  1. More I think about it I think a 1.9 auto as I had would be the safer bet. ;-) Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
  2. Oh right, which obviously isn't a serviceable part so not ideal. Do like the 1.9, was just tempted for a bit more grunt. Maybe the 1.9 is the one to stick with then..... Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
  3. Hi guys. I've currently a 1.9 auto which I loved albeit the ingress issue which took time to sort but love the car. Sadly had someone pull out on me last week and its now a write off. Keen however to get another. Looking at the 2.5 diesel auto. I know the faults of the car itself but don't know about the 2.5 engine.....is anyone able to offer some advice on reliability and quirks etc please? Thanks in advance guys ;-) Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
  4. Don't know if any help but I've had this ongoing over a few weeks now and managed to cure it. I had no internal lights, seat stopped working and alarm was temperamental. The seal around the pollen filter was perished so badly lumps of it were missing and some had fallen into the hole below. A tube of clear silicone all the way around and built up higher than the seal uses to go and fixed in place has sealed it up. I've removed the passenger seat and carpet and untangled all the wires. I redid all the nodes, cutting them off and soldering them together and taping over. Got to remember to do the wires just below the passenger seat as for me this was the internal lights. Took a few hours but not too hard. All connectors were then put to the top before bundling back. Couple of holes in floor just incase in low points. Seems to have cured everything.
  5. Well. Four hours later and I have the seat working, lights working etc. Was wet again. Full tube of silicone on the pollen filter seal which will hopefully stop the water. Fingers crossed.
  6. hi guys, sorry to revive an old thread but........im checking my cables at the weekend and expecting allot of repairs but just want to know has anyone who had the electric driver seat issues solved it as i have this problem and need to sort it quick as the car is set for my wifes position when she moved it and now wont go back to mine. any help at all appreciated thanks LAwrence
  7. I've found a good how to on the Internet so going to follow that and has pics.I unblocked the scuttles and removed the bungs. I dried it all under carpet but as works looked ok I didn't unravel. Mistake is assuming as they looked ok. Just need the electric seat to work as currently set to my wife's 5ft nothing position where as I'm over 6ft so cant get in. Can I assume the seat wiring is of the same wires under the passenger seat with all the others?? Any help on that would be good.
  8. Hi gaz. Thanks for the reply Had a bit of a list of 7/8 codes. I never repaired anything so looks like that will be my Sunday after reading the how to do it I've seen.
  9. Hi everyone I've a 2005 1.9 superb Having various electrical issues and my mechanic is seeing pound signs after scanning it and seeing the codes. Just can't afford him doing it. I've got the seat stuck, light warning in dash, no internal lights and alarm has issues now and then. Have had water ingress nd dried out under passenger seat but now at a loss and need my car working for work. Can anyone help me? I'm in Newhaven I'm Sussex and am really struggling as to what to do next. Thanks in advance
  10. Yeah.....wet dog.....That's not a good smell.lol I better bet drying out:-) Thanks to everyone for all the help.
  11. Oh ok. Thanks for the advice on that.Possibly stupid question.lol How do you dry it out under the carpet with it still in-situ .:-P I can hear some sloshing about under there but I've got it pretty dry on top now.
  12. Is there any issues removing electric seats. Just looked at the removal guide and they aren't electric.Second towel is only damp this morning. But serious squelching and water movement underneatu so the seat will have to come out to remove that section of carpet.
  13. I left a beach towel in there last night. Justvtaken it out and it's drenched.....carpets starting to feel drier but can hear a squelchy corner. Another towel tomorrow :-(
  14. Thanks for this. It's appreciated.I put an old top under my seat earlier. Took it out an hour later and it was dripping. I'm going to keep toweling it off every day and hopefully get the worst off until I have time to remove the seat. Still need the seal.....may try silicone to save buying it.
