  1. I checked both shocks myself there was no leaks or anything so there fine I'm getting rid in the summer so I don't want to spend to much money
  2. Right i bought some genuine ones from tps took off the ones supplied by the auto factors and compared them they were exactly the same in length and the steel was the same gauge so I concluded that because the old ones were so knackered and 10mm shorter when compared with the new oem ones this in conjunction with new top mounts and bearings that the ride height was correct so i think my car was way to low to begin with and i was used to it Many thanks to tps for being so understanding and giving me a refund on the parts The moral of the this story is always buy genuine parts (well the parts that count anyway) and a big thank you to all that replied to this post
  3. Spoke to skoda dealer this morning mechanic said it looked a bit high but for them to prove it I would have to book it in at a cost So I've picked up some OEM ones from tps then I'm going to the auto factors place in the morning to show them the car before I put the OEM ones on then if there is a difference I can be clearly seen Its me own fault for trying to save some cash I suppose but hey ho we live and learn
  4. In reference to my earlier post entitled (having a mare ) I am having a few problems in prooving that the front springs for my vrs are the wrong ones supplied by an auto factors. I have spoke to Skoda UK to see if they could provide me with the correct ride height for my car and how it is measured they gave a web address for a site called Erwin which is a online technical guide of which I would have to pay for .I'm going to pop down to my local deal to see if they can give any written proof as after looking at the car In the meantime could I ask all mk 1 vrs owners to do me a small favour by measuring there ride height for me and post them on here so I can use the results as a comparison The best way to measure this is to measure straight up from the centre of the wheel up to the top of the wheel arch ( highest point) Cheers
  5. Can anyone confirm this is the correct part no for mk1 vrs front springs from Tps 1/j0411105aj Cheers
  6. Just checked definatly no colour code spots on them will be ordering the correct ones from Tps on Mon morning after I have been to see the auto factors place that supplied the wrong ones to see if I can get me 60 quid back. the box on them said 1.8T rs so perhaps there for a 1.8T Gonna have to do some overtime now to pay the £150 for the correct ones Can't understand why this happends its a real pain In the backside
  7. Just had some new front springs fitted to my 54plate vrs and now the gap between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch is around 3 inches way to high! I know they might settle a bit but after reading a few threads on here I think my mechanic has been supplied the wrong springs. he has checked with the supplier and they have assured him they are for the vrs Problem is how can I prove they are not the correct ones I have checked and double checked the height. the standard height for a vrs measuring from ground to top of wheel arch through the centre of the wheel should be around 160mm mine measures 185mm I spoke to skoda and they told me the springs are colour coded 4 yellow dots and one pink /violet I can confirm these were on my old ones not checked the new ones yet as I am at work but will check when I get home Skoda told me I could take the car in to them for them to take a look I just hope if they are wrong I can get some proof and get my money back Can anyone advise me further Cheers

  12. all discs and pads are fine no leaks on the callipers either, brakes work fine just don't have the same bite as the used to there less sensitive, i have bled them and the master cylinder which helped as the were really spongy before there seems to be more pedal travel before they bite now
  13. how do i check my master cylinder is ok my brakes aint as sharp as they used to be, i have tried it this way is it correct with engine off pump up pedal till hard and hold for 15 sec or so (pedal went hard and did not drop at all ) with engine on pump pedal again and hold (this time is does not go hard but does not drop after say halfway ) is this how it should be
