skoda are offering on their website a black 18" Neptune for the 09 -13 Octavia which certainly looks the same for £178.50 but the part number is 1Z0071498A Is this the same wheel and if so why the different part number ? Thanks
  10. Going to have to be done on the insurance as no other option at the cost being estimated. Lucky that no dented panels, only paint. In hindsight I should have abandoned the car and come back later in the afternoon in the daylight and reversed it out with my friends help rather than try to continue out the other end. But my brain doesn't exactly function all that well well at 5 am and usually wakes up around 9 am on a normal day. Lesson learned but in a very expensive way.
  11. Yes but I am used to regularly driving on forest type roads which never showed up on my Audi sat nav but were perfectly drivable. This road not only was on the sat nav, it had a road name displayed for it so had no reason to think it wasn't going to be passable half way along the road. Lured in by it having a proper road designation and my past off piste driving history watching rallies.
  12. Don't know what I am madest about, the Nav taking me down that road ( which in my opinion shouldn't have even shown up on sat nav) when it turns out the road it turned me off would have got me there in theoretically about 30 seconds later. Or the fact that I chose to follow its guidance. Either way I am madder than a wasp now.
  13. Had the morning from hell today, Set off at 4:30 am to meet up with a couple of friend's to share transport to spend a day watching the Malcolm Wilson Rally in the Lake District. Set Amundsen sat nav to the meeting point as never driven their before. All going fine until it told me to turn off main road earlier than I would have otherwise done . Ok, maybe there is a faster or shorter route so went with sat nav guidance. All went well for a few miles and sent me down some great fun driving back roads but then it all went pearshaped very quickly. It directed me to take a left hand turn onto an un tarmaced road which did have a road name that came up on the nav screen. Not knowing the area and any other roads I had no knowledge to overide what the nav was telling me so I went with it and quite often go off pistr on forest tracks etc whilst watching rallying. Anyway, road was drivable at a slow speed of about 5 mph and I was only about 1 mile from my destination so thought ok, and carried on. Then after 1/4 mile, it got very nartow with rocks on edges and I was concerned about trying to reverse out in the dark without damaging the Neptunes on the rocks at the edges. The track was now too narrow to turn around on and reversing out in the dark was not a viable option either. Turns out it was a byway open to all traffic and not an actual road and would be ok on a horse or quad but not in a 62 plate Octavia VRS. Now I have real problems. The track narrowed and there is a big rock on left of the track. Only way around it is to get as far left as I can but there are tree branches that are going to brush against the car. But not much other way out at this point. Had to go for it. Wish I hadn't though. Get past the rock and around the next corner the track narrowed even more and more branches against each dide of the car now. Gutted. Arrived at destination now late and my friends have set off without me as they couldn't get in touch as no phone signal where I was stuck. So got out and looked at the car under torch light and its a real mess. Scuffs along every panel on drivers side, bonnet, front and rear bumper, even light ones on the roof. Goes tound the otherside and a chip on my previously perfect black alloy. And a cut on sidewall of the tyre. Game over and gave up on going to the rally and turned round and took it round to a body repair centre that a friend works at to get it assessed. It's bad and after washing it off we also find scuffs on passenger side too, and both drivers side alloys light scuffs to the black paint from the tree branches. Estimate to put the car and alloys right again is somewhere in the region of £2000 so is going to have to be done on my insurance. I have only had the car two months having paid £13645 for it, so I am totally gutted at the moment. Lession for today, DO NOT TRUST THE SAT NAV !
