  1. If you adjust the drivers side then it works on both sides, i.e. drivers and passengers temp are adjusted together, its only when you adjust the passenger side that makes it become out of sync (well the passenger set his/her temp). Then, as published before, holding the auto button down for two seconds re-syncs everything.
  2. Have you visited http://www.vagcom.co.uk/ Rgds Phil
  3. Yes, what an amazing coincidence, wonder what the odds would be on pitching up next to a fellow Briskodian??! From 100s of campsites to chose from (and even the site we were on had around 300 pitches...) Yet, Mike and I ended up next to each other! I think the phrase a "small world" does not quite suffice for this one!
  4. I think this is a really good point, only had my 2.0 FSI for 3 weeks now, and run it on 95 but what I've read here and (even the manual) I'm gonna try 98 next... Using 95 is probably false economy!
  5. Hi, Don't forget to consider the car's kerb weight too. I have an octy 2.0 FSI (Kerb Side Weight = 1500Kg). Torque wise, even for a petrol, this copes really well towing a bailey Ranger 550/6. If the caravan has it's full payload allowance used up (never likely for us) it is just 2kg within the car's max towing limit, which is 1300KG for the petrol 2.0 FSI, but still ~ 85% weight differential between car and caravan. 6. Not wishing to start a seperate debate here, but I always change down through the gears too. It reduces wear and tear on the brakes by using the engine as an assist to breaking. The way my driving instructor put it to me was something on the lines of; "if you cannot master changing down through the gears then I don't mind you using block changes", e.g. 4th to 2nd (5th/6th gear wasn't around back then )
  7. Hi, I have the octavia II westfalia detachable and I fully endorse what you are saying mate. It blew me away, everyone keeps saying when are you having your towbar fitted!! There is a slight bumper cut to the octy but you really cannot tell 'till you get down on your knees and look for it! Yes, did lots of research before getting my wetfalia; and brink, witter detachable have visible cuts on the octavia. The only other one I might have considered was bossal but then someone told me the skoda dealer fit bar is really a westy...? Phil
  8. Hmm, probably not an easy job though. The switch you are talking about, on the models with front and rear sensors, is bound to be connected to the car's computer and not actually doing something like dropping the supply to the sensors, but probably turning them on and off at a computer control level. I.E. in switching them off, I'm sure this will be just telling the computer to just ignore the data they are feeding back.
  9. set myself up for that one - very funny:thumbup:
  10. Yeah, ta, that's what I saw when I was scanning the radio manual (whilst waiting for the wife to do shopping (more information than req'd I know))... Oh well, unless anyone has anything other ideas I will have to a) Put up with the noise whilst reversing the caravan Fit some kind of switch to cut the supply to the sensors (although this may just simply make the car's computer think that the sensors are broken?) c) Order a factory/dealer fitted towbar (not really an option...)
  11. Thanks Johnny, This certainly sounds better than my theory. I will look into doing something like that as I guess the bar I have fitted has bypassed the CAN-BUS system which is why the car does not know the trailer is attached (I'm guessing correctly bypassed as I'm not having any issues with false bulb failure etc). Just a pity you can't do something from the dash controls. I wonder if there's any control through the radio (I'll check the manaul tommorow). Thanks all again.
  12. Hi, Yeah see my mistake - hopefully should be visible now! Thanks (again)
  13. Hi, Can the rear acoustic parking sensors be switched off from the dashboard controls? ]I have just had a westfalia detachable towbar fitted to my octavia II estate (on a side note this is a really nice bar - you can't easily see that there's a detachy bar fitted once it's removed - unlike some tow bars). I know the dealer/factory fitted bar automatically does this when the tow ball is attached (I guess it must use some sort of switch to do so, because I have read that the sensors main supply is taken from the reversing bulb supply?). Thanks
