Monte carlo stolen alloys, kilbirnie, ayrshire
chuckyegg1000 replied to chuckyegg1000's topic in Scotland
Quick update, police got the thieving scumbag and alloys been recovered. Insurance have replaced them already so may have 2 up for sale as will be keeping one as a spare. -
My sons alloys from his monte carlo were stolen last Sunday, car left dumped on the ground from carpark in bank St, kilbirnie, ayrshire. They must have been disturbed as they only got three of them. Looking for any info on someone looking for a single black alloy or selling three. All info treated in confidence and very much appreciated.

I paid the extra 10k and although it is steep I know in 5 years I will still have a car that drives like New, my average mileage is probably about 6000 per year but the trade in value will be far greater than if I'd have opted for the Octavia vrs, I previously had a vw bora tdi that I bought New and kept for 12 years and traded in with 100000 on the clock, it still drove like a new car and kept its looks without 1 blemish on the paintwork, I can't say a skoda could boast the same tbh, I recently got my son a 1.4 16v skoda fabia 05 plate with 49000 on the clock and although it drives great there are one or two bits on the paintwork that needs touched up and the lacquer is a bit thin on some parts that you wouldn't expect ( back piller). Suppose it all comes down to the fact you get what you pay for, I'm getting old and like my little bits of luxury and suppose a bit of snobbery value comes into it aswell, in an ideal world my Mrs would get rid of her insignia Sri and get a vrs Octavia and I could borrow it lol, would still stick with my 320d msport tho for family journeys, the bmw is the ultimate motorway cruiser and eats up the miles in comfort

What did you do to your Skoda today?
chuckyegg1000 replied to RobClubley's topic in General Automotive Chat
Got a new clutch fitted :-/ -
I own a 320d msport and have drove a vrs and got to admit the vrs is a lovely drive but in my opinion the bmw is far superior, got to compare like for like, and a 318d aint exactly a sports model,

I'm planning a roof, spoiler, mirror and front grille wrap, the fabia is silver so was thinking of a glossy grey to match the vrs wheels I picked up, will get the pro's to do the outside stuff but planning to tackle the airvents, stereo surround and a few other inside panels myself using some carbon type wrap, been looking online and there are loads of different materials and finishes to choose from. Loads of tutorials available to help us novices but I think trial and error with a few practice parts with different sample materials before I commit to my final decision -

Good to get feedback, you just can't tell from Facebook and websites pics, exactly the reason I knew I'd get unbiased advice from guys on here, did get a recommendation about a guy in Renfrew but when I went passed the other day it looked closed? Don't know if he does it as a sideline -

vrs 16" wheels on a 1.4 16v fabia mk1
chuckyegg1000 replied to chuckyegg1000's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
It's not for me, it's for my teenage so he has no taste lol, easily amused ;-) -
I'm about to buy a set of vrs alloys for my fabia, I'm guessing they will fit on with no stuffing on my arches etc. Will they fit on fine without any spacers? Any advice most welcome

Just picked up my sons car he bought. 1.4 16v fabia mk1, 05 plate, it's got 49000 miles and a full service history, cost him £1400 and got a full years mot, was really surprised how great it was to drive, gearbox and steering nice and tight and handled great with a nice engine noise when you gave it some throttle and plenty of kick, considering I drive a 320d msport bmw I was more than impressed and think it's great quality for the money, even got a full tank of fuel lol, think I might be borrowing the fabia quite often, nothing like a small hatchback to make you feel young ;-)
