  1. So it’s not possible to just change the ring? The error comes up as intermittent, so not constantly (but most of the time). We did take out the sensor and cleaned it with compressed air, and the ring as well. But ring looks badly damaged by corrosion, so I think that is the problem.
  2. Does anyone have any experience replacing the rear ABS reluctor ring? Got an error for the ABS sensor on the right rear wheel and noticed that the ring was quite worn (corrosion). I haven’t found any instructions online on how to replace it, so I was wondering if anyone has done the job before?
  3. I have to replace the front shock absorbers and springs on my Octavia. I ordered the parts online, and after trying to mount the shock absorber and spring, it appears like the bump stock and the protective cap are wrong. I ordered bump stock and protective cap similar to these: https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en/article/febi/13076 However, after looking at an instruction video online, they are supposed to look like this: https://www.autodoc.co.no/sachs/1231026 The last one are for cars with sports suspension, which I don't have, and apparently the first ones are for cars without. Both options were available to me after entering the registration number of my car. Could someone tell me which of these are correct parts for a 2007 Octavia 1,9 hatchback, with standard suspension? And if the first ones are correct, could someone tell me how they are supposed to be fitted because I'm unable to get it to fit correctly. Thanks in advance!
  4. I have finally replaced the drop links, and unfortunately it did not fix my problem. Does anyone have any other advice as to what can be the cause? I did have look at the shock absorbers while I was replacing the drop links and they appear to be in good shape. I did replace the aft shock absorbers, but in that case I heard a knocking sound while driving over speed bumps. I don´t hear that in this case, so I do not believe the shock absorbers are the cause. I could of course be mistaken.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I’ll try replacing the shock absorbers and the springs, and see if that helps.
  6. As the title says, I have some sounds coming from the front (left) wheel area. I have some clunking noise that I can hear when driving over holes and speed bumps. I suspect that might be the shock absorbers, but I´m not 100 % sure. I did replace the rear shock absorbers recently, so I suspect the front ones are in need of replacement as well. The other sound I can hear all the time while driving unless I´m driving on more or less new asphalt. It´s a bit hard to explain, but does sound like a vibration/rattle. Could it be the wheel bearing?
  7. With temperatures approaching -20 c here in Norway, I've noticed an issue with the climatronic unit in my 2007 MK2 Octavia. If I have have it on auto, there is no air coming through the center vents, only the two on the sides. My left hand is quite warm, but the rest of me is freezing. I can have it on manual and select air forward and down, which will let air through the center vents. I did not have this issue last winter (altough it was a bit warmer then). I have tried calibrating the flaps, by holding in the two buttons on the panel (I believe it was econ and forward air). This does not help me. I did see post here a while ago where you could do basic settings in VCDS to reset the unit. I can not find that post now, so I'm asking if someone could describe it to me (or find the thread where this was discussed)?
  8. I've now tried with the newest version of VCDS with the same result. I've posted on the rosstech forums as well, hopefully someone will be able to tell whats going on. I'll post any results here when I get them.
  9. No particular reason, it was the version available when I bought it from Ross Tech. I can try with the new version, but most likely that won't make any difference?
  10. I´m trying to replace the instrument cluster in my Octavia 2 with a new (used) one with maxi dot display. I managed to get the pin for both clusters, and I´m following a guide a found on another site (quite similar to what is described on Ross-tech: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer#Immobilizer_Generation_4). On the adaption menu (10) under immobilzer menu (25), I´m supposed to wait until "immobilizer adaption active" changes to "immobilizer active", the go to channel 50 and enter the pin of the old cluster. When I press test, ERROR comes up under Test value and a message comes up saying "No response from controller". I´m using version 14.10.2 of VCDS, and both pin codes are tested. Any suggestions?
  11. And this is the finished result: Looks quite good in my opinion.
  12. Thank you, but it seems like this one is from 1998. I'll continue searching for J255 though, maybe I'm lucky. I do already have a fascia, but thanks for asking.
  13. Was doing the retrofit for the FL climatronic panel with a loom from Ed. Followed his instructions, but could not get it to work. Saw after a while that I midway in the process mixed up the two 16-pin connectors, so now I have no idea which wire goes in to which terminal. I have tried searching for a wiring diagram, but haven't found anything with color codes for the different wires. Could someone here help me?
  14. Is it just me or are the last pictures from the opening post missing? Sent a message to Rob, but haven't recieved a reply yet.
  15. Phil, I never thought about that... No need to pay for a new one then
  16. Sounds good. I've talked to someone who works for a VW dealer who should have access to the correct cables and software. I've sent a message to Eddie-NL just to be sure. Thank you for all the information!
  17. I found this from VWVortex: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3604801 This is for a Golf MKV, but I assume the procedure would be the same for Octavia? Hopefully a used cluster will not create any problems.
  18. Yes, a pre-fl. I just saw some posts here saying that fitting a used one could create some problems when transfering info about mileage and immoblizer. But I'll have look around on some vw forums
  19. Thanks. I've done some research on the process of retrofitting maxi dot, and it seems like fitting a used one will not be possible. Does anyone have some information on that?
  20. I considering buying a new instrument cluster with maxidot for my octy. I found one quite cheap, but it has a cracked screen. Is it possible to buy the plastic screen separate somewhere?
  21. I have an early 2007, so most probably I will have two I guess?
  22. I might send you a PM later on. Just need to figure out if it will work properly in my car first.
  23. Bringing this one up again. Is there a way to figure out if the far has one or two motors?
