  1. I've just bought a RING 365 model because it was well reviewed. It was far better than I was expecting for just over £30. It's the first screw-on type I've used, but I haven't found it to result in any more pressure loss than the clip-on type. Cable / hose stowage is a bit faffy, but most are, and it does come with a nice storage bag. Also fits perfectly in my rear footwell cubbyhole (non Skoda) as if it were custom made for it, which was a nice coincidence
  2. Absolutely! Now that everything is fully computerised there's no reason why tax had to be dated from the start of a month. It could just as easily start / end on the actual date of transfer of the vehicle. I bought a used car on 20 April, which was delivered to me by the previous owner. As I was going away for a week it was going to be off road until May so I didn't feel like paying tax for April. It took numerous attempts to get through to DVLA to be advised that I would have to declare a SORN to avoid receiving a penalty for not taxing the car. Previous owner sent the V5 change of ownership on the day of purchase. I sent the SORN two days later with a covering letter stating that it would only apply to the end of the month. Last week I received two letters from DVLA on the same day. First was the new V5 in my name, the second was the SORN returned unprocessed because I wasn't the registered keeper. Despite allowing the two day gap, they had obviously tried to process the SORN just before the change of ownership. Not sure whether I'll hear anything further from them but the whole process was barely worth the hassle for what was a high tax band car. With a low tax band it would be easier just to cough up the double tax for the month of purchase, which is clearly what they want.
  3. I'd hadn't realised that. Just another fill point we'll have to get used to in the future then. What happens if it runs out when driving? It there a 'grace period' before the engine goes into reduced power or whatever limitation is applied?
  4. I doubt that would work - consumption is around 2% to 3% of fuel usage. I think if SCR were ever to be applied to private vehicles filling stations would really need to be equipped with dispensing systems.
  5. It's stated as an option for "larger vehicles". I'd imagine that the Yeti will not fall into that category.
  6. £12.9k equates to £4k off list price for the 1.2 TSI in base 'S' trim. It's £3k more for the cheapest TDI AWD model.
  7. That's interesting Martin. They were certainly there on the 'performance' page a couple of days ago. Looks like changes are afoot.
  8. All current engines are EU5 only. There's a 1.6 in the EA288 series so it may make an appearance, although the original press release would suggest not.
  9. meaning, as I regularly like to remind Mrs P, 'ugly head' Me ... I'm very green and a little bit precious
  10. Pretty much sums up my experience of dealers, and having to interact again with main dealers is one of the mains reasons I wouldn't want to buy new. My perfect Yeti would be a 150 PS TDi 2WD DSG version, but there's nothing to suggest that's on the cards. I need decent towing capability but not 4WD so also considering a used 110PS that I can have remapped. Just means sticking to manual transmission and missing out on some of the other extras I'd spec on a new car. Decisions, decisions ...
  11. Should we take this to mean available to order from week 22, or rolling off the production line from week 22? I'm just about convinced by the Yeti, but haven't decided on new or used. More info on these revisions might sway me one way or the other.
  12. Had a similar experience to merridee in my first dealings with Capitol. I originally requested a brochure and test drive via the Skoda website. Brochurearrived promptly with a covering letter saying the local dealership would be in touch to arrange a test drive. After a couple of weeks I had no contact from Capitol so I called in. Salesman (Geoff) was pretty much of the type to tell me what I wanted rather than properly ascertain my needs and offer options. I knew from my reading on here that he was telling me some blatant porkies. As I was going to be away for a few days we made a specific arrangement for him to call me the following Wednesday to arrange the test drive as I had the Thursday and Friday off work to do this. Wednesday came and went with no phone call and I have heard nothing further in the now almost two weeks since. My feeling was that if this is the attitude when I'm potentially going to spend £25k on a new car, I dread to think what it would be like if I had any warranty or repair problems. Given the positive experience of others, perhaps it's an individual issue rather than a general theme, but it's certainly made me very reticent about dealing with them.
